Will Spagnuolo be able to stop McNabb and company?
If any guy knows that offense's weakness, he's probably the guy.
I'm thinking this will be a fun game to watch.

It is always interesting to see how coaches do against their prior teams.

He was the LB coach.
Andy's gameplan will be to air it out (When isn't that the gameplan under him?). But the Giants have a weak secondary and so do we. Could be a shootout.

WD, our secondary sucks because Dawkins and Lito were out last week and we gave up some passing yards? Don't be a negadelphian all your life.
Joselio Hansen sucks and when he is forced to be your nickle, you are in trouble.

He's defintely going to chuck the ball around the field. Whether or not we can slow Eli/Shockey/Burress down is the question. Not having to tackle Tiki is a good thing for a change. I'm looking forward to another Runyan/Strahan battle.

Yeah and how often is Lito hurt? He's the Jevon Kearse of the secondary. Every year he's missing 3 or 4 games.
And actually Mikell did a great job for Dawkins.

I know Roderick Hood wanted big money, but did the Eagles make a mistake not bringing him back?
Not sure how good he is doing with the Cards except that he has 16 tackles - I know that doesn't mean a lot.

And also I can see Andy sitting Westbrook for this game. We have a bye after this game and he might want to give B Rabbit some rest if he feels the abdominal strain is too much.
Although I'd like to have him in for a division game. This is huge.

Frankly, from the reports last week, one could only assume that WB was gonna be on the sidelines in a wheelchair.

Watch McNugget do what our offense refused to do. Exploit the weak Giants secondary.
They might want to get him to start some controversy every week though. I think that was his best game since right after Rush Limbaugh called him overrated.

You may not have noticed, but the Eagles are a pass first team...we're the opposite.
After this game, I don't think either defense will have much to crow about.

tr1, I actually believe the Eagles defense is much improved. You think the Giants will be able to exploit it? In what way? The run or the pass?
I have to admit that Plaxico scares me but, other than that, Shockey never kills us and I'm not worried about Jacobs instead of Tiki.

He was also the secondary coach for 2002-2004 or something like that. So he has a pretty good familiarity with Jim Johnsons defense.
Also, on the flip side, the Eagles O has been practicing against a similar D for years. So it could give them the upperhand.

It pains me to say this, but Eli is different this year...he's pretty clutch (this is the last good thing I'll say about that mouth breather).
And you'll have a good test to see if you guys can actually stop the run. The Giants' O-Line is decent.

BTW, Jacobs is hurt...this guy Ward is adequate.

Hopefully Dawk plays and has the same type of game he had against the Giants at the Meadowlands last year. If they could win without Lito, it would be huge. I can definitely see there being some big passing yardage given up by both teams.

I don't look at the downgrade to Jacobs to Ward. I look at the downgrade from Tiki to Ward as Tiki is what we've been seeing the last x years. I think it's a huge downgrade.

Good point...this will be a very big test for the Eagles run defense which ranks 3rd in the league right now. One thing folks need to realize is that while the Giants DC knows the Eagles system, he left while the OLBs were still Trotter, Jones, and Gaither. Both Trotter and Jones are gone, and Gaither plays a new position.
He never really saw that much of Gocong and he never saw Spikes line up with the Eagles...(outside of game film)
As far as what WB said about Hanson, I actually like him more than Hood. MMmmBopp as the great "goeagles99" calls him is a better man to man cover guy than Hood. Rod is a better tackler though and has more experience, but I like the fact that Hanson plays bigger than he looks and doesn't appear to take plays off like Rod did.

I doubt that spags knows many of the weaknesses of the currrent LBs as Gocong, Gaither, and spikes all weren't starters under him. But he will know a bit about them. I am more interested in what he would know about the blitzes and plays the eagles like and his knowledge of their secondary and what they teach and preach to the linebackers. I hope the giants have Jacobs back or can at least get a lead/ keep it close so Eli isn't forced to air it out all day. The giants oline has shown the can make most backs look good, and if the giants stick to the run game ward can make consistent gains, and droughns can score/ do short yardage. The giants are something like 28th in rushing attempts so far, and ward last time i checked was a top ten rusher, its messed up. This game won't be like the redskins game where Pierce explained everything he knew (36-0). I expect Jim Johnsons knows a lot about what spags wants to do too, and I bet spags knows next to nill about the rest of the eagles team other than the defense.

Good points.....if the game is close, it will come down to whose line is fresher. It will be a battle for sure, but I will pay very close attention to the way the Eagles handle the Giants DEs and the Giants handle the Eagles DTs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Eagles' defense practice against the Eagles offense? I'd expect spags knows everyone of McNabb & companies weaknesses...not to mention tendencies and audibles.

I would expect he would be more interested in preparing for the team they are going to face than to beat mcnabb every practice. Just what i believe man, if I was a LB coach in practice i would be thinkin about the game not trying to beat my team's quarterback. He will know some things but if you are trying to figure out your own team's audibles and tendencies in practice i think you are just asking to get stomped in the real game. I would much rather practice plays and ideas that you think will be useful for the game.

Not to mention, EVERYONE knows how to beat McNabb. Just watch game film of his losses for the past couple of years.

Yeah. Can you imagine if we just had ONE guy on the outside at least as good as Santana Moss.
A combo of him, McNabb and Westbrook would make me mark out everytime they took the field.
We have Reggie "I'll Always Be Hype But Nothing More" Brown and Kevin "Another Mormon On The Roster" Curtis. But hats off to his performance against the worst D in the league :D

The guy who gives us fits on the Eagles is Shawn Andrews. He's really slowed down our pass rush up the middle, and created huge holes for Westy. Though if Thomas is out at LT(which I'm unsure of), I'd expect Osi Umenyoria to have a big game.
Offensively, I think one of the reasons why we've been running the ball so effectively(all things considered), is because Shockey has really improved as a blocker. Last year, though, Dawkins was playing lights out against us. I'm not sure if this injury has slowed him down or not, but without him, I think our offense can be very effective.

Tra missed a nice amount last week I hardly noticed. Don't slight Justice....he is a Thomas clone to an extent. From what I watched of him so far (pre-season and the 3 games so far) he has improved with each chance.

"Q" last season in the second game in NY played Shockey for the most part and was very effective. While he doesn't play the run as well as Dawkins, he is an effective cover man who has experience against Shockey. The Giants might try to exploit that, but then again, who says that Eli would have time? There is a HUGE RUMOR circling that Kearse is about to benched in place of Thomas......if you saw last weeks game, one might have noticed Reid pulled him (he was pretty pi$$ed off when the camera showed him do it!!!) after his second offsides penalty....
Thomas has been playing lights out while Kearse hasn't even registered a full sack yet....

I am glad to see eagles fans are coming around to the fact that the freak is a freak no more. He never really impressed me as an eagle. Watch he will have 12 sacks after i write this... I think eli will have time to make some plays, but shockey hasn't done much against the eagles recently. I see toomer and plax having good days so long as diehl and mackenzie can hold up the outside. I like ohara, seubert, and snee against the eagles interior, its a good fight.
This will be a moot point if spags doesn't stick with using kiwanuka as an attacking linebacker and stops using very different defensive fronts all game.
There were times where kiwi and tuck were the DTs, they were shooting gaps like nothing. I am really interested in how the eagles attack the giants, I would go to the ground game behind andrews and use that to set everything else up. Spags won't be able to use crazy pass rushing fronts and put kiwi on the line if the eagles oline can bulldoze up the gut. I hope kiwi is coming every play, the guy has a knack for getting into the backfield, but is a severe liabity when he plays off the line.

Thanks ptr...now I have to go to the EMB and build my confidence back up!
