5-3 and not pretty,but it's better than last year!

I have to admit and say that I didn't know what to expect from this team today after the beatdown we took last week.I realize we still have numerous questions about what this team is about and made of...

What I do know is that we won a very important game as far as the team's mentality and confidence to go along with our 5-3 record.

Is our offense lighting it up?No

But today was joe gibbs football as far as the running game is concerned and if your going to have any chance at winning playoff games,you have to be able to run the football!

We went 5-11 last year and have already matched those wins for the season...(5-3)We could easily be 7-1 as easy as we could be 1-7 (Lions game) right now!

As cliche as it may be...But if this team just fights their guts out,then maybe we will find ourselves with a chance to make the playoffs and/or win the Division....

Think about this for a second...

Dallas=6-1
Giants=6-2
Redskins=5-3
Eagles=3-4

This could be the NFC East by the end of next weekend if Dallas loses tonight!

Giants=7-2 (beating the Cowboys) next Sunday (3-1 Division record)
Redskins=6-3 (beating the Eagles) next Sunday (2-1 Division record)
Dallas=6-3 (losing to philly tonight,Giants next Sunday w/1-2 Division record)
and Dallas still would have the Redskins twice and the Eagles again...As well as the Packers and Lions!
Eagles=4-5 (beating Dallas and losing to skins)1-3 in the Division


But even if the Cowboys win tonight,we are still just 2 games back with having not even playing them yet....and the Eagles with a 3-5 record...If we beat them,then their 3-6 record all but ends their seasonIMO!

Personally....I think we can still win the Division!I don't care how we win as long as we do just that...WIN! :cheers:

looks like Dallas is going to win tonight, but i still think we match up well with them this year. Lots of football left. If Gibbs gives Portis 30 carries a game, i LOVE our chances. :)

I think everyones point who is down on the Skins is that after the games, we just arent left feeling like we are clicking on offense. All these games are coming down to the wire. Sure we win but against a good team, we get smoked. Point is, you want to be able to hang with the big boys if you expect to go somewhere. Theres no trophy for making the wild-card and losing in the first round.

JC is the only thing thats not making teams play 8 man in the box this year.. If we had Jansen and Thomas, i bet this offense would be working on all cylinders so far

While JC has had his share of overthrows and missed passes, he also has one of the strongest arms in the league that's able to strecth the defense. It's also the fault of the playcalling. Just think about it, we send our recievers out down the field and if they arn't open, we go underneath to cooley, portis, sellers, etc. That's guaranteed five yards or so there. That's what teams are doing to us, and it's working. But sending our receivers out on 7 yard slants is not helping to get 8 men out of the box.

In the past we would have lost the NYJETS game, ARI game, MIA game. We really would lose all these close games. The fact is we WON. The Jets ARENT as bad as ppl make out...i know they are 1-7 but they have lost a ton of close games and lost a bunch of games that they led in the 2nd half. Im starting to the think Redskins are the 2006 Jets, a 10-6 team that is solid, may not win pretty but records W's more often than L's.

As much as i hate seeing Dalls win it is AWESOME to see Philly getting embarrased on National TV. What a joke that team is.

We were really looking like losers today, especially considering we outscored the Jets 20-3 after we got behind. Losers always come back for a victory. Good call.

maybe, maybe not! its a poor excuse anyway! We have too much talent to be at this point! Yes we are at 5-3, but does it feel like we have a good playing team? Not really! Look at what has defense done in first 6 games and what has done in last two? Are we loosing our defense? I hope not cause thats what has saved us! I really hope that this team fires up for the rest of 8 games and brings us somewhere.
