I was talking to a friend today and she was saying that there are these tours called "Poverty Tours" which allows people to get into groups, with a guide, and visit places ridden and completely overwhelmed by poverty. My question is, do you agree with this?
On one hand, this gives people the opportunity to increase their awareness of one of the most horrific problems in this world, reminding us that we always should be grateful for what we have.
On the other hand, it can be considered an invasion of the privacy of those struggling. I get this image of people walking around with sunglasses, cameras, and a fannie pack, staring in awe.
Which one is a better explanation of what these tours are all about? What do you think?
