Look at the upcoming four games. These will decide our season. We face three other NFC teams that have records that are better or equal to ours. Before the beginning of our season I chalked up the Patriots game as a loss. Stranger things have happened and I would love to beat those guys..I just don't see it happening. Now for the Lions, Packers, and Cardinals...that's a different story. We are capable of beating all of those teams, but it will not be easy. At the beginning of the year I don't think anyone would have seen these four games as being the most important of the season, but I do. If we can play well in these four games then will will have a great boost to face the cowboys twice, the giants in NY, and the eagles once more.

Paloffs is now!
No doubt that these next two home games will make a big difference. If we can win both and start a road trip at 4-1 that would be great. People seem to be over looking the fact that Green Bay does not run the ball well at all.

Something stinks in the NFL this year, and I don't like it.
Just when your team starts showing some signs of life after a long hibernation, people start tampering with the staus quo, and threaten your success by their uppityness.
For years I tolerated their existence because they behaved and minded their place. They didn't bother me. But now they're becomming an annoyance that cannot be ignored. Maybe it's our fault. Maybe we should have paid a little more attention to them, and threw a few bones here and there, and they might have stayed where they belonged, but no.
Now, because of our complacency, we are going to have to pull out the tear gas, and riot gear all over again to put down this silly rebellion.
Just who do the Lions think they are, anyway? Perrenial bottom feeders for so long now dare to deviate from tradition? Does someone need to remind them of their purpose in the leauge?
Green Bay. Where do they get off winning four games in a row, when it was made perfectly clear in article 2. Paragraph 12. of the NFL Fodder Declaration some years back that quote, "no greater than two games shall be won during any portion of the season by fodder member teams unless specifically approved by a legitimate organisation in advance"
And the most offensive - the Cardinals. The utter temerity of these people to brazenly buck the system that has served everyone so well for so long. After all, did we not offer the appropriate false sympathy as required whenever they fulfilled their losing duties? Weren't we properly patronizing of the few things they did marginally well after defeating them?
Is this how we are to be re-paid? After all we have done to maintain stability in this leauge?
No, people. We cannot afford to ignore this betrayal. It is time to load up the rubber bullets and don the gas masks, and put these ungrateful rebels back in their rightful place, in the murky bottom silt of the NFL.
We need to do it now, before our way of football life is gone forever.

The key to the success over the next few weeks. We need to control the game. Blowouts are not going to be the answer. We are going to need to be mythodical moving downfield. Establish the run game and completely control the clock. Detroit, Arizona, and New England all have passing games that if we resort to a shootout, it's going to be tough.
If we run effectively, controling the clock, we can beat them. Keep their offense and our defense off the field, keeping our defense as effective as possible.

I see your point. What you describe is redskins football. However if we get a nice lead we have to continue to do what we did to get the lead for the entire game. If we got the lead by pounding it and ruling the line of scrimmage, then keep it up. If we got the lead by throwing some long shots then we have to continue to go to the well until they prove that they can stop whatever it is that we're doing.

going into the Giants game, people were saying we were going to need to jump out to an early lead.. i said i didnt want to see that happen because i knew what was going to happen... and it did.
Call it cliche but we need to make them play OUR game. Hard nosed, in your face football, in the trenches. Line the corners up on "outside technique" and let Taylor and Landry run the middle of the field. Blitz the linebackers and get in the QB's heads... EARLY and OFTEN. Be extremely aggressive on defense...

Blowouts are not going to be the answer? Who are you? Joe Gibbs!? Get that **** out of here. If we can blow out a team we need to blow them out. We need to play every game like we can blow out the other team EVEN if we lose it. What we did against the Giants was disgusting and you trying to justify Gibbs's 'control the clock' mentality is even more disgusting.
If they think like that for the next 4 games our season is over.

my point was that we cant go into this thinking we are going to destroy them because what happened last week will happen again.
i'm not trying to justify Gibbs' clock managment, that game made me sick. But what made me sick is not the lack of managment of the clock, it's the fact that we went away from what was winning.. This team is not geared for the blowout style of play. Its geared to win football games the tough way. You really think this team could even come close to handling the high power offense of the 91 superbowl team? That team could go anywhere and do anything they wanted. But getting into a shooting match is not this teams forte. Get mad at me for saying that but i'm being honest. This team has the ability to win, this team has the ability to really be great, but it needs to understand it's style and it needs to continue it. you wanting this team to think they can blow any teams out is completely out of whack. This team is not set up for that style of offense and that style of winning. If they would have stuck to their original gameplan they would be 3-0 right now. I just want consistancy.

This team is not going to blow anyone out. If they win its with a strong D and JC not making mistakes and somehow, the O-line getting some lanes open for Portis. Scores will be low, as usual.
When the Skins loose, it will be ugly.

Lions Packers and Cardinals are 3 teams We all probely had the Skins winning at the beggining of the year. This is why I dont agree with giving out scedueles according to last year finish. The teams that were bad last year are not this year. We should have an easy sceduale , now we have the toughest in the league

We have got to win 2 of the next 3 (followed by @ Pats) minimum. What was supposed to be an easier part of our schedule is suddenly real tough. If we don't play well and the Boys continue playing like they are we could be in trouble. On top of that, the Giants next 4 are the Jets, Atl, SF and Miami. The Skins really could be playing for their season the next 3 weeks. With that said, I think we have the talent in place to do it.

Brett Favre will carve up this secondary, especially if there is no pass rush. There is no chance this team beats the Pats either. I think a 4-3 record would be an achievement for this team after the next 4 games.

Yeah, it seems funny that every year I look at the schedule and say, oh awesome, we have a bunch of easy games this year. And every season, sure as the sun rises, those "easy" teams turn out to be playoff contenders. Which brings me to believe that God may in fact hate the Redskins, haha.

Brett Favre is known to have bad games, and those bad games are ussually really bad games. I just hope when he does its against us.

I'm worried about the Lions. We seem to do terrible against teams peaking by the time we play them. Short of the outcome of Sunday's game I see a loss to the Packers and I see us struggling a bit to Arizona. Happy as hell thats a home game and not at Sundevil.

Just our Skins consistent godawful way of making mediocre teams seem that way. I'm so tired of that scenario. Hope it comes to an end Sun.

Unfortunately, it seems a lot of people are under the impression that "Redskins Football" cannot be equated with "blowout wins." This is totally erroneous, but Gibbs is making it very hard for me to defend our time proven method of beating the living snot out of teams. Whereas our philosophies have been exactly the same in Gibbs I and II (use the run to set up the pass, get a lead, then pound the rock), currently it's not working because of the type of schizophrenic playcalling that is evident when one offensive coordinator has his system lasso-ed by his head coach. One of the three scenarios needs to go down:
1) Gibbs lays the foundation for our philosophy and Saunders executes it.
2) Saunders lays the foundation for our philosophy and Gibbs executes it.
If one of these doesn't happen, then one is expendable and needs to be fired (scenario 3). We cannot have one of them simply take over all playcalling during one half of a game when the first was so successful. I hope that this type of coaching malfunction can be fixed before we play anymore games, otherwise this is going to be a long, frustrating season. We have the talent to blow people out using Redskins football, we just don't have the coaching consistency.
