A new planet discovery around the star 55 Cancri, about 41 light years away, means that system has at least five planets. It shows that star systems like our own with multiple planets are not uncommon.
The total of extrasolar planets is now up to 263.
Based on the strength of the star and the dstance of the planet from it, this newly discovered planet is in the habitable temperature zone too, i.e. where water is liquid.
The planet itself is large and unlikely to be able support life (as we know it :)), but chances are one of its smaller moons (if it has them, but all large planets in our system do) could.
