Whats up Skins Fans?

One of the things that surprised me on Sunday, against a defense like Dallas's, was how we were passing all over the field. With Lloyd out (not that he made a difference), McCardell seemed to have stepped up a lot. I personally think that after this season we're gonna release Lloyd, for the lack of productivity and not showing up at practice a month ago.

I guess three heart-breaking losses to New York, Philly, and Green Bay was what it took for Joe Gibbs to realize that Campbell was ready to be unleashed. Damn, he tore Dallas's defense apart (with the exception of the last drive). And after Philly's loss, when we ran on a 3rd and Goal which could've locked the game up if we had scored, Coach really took the blame for it.

Yes, we lost last week, but for some reason I was able to get over it by Tuesday morning. It was just so rediculous though to go to school and hear "Dallas tore the Skins apart!", "Skins got raped!", "Campbell didn't do $hit".

Okay, first of all, Campbell did do "$hit". 348 yards through the air against your over-rated defense was no fluke. If you say Campbell played like $hit, then you're clearly out of your mind and can't accept the fact that he had more yards than Romo and you're just trying to hide your shame that the Skins were actually about 15 yards away from winning that game.

The game at Dallas last week totally reminded me of the game we played against Tampa Bay in 2005, which resulted in a 35-36 loss. That game somehow fired our team up as we kept on playing with a "5 in a row, or you don't go!" attitude. We need to do that again. As we all know, that game ended with a questionable loss that made it that much better because we paid them back later in the playoffs. Now how amazing would it be to go to Dallas (i'm assuming they're going to have homefield advantage?) in the playoffs, and come out of there with a win? My apologies for thinking ahead

Honestly, I think the remainder of our schedule is fairly tough. We should be able to beat Tampa, Minnesota, and Chicago, but I swear you never know the Bills these days. Even though they lost 56-10 against NE, don't forget they almost spoiled a monday nighter for Dallas. I still think after the way we played against the Cowboys, we can manage to beat NY and again them at home on 12/30. Hopefully by then we'll have Randy Thomas and Sean Taylor back there too.

Our main competitors for Wildcard Spot: Detroit (6-4), Philly (5-5), Arizona (5-5).

Detroit's Remaining Schedule:

VS. GREEN BAY PREDICTION: L
@ MINNESOTA PREDICTION: W
VS. DALLAS PREDICTION: L
@ SAN DIEGO PREDICTION: L
VS. KANSAS CITY PREDICTION: W
@ GREEN BAY PREDICTION: W

FINISH: 9-7

Philadelphia's Remaining Schedule:

@ NEW ENGLAND PREDICTION: L
VS. SEATTLE PREDICTION: L
VS. NYG PREDICTION: L
@ DALLAS PREDICTION: L
@ NEW ORLEANS PREDICTION: W
VS. BILLS PREDICTION: W

FINISH: 7-9

Arizona's Remaining Schedule:

vs. SAN FRANCISCO PREDICTION: W
VS. CLEVELAND PREDICTION: L
@ SEATTLE PREDICTION: L
@ NEW ORLEANS PREDICTION: W
VS. ATLANTA PREDICTION: W
VS. ST.LOUIS PREDICTION: W

FINISH: 9-7

Our Advantages: Even if we finish in a tie with Arizona and Detroit, we're going to get the 6th seed because we've defeated both teams.

What we need to do is win all of our games. Yes, all of them. The reason I say this is because if we finish 11-5, we'll go to the playoffs without a doubt. If we lose atleast one down the road, we'll still probably make it but we'll be under some pressure at the same time.

My final take: So far, we've played a fair season. We definitely could've been sitting at a better position with a better record, but dwelling on losses isn't gonna help us get anywhere. And it's not just losses either, it's been injuries. Personally I think we would've definitely won in Dallas if we had Sean Taylor, but oh well.

Hopefully the Skins will keep their heads up. Come on, we've done it before, and we can certainly do it again!

Here's to going 6-0 and the playoffs!

yeah last weeks loss was easier on everybody
we didnt blow a lead against a inferior team, we played well and almost beat the best team in the NFC, on top of the fact that it was the cowboys

Yeah, totally. I still have a lot of faith in our team. Maybe its because of how we played last week. We would've been in the spotlight though if we won that game. I guess it's good we if just play under the radar :)

Well I don't blame him for the Eagles loss. We totally blew that game ourselves...

My opinion is that we could easily be 9-1 right now. On the flipside we can also be 6-4 because the Miami game, the Arizona game, and the Jets game could have easily ended up in the loss column along with the Patriots game. So to tell the truth, we are one win better than our true record, despite the fact that we could have beaten the Giants, the Cowboys, and the Eagles both times along with the Packers respectively.

We could be kicking ass right now, but thanks to injuries and questionable coaching, we're not.

That's about it. :(

Reggie Brown doesn't get that pass.
Westbrook doesn't run down the field like that.

All of those would be true, HAD Sean Taylor been in teh game.

I was very optimistic after that loss.

We have been losing games based LARGELY on poor coaching and poor coaching decisions on JG's part.

JG was pretty flawless in his coaching decisions. He just needs to keep it up and make sure our defense stays honest (instead of doing whatever it is they decided to do in DAL). He needs to start trusting JC more and putting the game in his hands more. If JG comes back this week with the horizontal passing game and the run the ball mentality, I'll be pretty disappointed.

I just have 2 answers: We are already in salary cap purgatory, releasing Lloyd would send up to salary cap hell. In your predictions I think Arizona will not beat New Orleans.

My thoughts of the Skins this season ... underachievers!

It just doesn't make any sense to be sitting at 5-5 with the players we have! And no, it's not just the play calling. All the players we have are known around the league, or atleast heard of.

We're not any Houston Texans team which has one or two players that people are familiar with.

I don't get it at all ...

Guys, I guess I'm one of the mindless homers folks here complain about. My thoughts on the year are pretty positive. Without getting long-winded, I'll simply say that anything better than 8-8 & I'm happy. As crazy as that sounds, I say that because I'm focused on this team's development for the future.
Consider this; as bad as Washington's played, the team is at .500 & could very reasonably qualify for the playoffs this year. Hell, an INCONSISTENT Skins team has given dallas, green bay, new york, & philly some serious fits--all this year. And we all know those teams are some of the TOP contenders in the conference. And we haven't played consistenly well for 4 full quarters (outside of detroit) all year. And we've done all that with a young guy taking snaps. Imagine what a more experienced QB with a full season's experience under his belt will do, given the talent at his disposal? This team's growing fangs before our very eyes.

I think we'd be king of the hill in the NFC right now...but some coaching errors and injuries are keeping us in the middle of the heap. Still, I'm rather optimistic and I think we'll be able to hold our heads up high by season's end.

Yeah if we don't make the playoffs, that's another positive thing we'll get out of this season.

If Campbell plays like he has in recent games next year, and Gibbs keeps him off the leash, I think we have ourselves a pretty beast team.

"Win all games."

You can't pay for this kind of analysis, folks.

Our lines are going to average 32 years of age next year.

If, if, if. We are what our record says we are. For every "we nearly won" this game, there is a "we nearly lost" this game.

People say, we would have a better record if we didn't have a coach who kept Campbell under his thumb. A better record if we didn't have injuries. A better record if we got this break or that break.

Well, we don't have a better record because, guess what? We have coaches who are conservative and won't go for many 4th and 1's. They aren't going to be a wide open kind of coaching staff. We have coaches that won't adjust to TO when he's killing us.

We also have a team that always has injury issues. We have a boat-load every year. We said the same thing last year. It isn't that we're cursed. It's that injuries happen in the NFL and our coaches and trainers aren't very good at getting this team to avoid them.

We have a team that isn't winning the close one's. We're getting outcoached, outfoxed, or whatever you want to call it.

All of this is going to remain the same until changes are made.

Look, I understand why a lot of people were heartened by playing Dallas close. However, we have to remember that in a Dallas Washington game anything can and does happen. Remember last year? They were on a roll with Romo and we played them in Washington (hand of God game) and actually won. We went on to lose 6 of our last 8 games.

Heck, we even beat a red hot New Orleans club down the stretch last year. We still lost 6 of our last 8. A lot of those losses were very close.

We all pointed to beating Dallas and New Orleans as proving how close we were. Many said "if this would have happened, we would have won that game". Then we had the whole offseason to train Campbell and to get Fletcher, Smoot, etc. and we started playing games and are still having the injuries, close, embarassing losses, and are still punting or kicking field goals on 4th and inches.

We beat Dallas down the stretch last year and we beat New Orleans down the stretch last year... and we're supposed to think playing Dallas close and losing to them is a better omen this season?

I'm sorry, but I just see more of the same. We've lost 3 of our last 4 and are headed in the wrong direction.

Look at our last 6 games.

L- Green Bay - a loss in a big game.
W - Arizona - Barely won at FedEx as they missed a last second FG.
L - New England - We all know how embarassing this loss was.
W - Jets - Took them into OT and nearly lost to one of the worst teams in the NFL.
L - Philly - Collapsed down the stretch and lost to a bad Philly team at FedEx
L - Dallas - Went there and made it decently close but still lost.

That's 2 of our last 6.

Yet, simply because we played our bitterest rival close (which we always do) we're supposed to be encouraged about our chances?

I'm sorry. I wish I could feel the same way but I don't.

I see us barely winning at home against Miami in OT, and against Arizona, plus I see us barely winning against the Jets and I lose hope. I see us winning against a terrible Philly team early and a greatly overrated Detroit team at FedEx and I lose hope.

Those wins are each and every one against bad teams, and most of the are still barely wins. Philly and the Jets were at their house, but they're awful and Philly still came to FedEx and whupped us.

I suppose we'll see if you are right to feel hopeful or if I'm right to not. Maybe we will come together down the stretch. It will pleasantly surprise me if we do, though.

you know...I have come full circle on this.

I'm tired of the folks who pile on after the whistle has blown. we have a few randomly strung facts or generalizations that fall at such a high level as to be analytically useless when it comes to predicting the future. why bother?

beat the wall. beat your wife. or just beat off/it! whatever distracts you and empties the bile jar. enough with the unrelenting, generally uninteresting whining already!
