I'll be at Thursday night's game. I gotta admit, though, tonight's match scares me to death! :ahhhhh:

So...D.C lost the first game 1-0. They have to win by 2 in the next game to advance.

I had a bad feeling going into the game. They'd better be awake and ready to go next week. Very frustrating to watch.

Given a week of rest, Emilo and Jaime should be ready to go. MLS cup is at home this year. It should give them a boost. They were winning time of possession last night. They just have to get more shots off on target to keep keep Pickens under pressure.

Let's hope you're right, BH! We need to come out strong and get them on their heels early.

1-0 loss or 1-1 tie was what I predicted.
They should be fine next week.

They'd better be. I'll be watching from my seats at RFK!

Any besides me hate the aggregate? I know they want to follow the European model, but when you win your division, you should get some kind of advantage and going on the road for the first game is not an advantage. I'd rather a 2 out of 3 like it used to be.

You know, you make a good point. I didn't even know the aggregate format existed until Dave Johnson himself told me about the European model. You'd think that finishing first in your conference would make you worthy of some type of reward.

Dumb mistake by the backline on that second goal.
Is there an away goal rule in MLS?

If DC were to score 3, would the game go to extra time or would the Fire win because they scored 2 goals away?

3 to tie. 4 to win.
No way either happens. :(
Damn it I wanted to re-live 1997 all over again too

I have seen it happen before. If this team has any heart what so ever, they'll atleast look like they are trying..

What I meant is that I have seen a soccer match (a final of a cup) where a team has come back from a 3x0 scoreline to win by 4x3.
But yeah, DC hasn't shown any signs of changing the scoreline..

Very bitter end to the season. I'll post pics later. But, on an up note, I got a chance to meet Julie Foudy after the game. Too bad Heather Mitts wasn't there. But, yeah, I was NOT prepared for this. I thought DC either would dominate or at least force overtim. No way I thought Chicago was just going to come in here and romp.

Told you the aggregate sucks. If they are going to do that, then they should randomly seed the teams. How can MLS allow the #1 seed to be beat again? They need to change it.

If they keep the aggregate, than the higher seeded team should host both games. The way its structured now, the higer seed doesn't earn an advantage, other than playing a lower seeded team. When you draw a hot team like the Fire, however, there isn't an advantage.

With the team left the MLS Cup may not have 10000 people there.

I still can't believe DC lost that series. Anyway, here are my pics. I was able to meet soccer legend Julie Foudy after the game!

Yeah, I was ready to jump over the boards and punch that guy in the face! You should have heard all the vile stuff the Barra Brava and Screaming Eagles supporters were saying to him.
