View Full Version : Our DB's and LB's have to maul those skinny Pats WRs

Those Patriots WR's have had it very, very easy these past few weeks, that's nothing new.
But one thing that's important in winning this game and slowing down that New England offense is that even if they do catch the ball, they have to be hit and hit hard.
They may be fast, they may be shifty, they may be good route runners, but they are not physical. They aren't. Anquan Boldin, now that guy was physical with us. On the 1st TD drive the Cardinals had, the 3rd down play before he caught the TD, when they just throw a little flat pass to him and he tried bowling over Springs.
The Pats guys are nothing like that. We have to treat them the way that the Patriots of 2001 treated the Rams. Get in their head and make them pay for every catch, disrupt their timing. I think Welker especially, we can make him pay for all those little underneath crossing routes. I think London or Rocky can blast him.
Bottom line, as much as I hope we can get a few interceptions and pass deflections, Brady will still complete some throws.
We have to be as vicious as possible when they catch it. I'm not saying sacrifice a tackle to make a big hit.
I'm talking body slams.

We need to invoke the fear of God into their WR core. I do not expect anything less than our secondary hitting the Pats WRs like they've never been hit all year.
We will wear them out.

Sean Taylor needs to take Moss head off to set a example to the Patriot's and there Receiver's if you go up to catch something you are going to get smashed...................

Randy Moss has already proven he wants no part of Sean Taylor

What we need to do to them , would put our DB,LB in jail for assault.

I hope it is a nice hard hitting game.

I think Landry needs to say "Hi" to Tom Brady early in the game too.

I'd like to see ST rip off moss' head and break welkers ribs

I believe that this is the most important key to the game, i don't think it's possible to really pressure Brady and rattle him and he's very capable of taking advantage of a blitzing team. It's important to punish the hell out of his targets, get them to not want to catch the ball for fear of what's gonna happen if they do.

You guys read my mind.
I told my boy that ST is the X Factor for this game.
If we could lay some wood to the pats WR's early. It would be huge for the D as the game goes home.

I would love to see ST and/or Landry lay out Moss to send him a message, nothing illegal or dirty but just to get in his head.

You have to get in there recievers face and knock them off there routes. Remember what the Pats did to Indy years ago where they would knock there recievers at the LOS to allow there front 4 to apply pressure and collapse the pocket.
I have a feeling the Skins arent going to blitz a whole lot this week. The last few games we've played against pass happy teams have showed that we will rush you with our front 4. Now saying this this week is a different beast we are facing this week in New England. If we can get New England off there time and not all Brady to have all day i think our secondary can do a good job in coverage down the field.
I do have somewhat of an odd feeling that NE will decide to run that ball a bit more this week like they did against Cincy on Monday night a few weeks back.

Totally with you on that. Set the frickin tone baby!
I'm tired of seeing the same shot of Brady throwing rainbows to Moss against the Dolphins and Jets. That's ridiculous. I can't name one guy on their secondaries worth a damn.
And then those little crosses to Welker drive me nuts. I hope that a physical tone actually gets the Patriots to alter their playcalls...
Let's remember. Pats have no real running game. Maroney has only been healthy for a week, no Sammy Morris..Kevin Faulk? Please.

Our cornerbacks have to get in there faces from the get go (no friggin 5 yard cushion) beat the crap out of them for the 5 yards we are allowed. It will intimidate them, frustrate them, and screw uo brady's timing with them

Yep. Moss has a bullseye on him and he knows it. Moss will likely have his worst game of the year with ST hunting him down. I do not wish injury on anyone, but I wouldn't complain if Moss is knocked out cold, only to fully recover AFTER the game. Sames goes with Brady. Please lay out Brady, Mr. Landry. :)

They haven't played a secondary as talented as ours all season, hopefully we can show them a thing or two...

I agree. I think our game plan will be very similar to the one we had against the Packers.

I agree with everyone here. We need to make this the modern day version of the "body bag" game, only for the Patriots. Now, I am not saying hit with intent of ruining a guys career, but hurt'em. Like so many others have said, add another step in their thought process; i.e. prepare to get crushed once the ball is snapped.
The beatings need to occur as soon as the ball is snapped and throughout each play. If the Patriots win this game, they need to be crawling off the field as winners because I really see us playing the game with no disregard for human life.
Also, this needs to be a team beating, not just from our defense. I know our offense, specifically our line, is a banged up right now, but we need to play offense like we play defense: abusively. Outside their defensive line, they only 3 players that concern me: Adalius Thomas, Asante Samuel, and Rodney Harrison, and Harrison is starting to show his age. If we can get our RBs past their front 4 with a blocker, we can starting beating on their 2nd and 3rd level guys.
I know this all sounds good, but if we want to win this game, we need to walk onto theie field with the mindset of "no one comes out alive" or we are going to struggle.

Personally I want to see Laron get a good ribcage shot in on Moss or Brady.

We definitely have to play physical. Seau and Bruschi are getting old. We need to pound them. My concern is will our O-Line be able allow us to get a pound the run game going?

I liked to see Sellers get the ball more and not just up the middle. Run him a little off-tackle and counter plays. Specially run him at there DEs and outside LBs.

A few runs from Mike early in the game could really set the physical tone on offense. Anytime LB or CP are running the ball I want Mike lead blocking. Their D needs to know that if they want to make the tackle they're going to get hit in the mouth.

Taylor and Landry are NOT the key to the defense. Springs, Smoot and Rogers are the key. Press coverage like we did against Philly. Moss and Stallworth are not physical receivers and will tend to get frustrated. Welker is a little fire plug and will keep getting up a la Rudy and he'll be the tough one to stop at the LOS. Hit Moss and Stallworth off the line and pound Welker past the LOS. If you let Moss or Stallworth get separation off the line, it's all over. Even Taylor and Landry won't keep Brady from picking apart the seams. I wouldn't say don't blitz, but disguise the blitzes. If Brady knows where it's coming from, he'll go to that spot. Mixed up the coverages and don't sit in a cover 2 all day.
