How starkly clear was it shown the importance of Fred Smoot tonight. Those who have piled on him here should reconsider their position on Smoot. He is a warrior and a pretty damn solid cover corner. He's thin framed, but tough as nails for a corner.
Young John Eubanks was simply outmatched in Fred's absence. Luckily for the Redskins, Smoooooooooooooot sucked it up and got back on the field.
So :applause: for Fred.

I really dont know how good Smoot is. But whereever he ranks, Eubanks is 25% of Smoot.

I think we have our fair share of injuries, controversy, let downs, and tragedy. Can we just have a few games to feel good about ourselves? Yes, Smoot did well, it was completely night and day with him out of the lineup.

Man it was a HUGE sigh of relief to see him comeback. Now we need him to heal up over this little break we have here. Love Eubanks but whoa!....that kid is a HUGE liability. Thank God for Leigh Torrence because things could have gotten very very ugly. What happened to David Macklin? No way he's worse than Eubanks. (In Eubanks defense, he's very young.....nevermind, so is Torrence....some got it and some don't and Eubanks ain't got it:laugh: )

Well, you also have to remember that the new guy gets a big target painted on his back. Not to mention that he was trying to cover Devin Hester. Not exactly an easy job.

thats it right there, Smoots heart is really big man. He's shown that he will sacrifice his body to make a play. He may joke around alot, but under the lights, he's a serious man.

Smoot has a big heart. He has grown so much in the past 2 years. I appreciate him. I'm glad he's back home again. He's a Redskin. He's right where he belongs.

Smoot has always been my wife's favorite player since his first stint here. He's always a guy who has worked hard out there, and I was proud to welcome him back here.

He earned my respect his first go around with the Skins when he played a couple games despite that sternum injury. Every time he made a tackle you could see him wince in pain, but he sucked it up.
In a way he's like Portis. Both sometimes act glib and goofy off the field, and that blinds some people to the tough football players that they are on the field.

Smoot has played fantastic the past 3 weeks. I never realized until this year how strong of a tackler he is. He is perfect in Zone. He reads the play and almost always drops the guy as soon as he catches the ball.
As a side note, I REALLY hopw he stays healthy, we need him big time. Thankfully he has 3 extra days off now

Remember, that Danny signs the cheques and the players sign the contracts, but WE decided who are Redskins.
Fred just might have become a Redskin.
