An open letter to all redskins players.

I have no idea if there is any chance you will read this but every so often a fan like me feels compelled to speak out in hopes that you will hear him, so here goes....

By now I'm sure you are as tired of hearing how you have no chance to beat the Patriots this Sunday as I am. The point spread alone is a slap in the face but if that were not bad enough, the media is acting as if this game is done and over. They aren't even talking about it. They are already talking Patriots vs Colts. If THAT isn't an insult, I don't know what is.

Let's be honest for a moment, The patriots are an amazing team. They are probably the best team you have ever faced. But then again, they have never faced a defense like yours before and you do have the weapons on offense to score points.

This game is NOT written in stone. You CAN win this. All you have to do is go out there on Sunday and impose your will upon the guy in front of you. Yeah, I know, it's much easier for me to say that sitting in front of a computer than it is to do but I have watched this team grow and I believe you can do it. I think that if you look deep down inside, you know you can do it too. Don't think of the Patriots as a team, think of them as a bunch of individuals that can each be beaten. Just beat the guy in front of you and if that happens enough times then the Patriots as a team can be beat.

This game cant be won with a fancy game plan. But it can be won by knocking the snot out of the guy in front of you. You want to stop Moss? Knock the snot out of him. You want to stop Brady? Find a way to do what no one else has done and knock the snot out of him. You need that extra yard for the first down or the score? That's right, knock the snot out of the guy in front of you. Because it does not matter how talented they are, or how fast, or smart. If you knock the snot out of them, they are just another guy and if you do that to enough of them, they are just another team.

And here's the thing guys... You have nothing to lose. The only way you can really lose is to go out and roll over for them. Everyone thinks there is no way for you to win so what is the worst that can happen if you go out there and punish them for 60 minutes? If they are as good as everyone says they are, you will still have done what no one else has done this year and made sure they know they have been in a fight.

And who knows, you may even win.

I believe you can.

Send Rogers on a CB blitz the first defensive series and knock the mucus out of Brady. Send a London Fletcher in the zone so he cab anticipate a jarring hit on Kyle Brady, thus knocking the snot out of him. Have LaRon Landry and Sean Taylor playing deep so that when Randy Moss catches the ball, a split second later, those safeties are flying to the ball and to the receiver and laying him out on the Gillette Stadium turf.

I'll sign my name to this letter. I'm so sick of all the arrogant Pats fans saying the best we can possibly hope for is to lose by 38-14 or so.

I don't believe it for a second. As has been amply pointed out the combined record of the teams NE has beated is 17-28. Not to say they are not a great team, because they are.

But they have not been tested by a defense playing like this. And we have absolutely no pressure on us as the world has decided we will be obliterated.

Every Redskin can play with total joy and abandon and just fly all over the field all day and make every play they can and leave it all out there.

And when the gun sounds around 730pm in Foxboro on Sunday I fully expect a shocked world to look up at the scoreboard and see it read:

Skins: 24
Patriots: 20

Hail.

Excellent post. If you believe it, it can happen. Sack up, go out there, and show the world who you are. As a team, as men.
It is easy for us to criticize these guys as a team and individually. These are their jobs. We ALL have gone to our jobs and felt like today wasn't the day to be the best that we can be. We've all done that. When five o'clock rolls around and we're rolling out to our cars, we rarely take that half-ass day home with us. I don't think it's too much to think that the players do this too.
But, we're not out there getting our heads kicked in. We're not out there playing with injuries that would have most of us sitting on our sofas asking our significant others to bring us another glass of milk.
These guys want it too, and want it bad. Let's see it Sunday boys. NOONE is giving you a chance. You show em they're wrong. Its fun proving people wrong. We all know that.

Seriously, we know Randy Moss can be intimidated. I'm sure film sessions in Foxboro this week had him holding his head in hands...but...

It's inevitable that Brady will complete passes...he's too accurate not to...and he'll have time to complete a few...so we need a few drops.

Go with the Superbowl 26 game plan?

Punish, punish and keep punishing those WR's

I remember the way Brad Johnson pounded James Lofton, Andre Reed and Don Bebee. Absolutley demolished a very fearsome group of WR's

I agree with you, those WR's need to get hit real hard

But it snot gonna work, 'cause the Skins need no motivation. We are the only team in the NFL that Tom Brady hasn't been able to beat. The Patriots haven't beat the Redskins in 35 years. And just in case that isn't enough, even the lousy Steve Spurrier led team beat the Patriots.

It's time to trash the conservativism and have some fun, cut 'er loose and let 'er rip!! The Pats are goin' down!!!

Good post although I hope it somehow doesn't make it to the Pats locker room along with ours. :silly:

They can be beaten (Can't they?) but it will be very difficult to do. I would feel a lot better about it if the game was at FedEx instead of there. We simply play much better at home than we do away.

They do have a weakness... unfortunately for us it is their defense. Our weak offense will still have great difficulty moving the ball on them. Campbell in particular will have a hard time with Belicheat's shemes. He really brings out the works for young, inexperienced QB's.

Our strength (defense) plays directly to their strength (offense)... and to everyone who looks... their strength is further along than ours. They may be the best offense in decades. We simply have one of the best defenses this year. The 85 Bears or 2000 Ravens might not be able to stop their offense.

We have to hope they're off on that day. That's the only way I see it happening. We can forget about getting to Brady. Even teams with very good DL can't get to him.

I say the only way we have a chance is like you said... get physical with their WR's. It's a longshot, but it just might work.

To the offense line of the Redskins , Let spread the run plays out on the ends instead of gaps in hope that they spead the line and aloud us to have time in the pocket to pass the ball, I know the o -line is new and hurt by we hold the element of surprise and that is doing what they thank we won't do and that is run to the right side wide on the edge make their tackles and lineman run themselves tired early in hopes that Campbell will have a chance to hit our receivers for some big plays .......We can do this .......Just A Day in the Park........So lets go out there and above all have FUN............ October-25th-2007, 04:29 PM
it's real simple...just keep playing our defense, keep everyone in front of you & make them pay for making a play. after they've taken a beating, they become less likely to stretch out to make a big catch (see T.O.), less likely to make wreckless runs across the middle & they become more susceptible to turnovers.

there is one problem i fear...Bilichick & company may see this as our best strength & as we all know that Bilichick tries to take away each opponnents' greatest strength on a weekly basis, he may just try to do that by limiting turnovers.

he'll likely keep the passes short with the occasional deep pass to keep us honest & he'll tell his RB's to keep 2 hands on the ball at all times. while that will not be a great variation from the norm with them, what will be different is you might see Moss, Welker & Stallworth get the hell down once a reception is made & you might see alot of low passes from Brady. this would be ok for us so long as our D doesn't get impatient & frustrated.

i feel that we would survive quite well if they employed this strategy as our D seems to be predicated upon a Tampa-2 type of ideaology. no, i don't simply mean the cover-2 scheme...but more importantly allowing the O to make plays under the umbrella of where we allow them to gain space & then coming up & making plays. however, if the game starts to slide a little & the Pats continue to go down before contact, our D could get coaxed into jumping routes & things like that that are out of our nature. this is where we could get into real trouble.

the key:

STAY DISCIPLINED! that is really all we need to do. stay disciplined & be physical. do those things & execute on the offensive side of the ball & we could very well see an upset this week. perhaps one of the greatest upsets of all-time.

Very good letter, however let us also ask Gibbs to not call the plays in the second half. I believe Saunders will call a game that will allow us to win, but this ultra conservative playcalling by Gibbs is driving me crazy. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Please Lord Please I know this is wrong but can you provide a miracle and let Gibbs totally lose his voice for tomorrow!

If Saunders calls the whole game I see 21 - 24 points. If Gibbs comes and starts calling the plays I see us scoring no more than 6 points......:2cents:

Earlier in the week, I fell into the, "There's no way that we can win," trap. The middle of the week came and I read some very optimistic posts. I began to believe and to understand what the term, "Any Given Sunday," meant. Our team has made great strides this year. Although we aren't a well-oiled machine yet, our future is very bright.

This is the turning stone game. It's not very often that there is a general concensus on who the best team in the NFL is. As of Week 8 in the 2007 season, it is the New England Patriots. This week, we have a phenomenal opportunity to play the best team in football. A team that some say is the best that has been seen in years. Let's go out there tomorrow, and make every player that is wearing blue taste their own blood and feel the pain inflicted by the Washington Redskins.

HAIL.
