It can not be said enough how much this guy means to our team. Did you see the blocks he was laying down. On one play he took the blitzer right off the screen of the camera! Love this guy!

CP always blows people up with his blocks...i wish i could watch coaching tape just to watch him block sometimes.

I just loved CPs big pass reception were Samuels escorted him down the field. Fantastic

Why? He's been our best blocking OL all year.

Portis has been blocking this way for 2-3 years here. He has stepped up and become a main factor on offense in all aspects. He didin't lay down these blocks when he was with Denver, he's just evolved into a selfless team player. Other teams should check out C-PO's heart and take notes because he is the all around best in the league.

Also, I missed exactly what was said-but I think the annoucers said something about CP going to comfort Campbell's parents on the sidelines right after the injury.
He really is the heart of this team right now.

Portis came to us from Denver (who drafted him) in the Champ Bailey trade not Tampa.
You could certainly make a case that Portis is the best pound for pound pass blocking RB in the NFL but all round best is a heck of a reach. He certainly leaves it out on the field and has contributed a lot off the field as well as on it.
Don't get me wrong I'm a big Portis fan - the drop off in our running game is more about lack of run blocking than any fault of CP IMO. He is a top 10 back but no way is he the #1 all round back in the NFL.

When watching games it looks like CP has lost a step. Hes a player that cannot spark the team on his own. A team player of the highest calibre. When he gets chances, he'll do something, but alone he'll never spark this team. He needs Moss and Cooley to get him rolling.

Portis is more than just a football player to this team; its a shame that he gets called into question as often as he does, yeah he's been dogged with injuries and as a result may not be as sharp as he was but his all round game is much better. IMO the Skins would miss him more than some people realise as his influence is not just from behind the LOS.
*cue the Betts/Sellers vs Portis debate round 6789...
*Edited as I am very tired!

Come on man. Portis may be the best blocking back, but he is far from the best running back in the league. Not sure if its injuries catching up, but he doesnt have that "it" factor with the ball in his hands anymore.
Perfect example. Last night in the 4th quarter inside the Bears 20, we run a fake to Sellers and pitch it out wide to Portis, who is one on one with a DB...a coaches dream. What does Portis do? He falls down.
This wasnt meant to be a CP bash fest. In fact, I love Clinton and I wore his jersey to the game last night. But to say he is the best all around back in the league is laughable. He is going to count $9 million against the cap next year. $9 million! Does anyone here really think he is worth that based on his play on the field?

It sucks that our o-line's injuries are keeping him and Betts from eating up yardage. If we could do that, Campbell/Collins would eat apart the pass game.

Portis is so great. Just wish the line could open some holes for him , so he can really show his stuff.
The only thing I am worried about is wearing him out... he does it all: blocks, runs and catches. He is such an asset to the team.

I said all around. That means in every aspect. Who will put themselves out there to make a block like him. His run game lacks but the leagues best runners don't match portis on blocking. He has good hands too. It's only my opinion and I base it on every aspect of the position.

I don't think he has lost a step. He's only, what, 26 or so? I just think our offensive line is horrible. That long reception run he had was proof. He looked like Ladanian on that play.

Uh, not to pull teeth but if remember correctly he was one on one with a pretty fast d-end with a corner coming in from the sideline. His only chance was to try and cut it back inside and he lost his footing.

All we need now is to give CP some holes, and he can actually run the ball!!!!!!!!

Not sure if pulling teeth is the metaphor you needed here bud.
Regardless of whether or not what you said is true (its not how I recall seeing the play develop), that sort of play has happened multiple times this year. He just doesnt seem to have the outstanding balance he showed a few years ago. Not sure why.

No, all you are talking about is his blocking and based on that you think he is the best in the league.
Portis is an average to below average receiver out of the backfield. He may have good hands, but it takes a lot more than that to be considered a good receiving running back. Betts runs circles around CP in this category.

That was Ogunleye, someone much bigger than Portis. He had the slightest bit of operating room and in stead of trying to make something happen and get stuffed for a driving killing loss of 5-6 yards he made it up and got back to the LoS

Well done.

Thats cool. Opinions are like *********s, everybodys got one. BTW its not his blocking that makes me think he's the best, its his character.

Portis has been an amazing blocker all year, and you're right, the heart of our team. I'm a huge CP fan and don't want to see him go.
That said, there are things this year that worries me. It seems like he's running to go down this whole year. By that I mean watching him run most of the time he seems to get the ball and is already starting to head towards the ground, and as such as soon as he's hit down he goes. Often times where in the past you'd see him trudging through people and going forward he seems to be running at a slant, just falling forward. He needs to get back whatever it was in him that used to allow him to shed that first hit and pick up YAC.
