I know it's a little early (ok...a LOT early), but as of this week, Washington and Detroit are in the early inside track for the NFC wildcard.
On top of just plain needing to wash off the mud from the Giants choke, this game is HUGE for early positioning for WC.
The way Detroit likes to duck and chuck, I fully expect the Skins to focus on ground and pound with Portis and Betts.
I'm predicting an "old-school" playground fistfight from the Skins and a 24-13 win. :2cents:

Hail.

Id like the ground and pound with A LOT more Portis and A LOT less Betts.

I'll take both...with a little Sellers carrying on 3rd & 4th and 1...

Let's be real here...The Lions aren't being held to 13 points.

This will be a shootout and we better be ready.

if they look anything like they did against the iggles I'd say run or pass will be fine it will be the defense that will have a challenge

Not on grass. Greatest show on turf v2.0 will not be as effective on our field.

I would LOVE to see some rain on Sunday!

The surface will have no effect. We just better be ready is all I'm gonna say.

Very possible we will. All comes down to JC and the O-line as far as I'm concerned.

The offense will have to show up to beat the Lions. Our D is good but we arent going to shut them down.

Hopefully our defense can get in a few defensive touchdowns. We have to matriculate the ball and go one play at a time, one game at a time.

Having said that, I was hoping for a 5-0 record at the start for us to be a little comfortable. More breathing room.

(Dreaming!) But what a confidence booster if we could shut them out!

We won't shut them out, but I doubt they'll put up thirty against us.

were going to need to put up some points. If we don't score atleast 24 points id say were done. I think we should def. be able to with our talent. We just need to be very agressive. Take our shots down field.

Hopefully, our coaches are using the Bears loss to motivate the team. Right now, no one should underestimate the Lions.

We need to get pressure pressure pressure. If you remember the Greatest Show on Turf v1.0, the Saints had their number because they had a great front four that got pressure on the QB. Now, Jon Kitna isn't Kurt Warner of old, but they do put up points. Unfortunately, I don't think our front four can get pressure on Kitna by themselves, so we'll have to blitz, which means our corners have to play incredible. Our offense will have to score a bunch of points either. If we pull this out we will definitely be going to the playoffs.

Just unlease the JC cannon and then we can all say, 3-1!!! HTTR!

We need to put up like 35 points to make sure we win this one.

The Bears defense now and the Skins defense now is not even comparable. The Bears just suck. I will say this, the Skins just need to play their game on offense but with a killer instinct and the defense needs to get off the field on third downs this game and I see the Skins with the W.

You can't take much from what Detroit did to the Bears. They have mounting injuries.

We'll be fine as long as we execute better coming out of the half.

Skins win, 24-16

Ball control, ball control, ball control. Eagles win because they don't turn it over to the Lions. Chicago loses because they do turn it over. Minnesota and Oakland both controlled the Lions fairly well...but they also turned the ball over. You can't give Detroit an opportunity.

Let's hope the bye week has helped Wade and Fabini (maybe DeMulling?) get it together for the run game. Lions could be up for one of their off games. They don't play so well in the east.

Hopefully Portis will get his 25+ carries.

the thing with the lions is we need to score td's. we can have a 14 point lead with 5 minutes left and detroit can come back very quickly. this game scares me, then again all games scare me.

Winning the TOP with Portis will be important. But more than that, I think we should let Moss run like hell and Campbell air it out. The Lions D is improved, but their secondary is still terrible.

I haven't paid much attention to the Lions this season, other than the Philly game. Let's be honest, anytime a team puts up 56 points, 42 at the half, it's probably an aberration. This was proven true since Philly didn't do jack against us or the Giants.

So either the Lions defense is awful, or they had a bad game. I haven't seen or read about any of their other games; what is their defense like? Strong or weak against the run? Against the pass? I can't name anyone on their D except Ernie Sims.

And I agree with the above posters, our D better be ready. I don't think the Tatum Bell/Kevin Jones combo will run much on us, but they've got a lot of good receivers and a QB who likes to air it out. And he has God on his side, don't forget it took a miracle to come back from a concussion or something.

The Bears haven't looked like the same defense at all (like last year).

everybody is saying the lions are gonna put up 30+ points..if we play the game we are accustomed to and for the most part it seems like the message board wants to..we are all about ball posession and the more we can run all over these guys the longer they stay off the field and the more they have to play our game

Speaking of Wild Card Battles...

These next 3 weeks are absolutely huge!
Detroit is in 2nd in their Division then GB who is 1st in that same division

Then Arizona who is 2nd in the west.

I know it's still early but we have an opportunity to hand a loss to most of our competition for the wild card. Unless we see a Dallas collapse, these games can make or break our season. I don't want to be sitting here week 17 one game out and saying "if only we had beaten Detroit at home it would be us instead of them."

We gotta bring it for a nice run these next 3 before we have to head to Foxboro.
