View Full Version : Moving on to the Bills game at FedEx (merged)

This Sunday's game at FedEx will no doubt be an emotional one. It is essentially the funeral for #21 held by the fans. However, I don't think it should be a traditional funeral...
Some of you may not want to think of this right now, but I believe it's in our best interests as Redskins fans to rock the house on 12/2. We will have a few days for the shock to wear off, but come this Sunday, the grills will be heating up, the beer will be flowing, and with nearly 100,000 emotional football fans, there is no reason why FedEx shouldn't be a madhouse for our game against Buffalo.
ST loved the Redskins and the fans. This is the best time for us to show the love back, and to also show why we're the greatest fans in the world.

The game should be a tribute. It should be emotional. We should chant for Sean and support the players as they are suffering more than any of us fans. They will play in honor of Sean and we will need to have their backs. This should not be a drunk fest or an excuse for people to be ridiculous. It should be straight from the heart(not the alcohol) cheering and support.

I agree. The best way we fans can honor Taylor is by going absolutely ape-**** at the game on Sunday.

I would like to get almost a college like chant going through the game....
twen - ty........ ONE !!!!
twen - ty........ ONE !!!!
twen - ty........ ONE !!!!
Emphasizing the "ONE" to show our unison with the team...
I want to make sure Sean can hear us clear up to Heaven !!!!

i really hope the stadium is packed, and we lay the biggest beatdown on the lowly buffalo bills. theyre starting trent edwards again, and i really hope that every player has some sort of jarring hit at least once, as a tribute to how hard taylor would have hit everybody.
heres to the ghost of sean taylor patroling fedex field on sunday.

I feel sorry for the Bills this Sunday, I wouldn't want to cross this team after what has just happened. Sean would have wanted them to go out and give it their all and I'm sure when the time comes, they will.

As hard as it is going to be to feel happy knowing that #21 is in Heaven instead of punishing WRs on the field, I think the fans, but more importantly, the players and his family need us to keep doing what we do - showing our support and showing it strong.
Sean Taylor wouldn't want us or his teammates to mourn for him and let it affect our and their spirits. He would smack us upside the head, tell us to suck it up and do what we do best.
Just like it was comforting to see football being played again after the unimaginable tragedy of 9/11, it will be comforting for his fans to cheer and scream and comforting for his players to take their anger and aggression out on the field.
He died tragically and way too young. And while we'll never get over the loss - we can't let it kill our pride and heart as well. Bullets can take lives away, but they can't defeat the heart and soul of the Redskins community.
I could think of no better way to honor Sean Taylor than to absolutely DOMINATE the Bills on Sunday. I wouldn't want to step out on that field wearing blue on Sunday.
Hail!

I got the last #21 jersey at the Fair Oaks Redskins store this morning. And I looked at the calendar and determined I don't need my voice until about mid-January. So count me IN on Sunday.

I just can't conceive how so many people think that the Skins are going to lay out a thrashing on the Bills because of Sean's death. The Skin's players' hearts are broken. That's a weakness. If Sean somehow survived, I could see them going out their to play with inspiration in order to inspire Sean to receover. But Sean has been taken away from us forever. That's heart-wrenching to me - so imagine how much it hurts for the players. I don't see them acting with vengeance. I see it as a certain weakness. Their emotions are crushed, not to imagine the mental distraction, in a very mental sport. There's a dagger in their hearts and that's not going to translate very well into a violent and agressive sport.

There were people standing at the gate at the Redskins Store at Dulles Town Center and crawling under as the kid opened that gate at 10am. They sold out of jerseys in 15 mins...:) I will be putting my Fletcher jersey away for the season and pulling back out my #36 Taylor jersey...

Keep in mind that your visiting team has seen its share of tragety this season with Kevin Everett who nearly died on the field, was diagnosed to never walk again, and is not making some progress.
You will actually have two tramatized teams on the field that day.
RIP Sean

This is a game, this is a tradition, this is a show, this is a farewell, this is a support group... We need each other, the team needs us. We need to make a statemEnt not only to our team, but to the nation. They need to see exactly how much we miss Sean, how much we support the Redskins and it's long line of brethren. We show up and we tailgate, yes it's going to be somber, but there will be grills burning, beers slugged, whisky chugged, footballs in the air, and smiles. We will walk into OUR stadium in full force burgundy and gold the Sean Taylor chants will begin, the echoes will resonate, the stadium will sway, rock and cry. We will be there, Sean Taylor will be there. This IS our funeral for him, this is our moment to say goodbye, this is our last chance to be loud for him. If you don't have tickets yet, buy them, spend what you must, but this a MUST ATTEND game for Redskins Nation, and the Redskins PLAYERS. If we show up in force and get loud and respect the memory and chant our lungs out, they will respond, shattered hearts or not. We are the life line they need right now, when they walk into that staDium on Sunday.... they are counting on us, so let us count on us... Get your TICKETS, YOUR JERSEYS, YOUR BURGUNDY AND GOLD, YOUR SMILES AND YOUR PRIDE.... FULL FORCE SEND OFF FOR #21... FULL FORCE LIFE LINE FOR THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS..... TO ALL THE SONS OF WASH-ING-TON!

Tiki Barber was extremely close to Wellington Mora. He used that as motivation to run for over 220 yards that Sunday. They will come to play. They will NOT lose Sunday.

I don't expect the Skins to come out and roll over the Bills. In fact, that would just scream to me that the Bills came in expecting to lose, and I wouldn't want that. I don't think the Skins will lose, but it won't be a blowout. The players from both teams will play hard but mentally they might not be there, and that's fine.
I'm just hoping that all fans will come together Sunday and have a great time. It'll be a beautiful sendoff for Sean, no doubt.

I would hate to be a buffalo player this sunday. I think our skins will honor Sean by channeling all of their emotions toward winning this game for Sean and Gibbs will see to it that they do.
There is one thing nobody can question about Gibbs, he knows how to motivate players.

I sure hope this preminition is right, hopefully Portis has 320 yards! This is going to be an emotional game for both teams, the tight end from Buffalo, Taylor with us.

I think the best way for me to cope with this tragedy and the best way for all of us and the team to heal will be to watch the Redskins play the game on sunday. I know i'll break down and cry watching the defense go out there to play and just cry at random times, especially if they win. I want to see how they are going to honor him too. I just can not wait for the game this sunday. I will be touched forever by it and never forget it. RIP ST21

It will be amazing to see. The thought of 90,000 people donning No. 21 jerseys really touched me and made me cry yesterday. My only hope in prayer was that it would have been in support of Sean's recovery and not in remembrance of his death. God had a different plan but I know Sean is in a better place. R.I.P. I just told a friend of mine that all I need is some good ol' football in my system. If I cant manage to get some tickets, it'll be a little strange crying with 90,000 fans all around you. Ha!

my friend said if I was in the area, the extra ticket he has is mine. He got tix a day before this all went down, didn't realize how much different this game is going to be now. I wish I didn't have finals and wasn't far away so I could go.

I was trying to get to this next one last Sunday when my Bucs tickets fell through, now it means that much more. I think I really need to do this to get through it, no one down here in Tampa really cares. When I said I wouldn't be available for a fraternity event this Sunday because I was going to the game, one guy said "why, they suck!" It took an Eagles fan who routinely curses me off to at least say, "he's got tickets, I understand."
Forgive me if I am the only guy there without a Taylor jersey.

We need to get a chant going so loud that Buffalo uses all of it's timouts in the first quarter of each half. Keep in mind, we'll have 13 men on defense now; 11 players, the fans, and ST. I say lets bring him back hitting harder than ever!
Lets rock FedEx, lets cheer so loud we break the noise ordinance in Waldorf, lets put him back out on the field!

I think its going to be very emotional before the game.....there aren't going to be many dry eyes in the house right before kickoff. But I think when either the Bills kicker or Suisham kicks off to start the game, we're going to see a pretty boisterous crowd giving 150 percent to a team that needs us right now.
The discussion on ES, from the updates on the vigils out at the Park and FedEx to just people's thoughts and prayers, has provided greatly needed therapy the past two days.

I just bought my Sean Taylor #21 Burgundy Authentic Jersey w' 75th Anniversary Patch at the Washington Redskins Store in Norfolk, Va. for $300. I am gonna wear #21 proudly as many times as I want to. Although he is no longer with us, Sean Taylor will always be in our hearts and will always be a member of the Washington Redskins. I am sure that he is in a better place right now to watch how the Washington Redskins will bounce back from this tragic loss and prepare themselves in going against the Buffalo Bills at FedExField this coming Sunday. I am sure Sean will be watching the game from up above, cheering for the Redskins. We all will miss Sean as he will never be forgotten.

I hope to see the fans pouring out support for the Redskins and the memory of Sean Taylor, but I also hope that fans won't jump on everyone's back if we lose this game.
There's still a recovery process, and we don't really know how the team will respond in terms of performance until this Sunday and in the weeks going forward.
Hail to the Redskins, but be patient and supporting of the team.

Ah, I know that many of the rabid fans on here are quick to jump on the team's back when they underperform, but I hope our fans are sensible enough to give the team a pass if they actually lose on Sunday. I'll tell you now I'm just happy that I'll be there to see this--it's definitely going to be a memorable experience.
Not expecting a loss for the Skins, though. We've lost enough.
