Until the coaching staff starts allowing the talent to do what it does best.. we all might as well go wash our cars on Sunday afternoons
Al Saunders can take his 800 page playbook and seek life elsewhere for all I care... but before he goes I want a look at the book.. I just KNOW 798 pages are blank... I'd rather see Campbell call his own plays at this point..
Thank God for the D this week.. but I think the next time they're forced to drop into a Prevent every fan in the stadium should be refunded $5 from their ticket price.. I figure by the time "the drive" is over (and there's ALWAYS "a drive" at the end of the game lately) the fans will be able to pay for the therapy they need after enduring it. I know I still have a twitch from yesterday..
I'll fight to the death that this team has as much if not more talent than any other in the NFL.. but if they have to keep playing with One hand tied behind their backs...

Don't you think Gibbs is telling him to run the ball and handcuffing him?

You've heard the term playing scared? Well with this team, it's coaching scared. I think it might be the fear of the unknown that is keeping Gibbs handcuffed.
"Meanwhile, the playcalling showed the imagination of dirt. For $2 million, the playcaller in the booth should make chicken salad out of chicken feathers.
“We tried to do the things we think we can do,” coach Joe Gibbs said."
The quote above came straight from the horses mouth, which proves he has little confidence in his offense. To me, you just don't go out and buy a bunch of horses if you don't plan to run 'em. If Gibbs was so worried about the Arizona defense, I hate to see his game plan for New England next week.

no... besides the fact that the run vs. pass was just about 50/50 at the half..
I think Joe's just giving him entirely too much leash to run on...

I'm not sure if it's Saunders or Gibbs, but one of them has to talk with the other one & say look in the 2nd half our play calling sucks. hopefully this adjusted sooner rather then later.

The players are dong things to lose games. Gibbs is allowing players to make mistakes and do stupid things to let teams get back into the game. Any other coach would not allow such stupidity and carelessness with the football happen like gibbs is doing. He is just accepting it and moving on.

In the local paper today was an opinion article about the Raiders. The gist of it was that the Raders weren't going to win the SB, much less make the playoffs, so they should just pull out all the stops and have fun. Play loose throw the ball. Who cares?
I think the Skins should take a little of that approach. Although we are better than the Raiders and we do have a team that could make the playoffs, I doubt we could win, much less make it to the SB. So the O should just go out and have fun. Go for broke, see what they can do. Us all 7, 8 or 900 pages of the fabled playbook.
Just go for it!!

I suppose the coaches should have had JC do a seven step drop all day yesterday so they could get him injured.
Yeah, I'm sure everyone would have said, "Great, we were at least aggressive," had JC been injured or sacked 15 times.
I still can't believe that folks are overlooking that patch-work line...
...and to be angry about a WIN...

It's the second half that bothers me.
Saunders reputation coming here was that he liked to pass first to loosen up the run defenses. Well, Saunders has conformed to Gibbs' requests. Some of that may be a good thing. But there is no doubt in my mind that the conservative second half game plans are from Gibbs.

You're confused, my man. Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson are household names, yet I bet half of all Kansas City fans couldn't name their #1 WR during Saunders' tenure. Saunders loves to run. The game plan looks conservative because the players arent making the plays. You could draw up the best pass play in the world, but if the receiver drops the pass it will look like crap.

Um, Tony Gonzalez.
You are totally confused. Saunders also was part of the Greatest Show on Turf in St. Louis, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt. Also, see Kurt Warner and Trent Green. He came here as a guy to fix our passing game. He is a pass specialist, not a run specialist. And his gameplans generally consist of passing to loosen up the Run defenses.
And, I totally disagree about players just not making plays. The play calling was run, run, pass for the entire second half. And that is Gibbs' influence, I suspect. I'm not in the meetings, but I just suspect that Gibbs is the one turning off the fire too early.

Excuse me but we had pretty much the same starting offensive line last year and we went 5-11. The o-line is fine we just need to let Campbell make plays at the line and Send JG home in the half.

Same offensive line? Considering one guy from last years line played yesterday, you could not be more wrong.
I don't think we need to seven step drop every time. My point is just that we are going into a four minute offense to run the clock out with 10 mins left in the third quarter.
I would just like to see us TRY to really bury a team. Haven't seen that.

You are talking like the Redskins are 2-4 instead of 4-2. There's nothing wrong with the coaching staff. They are calling the plays that they see will work against whatever defense is matching up against the offense. Campbell won't be calling his own plays until he learns more about the pro game than he knows and has been to five or six pro bowls. He's not on the level as a Peyton Manning and won't be for sometime.
HAil to the Redskins!

Sigh.
The coaches didn't drop that pass on 3rd Down, Cooley did.
The coaches didn't shank that easy FG, Suisham did.
You have to own it.
