View Full Version : Is it time for the NFL address stadiums and weather?

It seems the Smashmouth football we were all used to in the early years is not best suited for the players of this generation. Those players are too few and older anyway....

Should the stadiums of the Northern states : NE, GB, CHI, NYG/NYJ, SF, CLE etc. be domed?

Skins have always wanted to have a dome, so they could host the Super Bowl, NFL needs to address this in the near future!

Weather dictates to much in the NFL, and with each game meaning so much to NFL franchises (player injuries, games, turf issues etc.) how can the NFL not look into this potenetial issue?

NFL time to make a change!!!

I hate to make a curt response, but......

W......T.........F?

Did you see the Super Bowl last year?

It was in Miami......and it rained. A lot harder than it was in Wisconsin today.

So your going to be THAT guy who blames the weather? We self destructed...what's new. If they can't play in a little rain than they shouldn't even be on the field.

The weather didn't cause Moss or Portis to fumble. Cooley was able to catch the ball, Keenan caught a couple of balls but for some reason our 20 million receivers were not able to catch a freakin ball. Plus, the weather didn't make the play call to throw behind the line on 4 and 2.

This thread is absurd. Why don't they wear flags around their waists so they don't have to play tackle anymore.

I used to think Football was an outdoor sport, but more and more I see players who cannot adapt to weather and adverse conditions....

Field conditions can cripple a franchise with injuries (today) (Skins) (OL), but I believe the NFL needs to address this issue.

Needless injuries that do not need to happen!

just a thought!

They need to stop being pu****s and play.. they get played millions and millions of dollars to play.. they don't need a dome.. play in sleet, snow , whatever..

we need to stop babying these players.. stop making football a pu*** sport.

If I made 10 million dollars.. I'd play in any damn weather at 3:00 AM

Definitely concur.

Even the players aren't using the weather as an excuse. Cooley himself said that the weather isn't a factor. That the players have to concentrate more.

when your team loses, you get unnecessary threads like this one

I guessing from that you believe none of the rain touched any of the Packers today...

I agree , you can't change rules to make bad teams look better , the Skins aren't ready to be competitive week in and week out , its oging to be up and down for now ^ ^ hopefully more up than down

Games and players mean too much to NFL franchises in today's world to have the 3rd X-factor become such a problem!

I too believe in the players need to concentrate and play for the millions they make, but it seems there is too much at stake for NFL franchises to have weather and field conditions...

Skins used to be a "smashmouth" team, but seemed to become soft over the years....

Injuries have always happened. It's isn't the rain, it's the animals running at you trying to rip your head off.

It was a sloppy game on both sides of the ball. Farve was throwing more like Brunell. But I was impressed with Campbell's ability to get the ball where it needed to be. The old man (Keenan) looked great and I think we could have won the game if he started the game as the primary WR.

Oh yeah, getting back to the poster's thead. If a player can't play in sloppy weather, then he shouldn't be playing. I think it would be blasphemous if they ever decided to dome over Lambeau Field. C'mon lets get real, if you don't like the weather, then become an Arena League fan.

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado, and the best time I had playing was when the snow was flying, or we were in ankle deep mud.

Real football is played outside on grass.

Maybe you would prefer to watch Arena football. It's high-scoring and exciting!

Weren't we just last week ridiculing Detroit fans for blaming their loss on tall grass?

Let's not make those kinds of excuses, please!

Oh yeah, and about the injuries; more injuries seem to happen in domes. Astro-turf seems less forgiving than grass (primarily knee injuries, and concussions).

You want to dome Lambeau? Good heavens.

October-14th-2007, 04:26 PM
Why not have every stadium go to a dome? Maybe shrink the field and the goalposts too. Could put the Arena Football League out of business.

This may be the worse thread I have seen on here all year.
