View Full Version : 4 key players down stretch

#1 Sean Taylor - Our secondary is very average without him and pretty damn solid with him. Was right there for DPY before injured, getting him back is huge obviously.
#2 Randy Thomas - Hes been by far our best offensive lineman the last few seasons and getting him back is gonna be a HUGE addition down the stretch, getting him back dramatically improves our offense.
#3 Santana Moss - We all know the player hes been for us and continues to be but hes probably only at 75% right now. If we can have him at or near 100% when we get the two above mentioned back we can be dangerous.
#4 Marcus Washington - Was gonna be counted on to bring pressure to the QB in a big way this season but has been a shell of his former self because of injuries. Just like Moss, if he can be healthy for the last 5 games our defense will look vastly different.
These are 4 players who are either out at the moment or playing clearly injured and not to their potential..We may have these 4 all healthy at the same time down the stretch and that dramatically changes our team. Merely the fact that we are 5-5 and could easily be 8-2 or even 9-1 this season with the injuries we've had is fortunate I'd say. With Campbell growing in leaps and bounds and the offense being opened up to cater to that, if we can get these 4 guys back and in the flow of things we could not only make the playoffs but win the NFC. Call me a homer but IF we get healthy I don't see us far away from Dallas and GB :2cents:

marcus washington is the guy that gets our defense going despite taylor not playing against dallas we still held em to only 28 points.

I agree with all those but I'd add Keenan McCardell and Clinton Portis. McCardell because you saw against Dallas he can be a realiable underneath receiver and obviousl Portis needs to have big efforts like he did against the Jets.
But who are we kidding the key player is Jason Campbell

Considering that all the guys you mention are out/hurt...it's hard to look at them all as key players for the Skins' stretch run.
Because we are hurting in the secondary - I agree that the offense is going to have to score and that guys like JC, CP, & SM are going to play huge roles.
Besides the Giants - we don't really play any high-powered offenses down the stretch (this is assuming Dallas will be resting a lot of players in the finale).
So hopefully guys like Fabini & Doughty (oh God...) can hold down the fort until Taylor & Thomas return (mid Dec?).
Keenan McCardell, Chris Cooley and Andre Carter are my picks for guys who could have big impacts in the last 6.

Taylor is, easily, the most important of all of those.
Not to knock the other three, but we've won without Thomas, we've won without Moss showing up, and we've won without Washington.
We haven't won without Taylor.

I would add CP to the list. Our running game has to avg. 100 yds a game.

If we do not win this weekend it will be mute. We need a "W" on Sunday and hopefully we will have Taylor and Thomas back against the Bills.

It really depends on what offense we run. If we keep on running the same O as the Dallas game, we don't need 100 yards rushing.

1.Jason Campbell
2.Clinton Portis
3.The O-line as a whole
4.Sean Taylor
5.The D-line as a whole
If we do not win this weekend it will be mute.

I'd definitely throw in JC and his need to continue to grow over the next 6 weeks. I think if we get in, and JC is lights out like he was in Dallas, people will start calling him a top 10 QB.....maybe higher. The potential is there, I can see it!!!!
Also, maybe this friend from the past helps him out a bit too. I see Mix having some serious pt in the coming weeks.

Do people actually read the OP or no? :whoknows: He CLEARLY stated that those four players have been/are playing HURT this year. Of course JC is an important player but I think the OP meant to point out the players that haven't been 100% healthy this season that we need to be successful down the stretch. Then again, I could be wrong. :D

I think who's better between Randy Thomas and Chris Samuels is up for debate.

I don't think you can put a list together like this and not include JC. We need to see the JC of the last two weeks for the rest of the season, and that includes the Coaches letting him continue to be this QB

PULL OVER!!! THIS IS THE SPELLING POLICE!!!
I would normally have to cite you for misuse/spelling of the word moot. But I will let you off with a warning this time. Fasten your seatbelt. Have a safe and happy holday. Dont drink and drive.
Moot - to reduce or remove the practical significance of; make purely theoretical or academic.
Mute - 1.silent; refraining from speech or utterance. 2.not emitting or having sound of any kind. 3.incapable of speech; dumb.
Thats is all. Move along. nothing to see here.

I have a friend who says "mute" all the time to joke on it. Paul Reiser did that in that stupid show "Mad about You" before. So now I think nothing of seeing it like this - knowing it's incorrect and assuming the person writing is just joking.

Most important player on O? Campbell.
Most important player on D? EASILY Taylor. With Taylor we would've won the last two games. Without him, we lost both. No way does B.O. get 4TDs(especially after ST would've layed a couple of good licks on him...just a reminder of who's ***** he is). Dallas didn't beat us. T.O. beat us. With ST in the game, the T.O. factor is neutralized.

I dont think I agree. GW is losing his touch. The way he has been playing his defense I think we would be top ten but not top five.

Just stay healthy and get players back will be the key as well as good game planning from the coaches.

We need to win outright to make playoffs...
You mentioned players with injuries that need to be 100% for us to compete... you are correct sir...

Most of it has to do with the fact that we rely on the front 4 for pressure much of the time, we need another pass-rushing DE to complement Carter and you'll see the defense get A LOT better.
Our secondary is very good but if the QB has all day to pass it doesn't matter.:2cents:
