I can't imagine the players, coaches wanting to even think about football right now. Alas, not only do they have to play Sunday against the Bills but next week is a short week. We play the Bears next Thursday. Considering the funeral for Sean will mostly like be Mon/Tue/Wed; I can't see how they can expect the Skins to play so close to the funeral. Everyone is in shock and I think it will even be worse at the funeral. That's when it will hit everyone. Their fellow teamate won't be back.
I think the nfl should move the game to saturday. If it costs money; so what. I'm sure Synder will pick up any costs of delaying the game and think the Bears would comply.
This isn't about winning or losing. I just don't think a game should be played so soon after the funeral. Push it back a couple days; to give people more time.

THis was stated earlier....but i agree. It's a lot to ask a team to have to do what the redskins have to do the next two weeks. But i really don;t care. If i see them lose 50-0 the rest of the way i won;t care. I jsut wanna see the redskins and I just want to see all the other players ok. I really just wanna see everyone overcome this. But football players do have a wierd knack for riding emotional waves and if they do i won;t have a problem with it...but times like these jsut makes stupid things such as playoffs seem so trivial.

I agree and I would hope the Bears would respect that too

Good thought but I think there are just too many logistical problems for the NFL to allow it, and I believe the NFL has the final say.

I wouldn't mind the move, but let alone the logistical problems for the NFL, there are a lot of logistical problems for the fans as well. Presumably, there are redskins (and bears) fans who might be traveling in to see the game, so should they be left in the lurch?

Pastabelly agrees with you, but thinks that the NFL is pushing the NFL Network SOOOO hard that they wouldn't dream of taking a game off of their schedule.

If the game was moved back to Friday or Saturday, NFL Network would still retain the rights.

Y'all do know that FedEx Field is used for other events on the weekends that the SKINS don't play.
There may ALREADY be events scheduled at the field for that weekend.

The schedule is what it is. Life goes on. Sometimes it's hard. That's what makes it worth living. Anyone wanna argue that #21 would want the world to stop for a little while or ruck up and keep going?

It says right on the ticket, "Date and time subject to change"
I don't think they'll change it, though....

Imagine if our soldiers stopped doing their jobs every time one of their coworkers went down ... No. Life goes on, dutiful obligations are fulfilled and the normal course of events resumes. Horrible tragedies happen every day all over the world; thousands upon thousands of Americans die suddenly from violence, accidents, medical conditions. And we don't shut down the normal course of business everywhere coworkers of the fallen are affected. Welcome to the Real World.
This wasn't a workplace incident involving the whole team, a Columbine-style attack; it wasn't 9-11. Rescheduling a game in light of those types of events would arguably be another matter. What happened here was sadly and simply what happens all too often in this world. Those we share life with are suddenly struck down. And we who are left behind struggle to move on in spite of our losses and our grief.
:2cents:
May God rest Sean's soul, and bless and comfort his family and friends who have been left behind to struggle on without him.

I agree - it should be changed but most likely won't be.

I'm cool with a move as long as they don't move it to Sunday. On the other hand, if they kept it on Thursday, they'd have it fresh in their minds that they want to win it for Sean.

The NFL Network could still do it. The only difference is it will be Saturday night. Since the Redskins hadn't asked for it, the NFL isn't going to change the game schedule.

I feel the National Football League should move the Bears game to at least Saturday, if not Friday.

Just saw an add on NFL Network for the match up in 2 weeks on Thursday night. Hmmm I wonder if something is up? Think about it. The team has an incredibly emotional game this Sunday after a horrible week. Then they fly to Miami, spend the day there Monday for the funeral, come back late Monday, emotionally drained and overwrought, the coaches have had ZERO time to look at tape, and the league expects them to play Thursday nite? Absurd. Move the game back a few days. No reason not to. Exceptional circumstances, obviously.

I agree. Move it to Saturday.

Absolutely is not happening. Dan Snyder decided not to petition the league for a date change, so the Thursday night game is pretty much locked in.

Just got off the phone with Greg Aiello, Senior VP of Communications for the NFL, who says that to the best of his knowledge there has never been one discussion about moving next Thursday's game between the Redskins and Bears. It has garnered no consideration.
Aiello said the NFL has not been contacted by either team regarding moving the game, there have been no internal discussions at the league office about it, yet he hears the same constant rumors and speculation we all do about this topic. Aiello says the only precedent for moving games in the past that he could immediately recall dealt with earthquakes and the Katrina situation with the Saints last year, obviously, and the league has always operated in this case as if next week's schedule would proceed as normal.

Channel 9 reports the Bears are open to movig the game if the Redskins are interestedbut the NFL has said because of "hotel accomidations and TV schedules, they are not interested". Screw the NFL, that is really lame. But the Redskins don't seem interested in moving it anyway but still the NFL TV scheule should not be a factor if the Bears and Redskins want to move this game
