IRVING, Texas - Some might insist preseason games don't matter.
But Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips has warned his team Saturday night's preseason game against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium will matter just a little bit more to a lot of people.
Not only does the third preseason game mark Phillips' return to Houston where he once was an assistant with the Houston Oilers (1976-80) under his legendary father, Bum Phillips, but local emotions are stirred any time the Cowboys step foot in town.
"It's a big deal for us as far as a preseason game, and being the third one, you want to do well out there," Phillips said. "I think there'll be a big crowd, I think they'll be into it, and that will help their team some as far as motivation in the game and those kinds of things, and I want to see how my team reacts with that.
"It'll be a good experience for this team to see where they are."

TR1 you know better than to read anything into a preseason game. The cowboys put the beat down on the Broncos. That's what really matters.

Yeah seriously you guys don't understand the rules for Dallas pre-season football.
When you win a game, whatever the opponet, it is a sign of things to come in the regular season. The team is clearly talented and poised to win the superbowl. Double points if the team you play is supposed to be good
When you lose a game, it means nothing. Just pre-season. You weren't even trying. The other team was trying really hard. Your guys just had an off game. The team was saving the best for the regular season. The crowd noise was louder than expected. It isn't like the starters played into the 4th quarter or anything. etc, etc.

And don't forget the ever-popular "the ball was too slippery"

Now, that's just an unfortunate name...
I think that just might be worse than naming your boy Sue....

That game really is a big deal here. Bragging rights of the state.
And Dallas was SUPPOSE to wipe the floor with the Texans.
The Mayors of each city make wagers.
Lordy.........I loved it.

Bubba was it more than a preseason game? Did it mean something?
It might mean something to houston fans (though I doubt it means much) but it was nothing but another preseason game to Cowboys fans

Yet this 28 year old Cowboy fan at my job, acted as if our loss last week to the Steelers, would mean that we'd be the worst team in the NFL...but when the Cowboys lost to the Texans, he said that it didnt matter.

Blondie, who just lives in Dallas, knows and associates with MANY Dallas fans said it did...... I was correcting her, with the Poke nation company line today AFTER the loss :D
