Anyone else see that huge block by 26 that saved todd collins who was then able to hit yoder in the endzone?
Man a live. Why can't everyone be like clinton? (and heck no, i don't mean the president or his lady):dallasuck

He is our best overall football player. People just expect him to be some god. When what I love from him is his guts and heart.

Hey picks up a blitz better than anyone else in the league. He sees blitzes that even a QB doesn't. A number of times in the last few weeks the QB has turned to play action one way and Clinton is already on the opposite side adjusting to pick up a blitz. Saves their butts alot.

I saw it --- and remember at one point Portis was playing after complaining on the sidelines of feeling slightly ill. It was either Huff or Sonny that joked how he should throw up on one of the Bears.

ports is a great back but he is such a 2 way football player. He is so multi talented and have tremendus heart for his teammates and fans.. How dare people always give him a hard time.. He's got true heart. I've always supported portis with ups and downs. Just as i have the team.. Like portis saids when they lose it's a team loss not a indiviual player that lost it for them..:applause:

I don't know that Portis is the stand-alone best player on the team.
Best offensive player? Sure.
London Fletcher has something to say about the whole "best football player" comment, however.
Besides, offensive and defensive skills are completely different and not easily compared.

sorry, but portis is our best player. not only is he our best running back, he's our best blocker, he's just as emotional of a leader as fletcher, and he's just as good of a tackler, i think he's made ever tackle on an interception this year. i love fletch but he is on the down side of his game and hasn't been the best in pass coverage. that's not to say that i don't think he is good, but when you look at what clinton does and is capable of doing, there is not a single player on the team who can compare.

You're comparing a runningback... to a linebacker.

I think this is absolutely dead on, and even Troy Aikman said wors to that effect last time he and Buck were the commentators for one of our games

he picked up that blitz for TC last night and i was watching TC not CP. i just see CP flash sideways out of the corner of my eye and then a bears player gets turned around and flails backward. it was great.

Unfortunately we don't hire a running back to block.
This just makes him more liable to get further injured. If he was a fullback, sure. A running back? No way.
Portis nuthuggers point to his blocking skills to ignore his running this season.
If you want him to block--put him on the line.
We hired him to run. He is coming up about $6 million short on his $8 million salary.

I disagree...part of a running backs duties is to pick up blitzes and protect the QB... does this better than any other back in the league.

Coach Gibbs..is that you? :D
Seriously though. CP throws some ridiculous blocks. The best part about his blocking ability is that you can tell he loves lighting people up. He probably could have been a nasty safety.

And you're not a Betts nuthugger? It is what it is. Betts blocking- saftey. Portis blocking- TD. Betts running- 2 yards. Portis running- 2 1/2 yards on his way to 1000 after shoulder surgery.
Oh and as far as the pass catching- 54 yards on one play. If the line ever blocks, both backs could be lethal like the combo in Jax (Taylor/Jones-Drew).
