A CBS-TV sports producer has been charged in an undercover Internet sting in which investigators say he tried to make arrangements to film himself having sex with a child.

Daniel J. Barron, 56, of Boonton Township, N.J., was arrested Saturday. He was still at the Broward County Jail late Monday, held on $75,000 bond.

For the sting, a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office detective entered an Internet chat room titled "Open minded parents" and posed as a father with a young daughter. Barron approached the undercover investigator in the chat room and arranged for the "father" to deliver him his 11-year-old daughter, authorities said.

Barron, in town to cover to the Dolphins game Sunday, promised the "father" he would be gentle, authorities said. Barron used his CBS-owned laptop to conduct the dialogue, according to an arrest report. St. Lucie investigators coordinated with Fort Lauderdale police, the Broward Sheriff's Office and U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

That evening, Barron drove to a parking lot in the 1300 block of Southeast 17th Street, where he thought he would meet the girl and her father, police said. He was arrested.

Well, that's kinda like sports, right? I mean...it's active....

Ok, enough with the sick jokes. But when are these morons going to learn to not mess around in these chat rooms? I feel very lucky I never got into that stuff. I just can't get past the visual of the giant fat guy with no shirt saying how he's a hot, 21 year old female stripper. I would be convinced that is who I was talking to every time!

Or if it is in fact a female, it's some frickin' manatee, complete with whiskers, saying how she is 5'8" and 120 or something!

It scares me.

I've had people tell me in the past that if you're negotiating a drug deal, prostitution or whatever else along those lines and if you ask the person if they're a cop they have to admit if they are or the arrest can't stick. Is this true and if so, does it apply to the internet as well?

Absolutely 0 truth to that rumor. Think of how hard that would make it for the police to do their jobs. It is tried a lot though, just watch "Cops - prostitute edition"

I think a better question is how can you be that desperate that you have to turn to a child for that?

I've mentioned once or twice here that I work in association with "America's Most Wanted." Types like this guy are who we LOVE to nail. I sincerely hope the charges stick on this one and he rots in a cell.

It's also funny to see people who seem so "normal" end up like this. It goes to show that they can pop up ANYWHERE. Even in one's own office. Ugh.
