View Full Version : What Would You Do (ie: Skins Game Tonight)
Califan007
August-18th-2007, 11:13 AM
Ok, imagine for a moment that you can not watch the Skins game tonight...the only way you could follow the game is to sit in front of the computer and follow it on NFL.com. However, you know that there will be a rebroadcast of the game tomorrow that you CAN watch from start to finish.
Would you follow it on NFL.com, then watch the tape delay of the game tomorrow?
Or would you shield yourself from knowing anything about the game and its outcome tonight, and just watch it tomorrow morning as if the Skins didn't play until tomorrow?

I would follow it on the computer.
No matter how hard you try, someones going to ruin it for you and tell you the results.
Also when you come onto extremeskins, you're going to wonder why everyones freaking out about the offense. :)

So you don't think you could convince yourself that the Skins are REALLY playing tomorrow? lol...(hell, I know I couldn't)

I'd probably just listen to it on the radio http://www.triplexespnradio.com/
That's almost as good as watching it on TV.

Its a preseason game, Wait for the tape delay. If it was a regular season game then id listen to it on the radio. Also, check out the streaming redskins games thread and you may be able to watch the game over the net.

I agree. The interesting thing about preseason is WATCHING how various players competing for playing time and/or a roster spot perform. Listening to pre-season seems almost worthless.

I think the O-Line has been the most disappointing, Jansen must not not be 100% otherwise there is no reason to get manhandled by Odom like that.
The D-Line on the other hand looked awesome, they got pressure, stopped the run, London Fletcher was all over the field he is definitely worth the money. Landry got a nice hit on Collins overall the Defensive units have looked good
Suisham worries me that Kick-off and the missed FG do not bode well, on the other hand I want to express my admiration for Frost, what a hit.
JC looked good, despite the two fumbles (Jansen) if ARE, Espy and McAtlee could hang on to some passes we might have had a couple of scoring opportunities
almost no work for Betts, Cartwright was decent
I'm in the same boat. Both Sopcast and StreamTVNow don't seem to carry the Redskins or Steelers this year as far as I can tell.
What sucks is that I spend a lot of money on Sunday Ticket and you'd think that they'd include preseason games in that package but of course they don't. Even worse, they don't even offer a video steaming feature on NFL.com, even if I had to pay for it I would.
I think that I'm going to do my best to get drunk and pass out early, stay away from ES and watch the game tomorrow A.M. @ 11:00.
Edit: Don't know what happened there, I didn't quoute that post, wierd.

I might be missing something here.......but for the life of me I can NOT imagine KNOWING there is a game playing and NOT follow it.
I have been in my car on the way to a conference......and been on the phone with a REDSKIN fan who had their phone up to the tv. I don't have Sirus in my car.
I just could not do it.

I would stay away from anything sports until Sunday and watch the game on Sunday. I hate watching a game when I'm not emotionaly attached to it and already know the outcome. I feel like I'm cheating my team. Call me crazy but that's how I feel...

Living in Florida i am in the same situation as you. But i know exactly what i am going to do.
I am going to listen to the game on TripleX radio and follow it on NFL.com. Then tomorrow i will record the replay and watch that as well, so i can see how we actually looked from my point of view.

Um, I'm not sure who's quote that is or why it's in your post, but ok lol  :)
by the way, I'm VERY tempted to just spend the afternoon at the movies, go out to dinner, and then down whatever alcohol I have in the apartment tonight so that I stay completely away from anything sports-related as well lol...Only have a few hours to think about it, though. :paranoid:

i am actually in that position. i am going to go to a movie tonight and then to church tomorrow morning so when i get home i can start the game on my DVR and NOT have to see anything. i wont be logging into ES at all tonight. :2cents:

I'm in your boat too. I am shielding myself from scores (won't be hard. I'll be at a beach party  ) until tomorrow morning. I'm planning on waking up at 8am for Chelsea vs. Liverpool and then watching the Skins game at 11.
I'll probably need a nap after all that.

I could easily not follow the game on the computer and pretend the game wasnt until tomorow. Being i live right outside of seattle i've yet to run into another skins fan here so wouldnt have to worry about someone ruin'ing it for me.
However, like some of you stated before there is absolutely no way i could know the skins are playing and not follow it on the computer if i couldnt watch it on Tv. I paid $100 bucks for a sattelite reciever just so i wouldnt miss the redskins draft while i was at work this year LOL

I am in this position as well, so my plan is to probably listen/follow the game over the computer and watch the re-broadcast of it tomorrow. Even though I will already know the outcome of the game tomorrow, it will still be an opportunity to see the various nuances of the game that a online article or brief description on one of the networks fail to capture.

Just thought of a potential issue here though. NFLN has bottom line with all of the scores. Kind of hard to avoid that while watching a replay of the game.
I'm going to try to find an online stream, at worst listen to my Sirius radio and then TiVO the game tomorrow. There's no way that I'll be able to avoid looking down.
Cali, as it relates to my previous quote, I too have no idea how that ended up there, I just did a quick reply. Damn computers.

Definitely gamecast because it's preseason. The score doesn't matter so much as watching the players play and see how they're developing so it's okay to know the score beforehand and it helps you sleep better if you know if anyone got injured or anything lol

Listen to the game. Always enjoyable listening to Sonny and Sam. Then you can watch the game more critically the next day for in depth analysis.

Damn, didn't think of that...not that the final score means much, but still.

Just put some duct tape on the bottom of your screen where it will be showing the scores. :D

Not a problem for Califan, since he gets so many targeted popups on his computer, he can't hardly see anything on the screen most of the time anyways. ;)

I'll echo this statement. Since preseason scores don't really mean much, catching it every now and then during the game shouldn't make a difference. When you go back and watch the game later, the only thing you should really care about is performance, not outcome.

Do the computer thing or check out streaming options.

 He meant at the bottom of the tv, not the monitor  (and btw, I've been following that HijackThis instructions on that website...18 freakin' hours of scanning and cleaning before I can even POST the report from HijackThis lol ...on the plus side, though, I think all those scans and cleanings eliminated my problems, because I don't get pop ups or error messages anymore

Go down to the Steelers vs Redskins. Click the channel right below that. Download the little media player that comes with it. Which takes about 1 minute. And watch the game on your computer.

Is this going to be one of those things where there are so many people watching the channel that I can't get a connection to it...and even if I do get a connection to it the stream will be choppy at best?

If you're talking about the actual link for Steelers/Skins, you won't be able to click on that until game time. Otherwise you get "page not available".
