Does anyone know if Comcast is going to update its HD channels anytime soon. I would love to see some more channels offered, I know DirecTV is updating its channels and hope Comcast is going to follow suit.

Leave cable and join the Directv Nation. You won't be disappointed. Directv has added a ton of HD channels with a lot more supposed to be added by the end of the year.

As of right now no. However, they did just add some lame ones like HGTV HD, FOOD HD, TBS HD. There is some speculation they may add UPN and FOX Sports HD Lame again (because you have to pay extra for the sports package).

Food Network HD? What the hell is the value of seeing fatasses baking cakes in any more detail than we do now?

HGTV HD? Seriously?

When we first got Comcast HD I was pretty psyched, but now I'm getting really tired of flipping up to channel 4,823 just to start browsing ten paltry HD channels.

If Comcast doesn't get their act together, I'm jumping ship in the very near future.

I'm in the same boat. I will take a hard look at FIOS, but I have to wait until the comcast contract is up a year from now. But yea this is pretty pathetic programming HGTV HD and FOOD HD are bascially the same, and TBS is part of the turner network so theres no variety. Plus most of the HD channels comcast has added are the cheapest ones for comcast to add. I can't get satellite, because my house is surrounded by giant trees and would require thousands to cut the limbs down.

Don't know if your cable has this mode but in satellite you can choose different guides and one of them is all HD channels only so no scrolling through non-HD channels to get to the HD.

I'm on Comcast. They are very slowly updating channels. I would never go to DirecTV, but if FIOS came to the neighborhood, I might be swayed...

Now if Verizon could work out the various permits and deals so that people in DC could reap the benefits of FiOs that would be all good. I just recently got the HR20 for Direct TV and I'm enjoying the extra HD channels, even the some of the lame Turner HD stations(Cartoon network HD).

Comcast is up to 22 HD channels now, with NFL HD, A&E HD and MTV HD a few of their recent additions. I just got a flyer in the mail that they're about to add another 10 HD channels, including Sci-FI HD and History HD.

Where I am, NFL HD on Comcast is an additional charge. Don't know if that's true everywhere.

So I don't count it as a regular HD channel, or else I'd add HBO HD, etc.

Yes, that is one of the channels they are adding, according to their flyer. It didn't state a specific date, just that they were coming soon.

Same as in Richmond, VA. The NFL Network is part of a sports package that you have to pay extra for. You get some college sports channels and a few other sports related channels in the package. The NFL Network used to be part of the standard package and people complained that is was moved to the sports package. So, Comcast dropped the package to $1.99/month for the first year you sign up and then it goes back to the regular $4.99/month.

I would, except that where I live I have no choice for Internet other than Comcast. Verizon offers neither FiOS nor DSL where I live, otherwise I'd be off in a heartbeat.

Supposedly we'll have FiOS by end-of-year, but we'll see.

At the Consumer Electronics Show that just finished up last week in Vegas, Comcast announced they were going to offer "1,000 HD choices" by the end of '08. Now, take it for what it's worth as I interpret it as some of the On-Demand movies they'll offer will be in HD thus inflating their numbers.

I'm going to cry if Comcast screws me out of watching this.

WWE.com has posted an interview with WWE’s 12-year veteran set engineer Jason Robinson about the new HD set that will make its debut tonight. Here are some of the highlights:

-- Viewers will notice how vibrant the colors are. They are going with a whole new set that is created entirely out of video. People are used to seeing hard sets with things like mirrors and the fist on SmackDown. They have more than 1.2 million LEDs (light-emitting diodes) that are going to be on the set. In HD, the rich colors that these LEDs produce is going to be amazing.

-- The set itself is all video, so they can change it to be anything we want it to be. It will be a set for all of the WWE brands (Raw, SmackDown, and ECW).

-- When The Undertaker comes out, the HD set will be gravestones and lightning bolts. When Kane comes out, it will be all fire and flame. It’s a complete freedom of palette to create anything we want for the Superstars.

-- For fans in the arena, the set won’t be a stagnant one that just sits there all night. The fans are going to feel more a part of the wrestler’s persona and who they are. They will see and feel the change when different Superstars come out.

-- WWE has been talking about a new set for a couple of years. Once they had a definitive idea of what we wanted to do, it took about three months to go from the planning stage to completion. The technology available to their industry;" HD, lighting, sound and video;" all merged together at the right time for them to put together a great set.
