FOXBORO, Mass. -- New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick today defended his controversial warrantless wiretapping program in a combative press conference, calling the practice "an essential tool in the war on other teams."

"Those who would criticize this program simply fail to understand the state of the league as it exists today," Belichick said, following six minutes of inscrutable mumbling. "There are teams out there that hate our way of life, our way of winning and are bent on defeating us. We must take any and all measures to avoid that outcome."

Privacy experts and league officials have decried the practice as an unlawful invasion of personal rights. New York Jets rookie cornerback Darrelle Revis said, "This is a disgusting, unconstitutional act that borders on the Orwellian." He then added, "****."

I hope Belichek gets kicked out of the NFL. Cheating like he has done, after being warned again and again, should merit expulsion from the game.

Bout what I'd expect from Mumbles. He's a jackass of megalodon proportions and always has been. He's saying everybody in the NFL is doing it and so it's OK for the Pats to do it. Maybe he's right but if he is right, everybody was fairly warned prior to the season starting. If he's caught, then that's on him and clearly, the league and Goodell don't share his less then brilliant opinion on the matter.

Basically, tell your story after you've lost your 1st round pick there Mumbles.

He was caught cheating and he won't admit he was wrong?

exactly...apparently he's taken cheating to another level for other teams to complain about it.

Joke or not, it wouldn't surprise me to hear Mumbles say some crap like this. It's what he's thinking, I'd bet money on it. He's that kind of guy IMO.

Is there anything more fun than posting parodies and getting real responses?

IMO, He has been doing this all along. Think about it. How does a consistent loser in Cleveland and other places he has coached, all of a sudden is a genuis in New England? To me the only way Bellechik has won against a team the second time around is because he has this spying policy to steal signs. It is amazing that a coach that everyone thought to be an elite coach stoops to this level to be succcessful. Bill Bellechik Super Bowl wins have to come into question IMO. How long has he been stealing signs? Think about that. Loser in Cleveland to Genuis in New England. Something smells fishy in New England.

I don't know if this is true or not but it does make you wonder. You add to the fact that Brady was a 6th round pick nobody thought would be anything and he turns into one of the best QBs in the league by seemingly always making the right throw.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Sorry. Wrong thread. Should be in the serious cheating thread.

I know this is a joke thread, but I said earlier in the offseason, when the Pats went against their conventional wisdom of drafting players and started adding all the WR's and high priced Free Agents, they were starting to feel the pressure of not winning a SB for 2 straight years. This could be part of it. The window of opportunity is passing by them, before they'll have to rebuild in a few years. Last ditch effort to put them over the top.

I call BULL****! The Patriots have gotten away with SOOO MUCH in the Tagliaboo era that Bellicheat thought he would get away with it now that Goodell is commish. Sorry, but Bill's excuse of "all the other coaches do it" is the worst type of admission possible. I hope they ban him from the league, take away this year's draft picks, AND have them forfeit that game against the Jets.
