I find that listening to music can really help get through various times in your life and express emotions. I was wondering if my fellow 'Skins fans could post some songs that may help us cope with this senseless tragedy that we are dealing with today. I'll share a few of songs that I have found helpful in this tearful and difficult day.
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye to Yesterday - Boyz II Men
Who You'd Be Today - Kenny Chesney
The Dance - Garth Brooks
Hail To The Redskins! R.I.P. Sean. We love you.

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

ive been listening to songs i remember them playing at the stadium when sean and marcus, etc. would be dancing between plays.
it pissed some of us off, it made some of us laugh, it made some of us wonder -but it is the best reminder to me of how much fun sean had out there and his presence on the team. im tired of being sad. today was horrible. right now i jus want to remember how ****ing it awesome was having a guy like that wearing B&G

A little dark, but that's how I'm feeling today.
I Didn't Ask To Come by Goodie Mob
God don't care whether you’ve got a spade or not
Aint no turning in your playing hand you was dealt man,
Better tighten up your belt man,
Always go with your first instinct ‘cause,
I don't make the rules
Oooh, you know how it is in these streets
Victims rarely get a chance to think twice
As he laid in his final resting place
He had such a peaceful expression on his face
My vision’s blurry from crying
But it aint hard to see that
At any given time it coulda been me
It's 'bout 90 degrees outside
But yet I feel like I'm froze
The ceremonies come to a close,
I toss a rose,
But just can't seem to walk away yet
Damn, I done effed around and got upset
But there aint nothin' we can do
It's bigger than me and you,
One day our time's coming too
So aint no use in being sad
Leaving here was probably the best gift he ever had
We should be glad
Maybe his life was something that he had to give
To show me that I need to be responsible ‘bout how I live
I won't complain about my pain
But I just aint gone let my n***a die in vain
So Sean I'm gonna make it for you
The cycle that these young black men keep goin' through
I'm gonna break it for you
And start takin’ care of me
And me consists of all my friends and my family
From now on, until I'm gone….
Born into these crooked ways
I never even asked to come so now I'm living in the days
I struggle and fight to stay alive
Hoping that one day I'll earn the chance to die
Pallbearer to this one, pallbearer to that one
Can't seem to get a grip, 'cause, my palms sweatin' ...

WHile I was at work today I was listening to my I-pod and it was the first time I hadn't thought about Sean...then my I-Pod was playing "Layla" by Derek & The Dominos...I was okay until they got to the piano solo at the end...I just started thinking about Sean...the last image I had before I lost it...Him leaping into the end-zone in 2006 against the Eagles...that was the score that iced the game and got us into the playoffs.

That's what I was going to mention.
CrazyZeb's video has turned that song into Sean's theme for me ever since he first made it after Sean's rookie season.
To this day the song all by itself without the video makes me think of Sean Taylor.
That's the song I'm going to use to remember him, I don't want to feel sad when I think of Sean I want to smile and think about the bad ass we all had the privilege to watch play for 4 seasons.

Angels Son - Sevendust
PERFECT SONG.
I was thinking about putting Gone from Sevendust. The lyrics don't really fit, but the chorus is perfect.
When I'm gone
Don't fill the space that still belongs to me
When I'm gone...say hello for me
When I'm gone
Think about what all this does to me
When I'm gone...say hello for me

Simple Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHQ_aTjXObs
Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... Don't live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman and you'll find love,
And don't forget son,
There is someone up above.
[Chorus]
And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Won't you do this for me son,
If you can?
Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
[Chorus]
Boy, don't you worry... you'll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.
[Chorus]

This is not a song, but a poem, one of my favorites.
To an Athlete Dying Young
by A. E. Housman (1859-1936)
The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
To-day, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.
Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields were glory does not stay
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.
Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears:
Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.
So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.
And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's.

Royce Da 5'9'' - Death Is Certain Pt. 2 (It Hurts) Lyrics print version
(feat. Cha Cha, Ingrid Smalls)
[Royce Da 5'9"]
Yeah, my nigga we greater than friends
All we know is the beginnin, nobody controls the way that it ends
I got, the weight of the world on my shoulders
and one phone call can change it - make it fall 'til I'm all caved in
My homie got shot and it's not lookin good for him
No, this is not happenin, knock on wood for him
Speedin to the hospital cryin, askin God, "Why?"
I'm mashin, my car movin as fast as my mind
This is not happenin to me
My homie will not, and I repeat will NOT flatline on me
How can I explain this vividly to your moms
that this is behind entertainment? She won't get it
All she understands is the boy that she raised just might
die in a hospital bed fightin for his life
I'm prayin, standin over you
Lookin at you hooked up to a machine, holdin your hand, sayin
[Chorus: Ingrid Smalls + (Royce)]
Don't you go nowhere.. stay here with me
Cause if you leave meeee.. it hurrrrts so bad
(Death is certainly gon' catch you)
They can take me
(Whoever especially you will be left hurt)
I'll take yo' place
(This is the cold, harshness of life)
(Just when it unfolds you lucky to grow old - life!)
Cause it hurrrrts so bad
[Royce Da 5'9"]
You tearin our team apart
Though time heals all of our wounds it's still leavin a mark
I took it too far; the feelin
that's hidden deep in my heart, comes out, when I look at the scar
And I can't kill, nobody to get you back
Nigga that's somethin that time can't heal
While I'm sayin my grace
I'll be lookin up at the sky, and tellin God that he's makin a mistake
You can't take away one brother and leave the rest of the clique
Lord please, double check yo' list
And if you get to his name and it's a check beside it
Death comes in three's, take me next
.. but don't make me sweat, please
I won't make it, I get restless speculatin
Sons should bury mothers
Every mother don't wanna bury her son, they sayin
[Chorus]
[Interlude: Royce + Cha Cha]
Death is certainly gon' catch you
Whoever especially you will be left hurt
This is the cold, harshness of life
Just when it unfolds you lucky to grow old - life!
[Royce Da 5'9"]
(And) Death is not no option
I'm pullin money outta my pocket tryin to con the doctor
Please, treat this thug the way you would treat yo' baby
The way that you would treat yo' blood, I'll pay!
As heavyweight as we are, I know how you medics are
Cause I be checkin ER everyday
I know we are a hairful - but doc
this ain't one of them that came through shot that shoulda been careful
Cause no dude could bleed; the way his heart pumps
more than any patient that rode through that you seen
The reason that he's my man
Cause I tell him if he can hear me to squeeze my hand and he squeezes
.. so I tell him some things
Don't let them machines help you breathe, don't leave from receivin
'Round quarter to eight - his moms is sleepin
His grip weakens, his squiggly lines go straight (go straight)
Call the doctor, "Give him all you got!
Shock him!" He gon' tell you it's too late
Call the doctor, "Give him all you got!
Shock him!" It's too late
[Chorus]
[Interlude]
[Cha Cha] And death! [echoes]

I don't know how many people here listen to hip hop, but I'm currently listening to One Be Lo- S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M. It is a very somber and reflective album, nothing like the garbage on the radio. If I had to pick one song to listen to, it would be "enecS eht no kcaB". I've also been listening to Miles Davis- Kind of Blue. I'm sure there are better recommendations, but those are just my personal choices.

It's got to be that song "Ooh Aah" by Grits. Someone on Extremeskins made a video of Sean Taylor's many, many big hits (about this time last year) and posted it - I loved it! Those lyrics suited him then and they are a thousand times more suitable to him now.
Any way of knowing how to see that video again? It was a nicepiece of work with a great song.

sometimes a sad song is really what sort of helps me relate to the emotions i'm feeling, sometimes not. all today though, i've been playing It Makes No Difference by The Band, if for nothing else the chorus. it's very powerful and sort of makes me feel assured in a weird way. lyrically it's sad, but it's sort of just all about the general effect of everything.
i miss you, 21.

"I Grieve" by Peter Gabriel. Goes through the pain of grieving, and how to move on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tf7g1gHFMCM&feature=related
I Grieve
it was only one hour ago
it was all so different then
there's nothing yet has really sunk in
looks like it always did
this flesh and bone
it's just the way that you were tied in
now there's no-one home
i grieve for you
you leave me
'so hard to move on
still loving what's gone
they say life carries on
carries on and on and on and on
the news that truly shocks is the empty empty page
while the final rattle rocks its empty empty cage
and i can't handle this
i grieve for you
you leave me
let it out and move on
missing what's gone
they say life carries on
they say life carries on and on and on
life carries on
in the people i meet
in everyone that's out on the street
in all the dogs and cats
in the flies and rats
in the rot and the rust
in the ashes and the dust
life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on
it's just the car that we ride in
a home we reside in
the face that we hide in
the way we are tied in
and life carries on and on and on and on
life carries on and on and on
did I dream this belief?
or did i believe this dream?
now i can find relief
i grieve
I Grieve

"I'll Be Missing You" by P. Diddy fits in perfect, it sounds like it's Portis who is singing it.
Seems like yesterday we used to rock the show
I laced the track, you locked the flow
So far from hangin' on the block for dough
Notorious they got to know that
Life ain't always what it seems to be
Words can't express what you mean to me
Even though you're gone, we're still a team
Through your family, I fulfill your dreams
In the future, can't wait to see
If you open up the gates for me
Reminisce some time, the night they took my friend
Try to black it out, but it plays again
When it's real, feelings hard to conceal
Can't imagine all the pain I feel
I'd give anything to hear half your breath
I know you're living your life -- after death
Every step I take, Every move I make
Every single day, every time I pray -- I'll be missing you
Thinking of the day, when you went away
What a life to take, what a bond to break -- I'll be missing you
It's kinda hard with you not around
Know you in heaven smiling down
Watching us while we pray for you
Every day we pray for you
Til the day we meet again
In my heart is where I'll keep you friend
Memories give me the strength I need to proceed
The strength I need to believe
My thoughts BIG I just can't define
Wish I could turn back the hands of time
Us in the 6th, shopping for new clothes and kicks
You and me taking flicks, making hits
Stages they received you on
I still can't believe you're gone
I'd give anything to hear half your breath
I know your living you life -- after death
Somebody tell me why, on that morning
when this life is over
I know -- I'll see your face
Every night I pray, every step I take
Every move I make, every single day
Every move I make
It's seriously strange how you can tie in the two stories with lines like "makin' hits" and "even though you're gone, we're still a team"

Frank Sinatra - My Way
And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, Ill say it clear,
Ill state my case, of which Im certain.
Ive lived a life thats full.
Ive traveled each and evry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, Ive had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, Im sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
Ive loved, Ive laughed and cried.
Ive had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

This lyrics seem to say it all:
I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.
If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Ooh-oo child, things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child, things'll get brighter
Ooh-oo child, things are gonna get easier
Ooh-oo child, things'll be brighter
Some day, yeah
We'll put it together and we'll get it all done
Some day
When your head is much lighter
Some day, yeah
We'll walk in the rays of a beautiful sun
Some day

Hendrix's Castles Made of Sand. Not all the lyrics fit perfectly, but the second verse as well as the chorus fit extremely well:
A little indian brave who before he was ten,
Played wargames in the woods with his indian friends
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior indian cheif
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first warsong and fight his first battle
But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night
And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually
The whole mood and theme of the song seems to work, though. This verse hit home, from the Indian Brave (Redskin), playing wargames with his indian friends (playing football at the U with CP, the ties to Santana Moss, too, working out at the U in the summer) to the following of a dream to the NFL, to the battle of a football game, the fearless warrior way he played, the warsong hail to the Redskins, the surprise attack that practically killed him in his sleep....

"Explosions in the Sky - Have You Passed Through This Night?" has been playing through my head since last night for some reason
This great evil - where's it come from?
How'd it steal into the world?
What seed, what root did it grow from?
Who's doing this?
Who's killing us, robbing us of life and light, mocking us with the sight of what we mighta known?
Does our ruin benefit the earth, aid the grass to grow and the sun to shine?
Is this darkness in you, too?
Have you passed through this night?

Deff Shine on you Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd
Parts I-V:
Remember when you were young,
You shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes,
Like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire
Of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon,
You cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night,
And exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome
With random percision,
Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
Come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Parts VI-IX:
Nobody knows where you are,
How near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers
And I'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow
Of yesterday's triumph,
And sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you boy child,
You winner and loser,
Come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!
Very Appropriate i think

All we are By: One Republic
I know its a love song, but here are a few lines that stick out to me.
I tried to paint you a picture, the colors we're all wrong
Black and white didn't fit you, and all along
You we're shaded with patience, and strokes of everything
That I need just to make it, and I can see that...
Lord knows I've failed you, time and again
But you and me are all right
We won't say our goodbye's, you know it's better that way,
We won't break, we won't die, it's just a moment of change
All we are, all we are is everything that's right
All we need, all we need, a lover's alibi
I walked a minute in your shoes, they never would have fit
I figured there's nothin to lose, I need to get
Some perspective on these words, before I write them down
You're an island and my ship has run aground
[ All We Are lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]
Lord knows I'll fail you time and again,
But you and me we're alright
We won't say our goodbye's, you know it's better that way,
We won't break, we won't die, it's just a moment of change
All we are, all we are is everything that's right
All we need, all we need, a lover's alibi
And every single day that I can breathe,
You change my philosophy,
I'm never gonna let you pass me by
So don't say our goodbye's, you know it's better that way,
We won't break, we won't die, it's just a moment of change
All we are, all we are is everything that's right
All we need, all we need, a lover's alibi
All we need, all we need, a lover's alibi

did you forget I Am mine Pearl jam (it's ok it was my cry song for 21)
The selfish, they’re all standing in line
Faithing and hoping to buy themselves time
Me, I figure as each breath goes by
I only own my mind
The north is to south what the clock is to time
There's east and there's west and there's everywhere life
I know I was born and I know that I'll die
The in between is mine
I am mine
And the feeling, it gets left behind
All the innocence lost at one time
Significant, behind the eyes
There's no need to hide,....
We're safe tonight
The ocean is full cause everyone's crying
The full moon is looking for friends at high tide
The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow's denied
I only know my mind
I am mine
And the meaning, it gets left behind
All the innocents lost at one time
Significant, behind the eyes
There's no need to hide,....
We're safe tonight
And the feelings that get left behind
All the innocence broken with lies
Significance, between the lines
We may need to hide
And the meanings that get left behind
All the innocents lost at one time
We're all different behind the eyes
There's no need to hid
thanks for pearl jam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know about you guys, but listen to the Gladiator theme behind some Sean Taylor highlights. Redskins.com uses it, but only one minute's worth. Download the gladiator theme and listen to the whole thing while watching Taylor highlights, and its the most gut-wrenching you'll ever go through.

Ribbon in the Sky - Stevie Wonder (part of the lyrics go....Where there's a Ribbon in the sky for our love)
Hero - By Mariah Carey
Either one of those would be awesome to put to some of Taylor's highlights to show at the game Sunday...But both of those would cause some serious tears.
One other song - This is the Moment - Jekyll/Hyde

Frank Sinatra - My Way
And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, Ill say it clear,
Ill state my case, of which Im certain.
Ive lived a life thats full.
Ive traveled each and evry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Regrets, Ive had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, Im sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.
Ive loved, Ive laughed and cried.
Ive had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
