View Full Version : My Great Time at Fed Ex Today

Since all we ever seem to hear are the horror stories about how Fed Ex is Thunderdome, I thought I'd offer a counterpoint.

I had an awesome time at the stadium today. I took a co-worker who is a diehard Cardinals fan. He grew up in St. Louis and has followed the team for 30-some years. Everyone we ran into was respectful. He took the normal good-natured ribbing (which I encouraged), but nothing over-the-top. Even during the tense 4th quarter, everything was cool.

The crowd in my section (431) was LOUD, and cheered their asses off when we were on defense. It was really nice to see just about everyone stand up and support the team on the crucial 3rd downs in the 4th.

I didn't see any fights, didn't have to step over any vomit, and wasn't forced to buy any overpriced items. It was a great day for Redskins football.

I had a lousy day in 403 and was told to sit down.........
And this was on a crucial 3rd down.....

Oh and did I mention 403 was pretty quiet today?
Oh and did I also mention there were way too many people leaving the game early when the game was close and the team could have used a united 12th Man

Didn't help most of you who left early.....you still were stuck in traffic.

I was in 431 as well. I thought the game was altogether very well. Everyone seemed to balance being loud with being respectful. I saw plenty of beer get passed around but no one was drunk, I didn't hear a single cuss word all day, and while I also saw the friendly arguing I thought your friend (If it is who I assume it was) was very good natured and respectful. Not to mention when people stood up, everyone else just stood up to. No arguing, no fighting, it was pretty swell actually. Cheers to 431.

I had a great time too. It was the first time I took the metro and walked to the stadium. The walk wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, and it sure beat waiting in traffic.

I did, however, see two people vomit today. One guy vomited while running down the stairs from section 421, he hit some lady sitting in an aisle seat, and hit his girlfriend in the back. Also, a lady was sitting on the curb outside beside a huge pile of puke. I'm sure it was hers, cause her head was down.

The worst part of the game was watching the horrible win. Yes they won, but yes, it was horrible.

This 2nd half meltdown has got to stop!

Ya In the first quater the same clown every week in my section 126 always yells down in front and the ******* ahead of me usually do, me and my buddies don't i just let him yell until he gets fed up and stands up...but this time i was proud of my fellow sectioners and they all were standing when we were on D and we all were ignoring him and forced the fat bastard to get off his ass and actually act like a fan for a change instead of a drunk ass clown...it was a good time had by all...except maybe for that guy

I had an ok time today with my brother, we went up there to catch the game for our birthday. We were in 407, one guy a few rows down from us got yelled at to sit, he was being a jerk though. Saw a small fight break out after the game, some dude was there wearing his cowpuke garb and some guy said something to him, next thing i know cups and fists are flying for about 10 seconds. The skins fan got clocked in the mouth, and he and his friend went up to the exit of the tailgate lot and waited for the cowboy fan to come out, but as I was driving out, a cop pulled in, so that ambush was taken care of. that was my second game at FedEx, I enjoyed it with the full understanding that some people would imbibe a bit too much. Anyhoo, let's hope that the skins can make the game interesting against the pats.

Some of our "fans" are more worried about beating traffic than the outcome of the game.

Here's the thing with the traffic...if you put 92,000 people in one place there's going to be problems getting out. I have a parking pass for the cash lot, so usually I take the buses. After getting back to my car, I normally drive down 202 (past the stadium again) and get onto 50 to head back to NOVA through the city. The bus gets me back to the cash lot in 20-30 minutes or so, and by that time some people have left the lots and are already on the beltway (which I never take). Yesterday I had a parking pass in the stadium lots, so we tailgated afterward for about an hour or so, and then hit the road. We had no problems whatsoever, and we were home in about 40 minutes. So let the dummies that want to "beat the traffic" get out, and then make your way onto the highways. And by the way, if you're that worried about beating the traffic, don't come.

I am so sick of people who drink so much alcohol that they make themselves ill and ruin things for everyone else. If you can't handle yourself when you drink, then stay away from the mess. I have a hard time with irresponsible people and those who think they need to drink a ton of alcohol to have a good time.

I took my cousin's husband (a life-long Redskins fan) to his first-ever game yesterday. The weather was perfect and the ExtremeSkins tailgate was great as usual.

As with every week, I never once heard anyone in my section (453) ever tell anyone else to sit down. When someone stood, everyone else just followed suit. We all yelled on defense, shut up on offense and eschewed the wave on principle.

The only thing even resembling an incident was the mother in front of us who turned to ask the 20-somethings next to me to please not swear around her kids. Guess what, they didn't and everyone was happy.

Another great day at FedEx! (Though it would be nice if folks wouldn't leave so early when the game is still undecided).

I too had a great time at the game yesterday.

The tailgate was the best one so for this season.

We were pretty loud throughout most of the game in section 328, but I was VERY impressed when my entire section stood up and screamed on the Cards 2-point conversion attempt and at the field goal try at the end of the game.

Who says fans in the Club don’t stand up and cheer??? :D

I had a great time yesterday. We were in section 120 row 2. (right behind the dreamseats). We were hollering our heads off and standing probably more than sitting and nobody told us to sit. By the 4th qtr i had no voice and a throbbing headache and was abolutely torched by the sun. I thought FEDEX was loud...maybe not NFC EAST rival loud but it was pretty loud, i was impressed.

Down in the trenches (100 levels) I didnt see anyone leaving early until after Landry picked off the pass on the 2 pt conversion that Boldin threw. I was shocked folks were leaving....they were still an on-side kick away from another shot to win. Which they almost did.

At the end from where we were I couldnt tell if the FG was good or not I basically had to wait for the crowds reaction.

Probably the first time ive been to a game where i saw less than 5 fans of the opposing team and none even close to where I sat.

HTTR...a win is a win even if ugly.

Well, I brought a friend of mine who's birthday was yesterday. I introduced her to the ExtremeSkins crew. She got a chance to sample Pez's wings, which she called "wonderful." She also met Skins legend Neal Olkewicz, who was signing autographs before the game, and got a chance to go to the bottom of the section we were in to see James Thrash, Rock Cartwright and Antwaan Randle El up close and personal. Most importantly, the Skins won!

I had a great time as well.

I took my mom and my brother (none of us had ever been) and they sat in Section 416 while I was in 411.

I didn't think the view would be as good as it was. I guess the way the stadium is built allows for a good view no matter where you sit. We had four Cardinals fans (wtf?) sitting in front of us. When Arizona scored that first touchdown, one of the guys stood up and yelled "FIGHT FOR ARIZONA". I then proceeded to ask him why he was here because I didn't think the Cardinals actually had fans. I suppose they had nothing better to do...

It was a great experience and I'll post links to pictures and videos as soon as I upload them. My 7 year old brother couldn't stop thanking me for taking him all the way home (4+ hours from Landover to Roanoke). He is now officially a Redskins fan. Glad that I started him early.

One more thing.. is traffic always that horrible after the game on the Beltway?

My wife and I made our annual once a year trip to fed ex yesterday, and we had a very good time. Dude, it may seem like 20 minutes to you, but it's more like 45-55 minutes. The only way I could see those buses getting back to the cash lots that quickly is if you either left the game early, or really late. I gave up on the buses after the Lion game and just walk. Hell, I might as well get the exercise if it takes just as long.

I want my Blue lot passes back again, so I can actually tailgate after the game and wait for traffic. Note to self (and anyone else), never downgrade to cash lot passes to save a few bucks.

The people in my section (125) were a bit less compliant when it came to getting up and making noise than normal... but it seemed we were missing a few regulars who help out with that. Fortunately, we did get a little louder towards the end (ESPECIALLY after that chain of penalties that had everyone united against the refs).

Overall, though, the experience was still good. Outside of dealing with unenthusiastic fans who sit all game and putting up with losing seasons I've never really had a terrible experience at FedEx field (that wasn't my own damn fault).

I had a great time in section 332 row 14 thanks to ramseytocooley!!!!

Great seats in the end zone where we could see the plays develop. Easy getting into the stadium and easy getting out about an hour after the game. I have always enjoyed myself at Fedex. Never had any issues of any kind.

My only complaint was the people in the section. I was asked to sit down once. Almost no one stood up at all. At the end of the game I as it was almost slipping away and we were trying to make a stand to keep them out of field goal range not a single person in the 5 rows in front of me stood up.

I had to scream and wave my hand to get people to stand up. I was yelling my head off. "You pay $200+ a seat and you can't support your team when they need you. Get off your *** and cheer for your team. You can sit and watch at home. If you are here then you need to get up"

At that point people stood up. :)

I went to my first game ever yesterday, courtesy of Skins0128. I flew in at 10am and flew back out at 9pm. We were in section 429, and it was awesome. We made noise every time our defense was on the field. Yelling, clapping, pounding on the seats. The atmosphere was great, everyone was getting along. Even the Cardinal fan and his young son. No one bothered them, and one guy even game the little kid a high five after their first TD. It made the kid happy. There was good natured heckling of the people in other team's colors, but there was nothing mean spirited being said or done from anybody.

Me and Skins0128 tried to be respectful of the elderly couple behind us by not standing up in front of them, it was hard, and I did jump up a few times. But they never told me to sit down, and when I apologized, they said it was fine.

I had an amazing time. I didn't meet one bad egg the entire day. FedEx rocks!

Exactly. It's not like the stadium is going to be overrun with Cards fans. I think I saw 3 all day. From the tone of some people you'd think I brought 10 Cowboys fans to see a playoff game. Well, maybe you can at least stop preaching to everyone that has problems with FedEx. wow...he brought THE Cardinals fan...the only one I have known to exist. The stadium problems had nothing to do with the the Cardinals Fan. I actually saw more Cowboy fans at the stadium then Cardinals fans. At least the Cardinals were actually playing in the stadium. Who the **** brings a Cowboys fan?, let alone when they aren't even playing the Skins. Is there a problem with Cardinals fans overrunning Fed Ex? No? That's what I thought, therefore I'm not contributing to any problem. Is there a problem with NFC East rivals fans in our stadium? Yes. I would never bring those fans to a game or sell my tickets to one. Maybe you can think about the situation before you preach to me about contributing to a problem. As soon as there is a problem with Cardinal fans overrunning the stadium I'll be the first to react. kthnx

Please provide everyone on this board what the "approved" list of teams that we can sell tickets to. Does that list include the Ravens fans? They're not in our division.

Your excuse is a joke. Redskins tickets should belong to Redskins fans.

We had a great time at the game yesterday except between 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The third and forth quarters were not pleasant. The pre and post game tailgating however was awesome as usual.

I'll turn in my hardcore, diehard, super-smart, super-tough card at the door.

Raub, you don't have to turn in your "hardcore, diehard, super-smart, super-tough card" for bringing a NON-DIVISION fan with you to a game.

Yeah, like we got over run by Cardinal fans yesterday.

Heck, when they were in our division, you saw very few Card fans at the games, both at RFK and at FedEx.

Yeah, too bad we lost.
Yeah, wasn't even close.
