I cannot stress it enough. Thank you Chicago.
Boy was I dreading having to have next weeks game vs. Washington mean anything.
Way too many factors against Dallas that would have me fearing a big Redskins win.
I wasn't quiet about it last night and I won't be quiet about it today. Huge deal for Dallas.
Revenge minded Redskins team with season possibly on the line. No Owens, Gurode or Watkins. Romo not playing like Romo because of the thumb. Cold and possible inclement weather. Didnt like it one bit.
But now, again, :whew:, dont have to worry about it.
Thanks again Chicago.
And of course, good luck to night Washington.

I don't think the Cowboys are just going to mail it in as some people think. Phillips has already stated that, while he would probably rest injured players, he thinks 3 weeks of not playing would cause the team to lose its mental focus.
Expect the non-injured starters to to play at least a half.

I feel great about having a bye and home field.
I don't feel great about how the team has played the last 3 games.
But with a few weeks to relax, heal and regroup, I think I'll probably feel better soon enough.
But I'm not so sure you actually care how I feel. ;)

I don't make any bones about it, I am not ego-driven or "macho" in my feeling towards the game next week. The less the Cowboys have to play for next week the happier I am.
The fact of the matter is the Cowboys at 100% are better then the Redskins right now, so any advantage my team can get I am happy with. My team is fighting for it's playoff life, so any help is much appreciated.

I think the Eagles did us a favor last week-we went on cruise control since the GB game, and you could tell our focus was OFF-you could tell the coaches, especially Garrett, went back to the drawing board, and the players last night just played with alot more intensity.:2cents:

I have no fear in losing to the skins. We've already beaten you once so we won't be swept this year and I can go to sleep with visions of a playoff game dancing in my head.
You on the other hand, should be very afraid of losing to the Cowboy's backups at home. Thus being swept by the dreaded Cowboys and missing out on the playoffs. Don't you just shudder at how long the off-season would feel if that happened. To come so close and then.......ugh! The D has played fairly well and I would substitute freely for them. Especially for Newman and Henry. I would play Romo at least 2-3 series because the O has not been great the past 2 games and I'd like to give him a chance to have some positive momentum going into the playoffs.
Come on, there is no comparison who has the bigger burden. The Cowboys have a burden to risk injury to starters to beat the skins. For what? To avoid maybe meeting the skins if they subsequently win a playoff game. Compared to the skins needing to win to just be able to play another game. I don't think the Cowboys will be losing sleep worrying about winning this game.

The burden is on you as to whether or not you're playing your starters. We'll play you hard no matter what because our playoff lives depend on it. If you wanna discount what the rivalry means and discount the intensity of the games we've played recently, then go ahead. Anybody who follows the NFCE knows that the biggest rivalry is between Dallas and Washington. It's not just some fanciful label you place on our games, it's very real. 13-2, homefield throughout and resting comfortably for the next 2+ weeks.

Sure the Skins worry me.
But so does every other team in the NFC.
Remember, the playoffs are a whole 'nother ball game right? Isnt that what you said?
Keeping that in mind, I worry about every game.
But youre obviously already planning for a trip to the NFC championship, which, by your posts, would probably be a road game at New York.
Me? I'll go one game at a time. Starting Jan. 12-13.

Werent the Redskins the hottest team going into the 2005 playoffs?
And werent the Redskins the team that squeaked by a piss poor Tampa team in the first round?
And werent those hot Redskins the same team that bowed out to Seattle the next week?
Yeah, the hot teams usually do coast to the Super Bowl.
We weren't hot. We were injury riddled and riding a hobbled Portis. But yeah, we did have enough momentum to get by the first round. That's the way we roll.
When's the last time Dallas won anything past their first game in the playoffs? The way you guys are playing, I guess I would be more worried about getting to the game against us than actually playing us.

Well maybe you should re-think what the word burden means.
The Cowboy's burden (your word which really doesn't fit here but I'll go with it) is trying to get through the game without getting players injured and go into the playoffs. Not much of a burden.
The skins burden is putting formulating a game plan, executing it and actually winning the game to stay alive to be able to play another game. Now if you don't think that is any type of burden than so be it. I hope your team thinks the same way because they will be sitting at home watching the playoffs wondering how they let the season slip away from them.

Burden does fit. You just have no clue what it means, obviously. The decision you have to make is a burden. It's not a burden for us to make any kind of decision because it'll be the same either way. You have to think of your future with that decision. We don't have to think of our future to make any sort of decision. We'll play it the same no matter what. No burden in the decision, like Dallas, just play like we usually play you and we're in. No burden.

The Cowboy's burden is making decisions on how many snaps to play their players, showing up to the stadium and trying not to get injured. You should be thankful the skins don't have that troublesome burden on their shoulders.
The skins have many different kinds of burdens. Making decisions on a gameplan to stop the Cowboys offense or how to effectively attack the Cowboys D but their ultimate burden is playing well enough to actually WIN THE GAME!
Each teams burden is to win enough games to make the playoffs and continue their season with ultimate aspirations of winning the SB. The Cowboys have met that burden of making the playoffs and the skins have not.
I'll gladly take the burden of making a few personnel decisions and you can have the burden (or whatever you want to call it) of having to win the game and make the playoffs.

There was definitely a lot of Redskins fans this week who got suckered into the emotional magic ride of the four game winning streak and either forgot or didn't realize how the odds were really stacked against the Skins going into Seattle. There was a lot of unwarranted chest thumping going on here. Now you guys know. As we found out last year, it is difficult to get a win up there.
But to your defense, I do hope Cowboys don't over here and gloat. We still haven't broken the playoff jinx (and I'm on record as saying they won't this year). Of course if I'm wrong, I will be the first to admit and own up to it.

Still doesn't change 1 yard rushing. With your starters in for 3 quarters. No matter how meaningless the game, the NFCE division winner with a 2 loss record should never put that kind of fail on the field heading into the playoffs. Maybe if you had been playing your third string back and second string line you'd have a case. As it turns out, it was your starters and your next game has nothing to do with how futile your efforts were last week.
Edit: Also, you guys keep saying it was totally meaningless, but there's audio of Keith Davis before the game talking about how they were gonna knock us out that day. Don't tell me you guys didn't come in with the notion that you were gonna win.

Just so you don't continue to state things inaccurately, Romo played one series into the 2nd half.
And the backup offensive line entered the game when Brad Johnson did as well. Only Kozier, the least talented of the starting 5 remained in the game.
So the line and Romo played one series into the 2nd half.
And if Carpenter seeing the most action he's seen in his career didnt show you what Dallas was up to, I dont know what would.

Still have yourself convinced that the Dallas team you saw last week was the same team they'll trot out next week vs Tampa or New York?
Man, you are delusional. ;)
Oh-you're the poster who dug up this old thread.
Seriously man-as much as I hate to say it, I'm with WB36 on this-what's the point in digging up these useless threads to rub it in the Skins' fans faces? Remember when we lost to the Eagles last month? How would you have felt if Skins fans came on our board, started digging up old threads, and rubbed it in us?
And like I said above-especially if Owens doesn't play, the Bucs and Giants are going to give us fits.:(

Come on, seriously-what's the point in trying to rub it in to Skins fans here?
To be frank-neither the Bucs nor the Giants will be slam dunks for us. As a matter of fact, especially considering we may not be without our big playmaker, both Tampa 2 and the Giants' sick pass rush could give us alot of fits.
I'm not rubbing anything in to "Skins fans".
ACR and myself (if you read the whole thread), had a friendly back and forth that lasted a little while.
If, after reading our little banter, you say you didnt think I'd simply remind HIM, and him alone, it's a little naive, IMO.

Well...if we're talking about us not having momentum going into the playoffs, look at how the momentum you guys had helped you out today. And if we're not talking about momentum, then why are we talking about this meaningless game?
And yes, I'm sticking to the fact that the game was meaningless. Thw Cowboys had nothing to play for.Now matter how you look at it, they weren't motivated.
Keith Davis sure was. I saw a lot of flying around on your defense in the game. In concept it was meaningless, but I don't think it intended that way when they stepped on the field. It's just a safety net now that we abused you.

See my previous post.
This has nothing to do with Dallas vs. anyone else.
It has to do with ACR bolding claiming, without regard for any backlash, that Washington would smack Dallas in round 2.
Nothing more, nothing less.
This is the last time I'd ever bump such a silly thread, but ACR saw it coming.
Right ACR? ;)

Romo played into the third quarter, which is what I said. Why are you trying to split hairs?
Carpenter was a first rounder, wasn't he? :)

Just count your lucky stars that we did go down before we went to Dallas. I mean, this bump would have a lot more meaning if you actually beat us. Since we went down before we got to Dallas, it seems a little desperate, and douchey, right HHM?

Yes he did, but he didnt play 3 quarters.
He played 2 full quarters, and about, 60 seconds. But who is counting. ;)
And sadly, yes, Carpenter was a first. Thanks. Bill.

Eh, to some, maybe, like WB36, but does anyone care what he thinks? :)
I had to since you got so presumptious with our divisional round matchup.
It was more based on that, completely writing Seattle off, than anything else.

What can I say. I got my team's back and I still say we would have taken you out. Seattle still doesn't seem that good to me. The have a good, speedy defense, but nothing to write home about. I'll overlook them every year until they do something besides win a weak division and lose in the playoffs. That's just my way of looking at it. I'm not gonna trot out any excuses because they put a beatin' on us today, but I'm still pretty proud of what we did this year considering all the circumstances. If I had it to do all over again, I would still come in here slightly lit and still talk all the same trash. No regrets from me.

What makes you think you guys would have beat us in Dallas, momentum?Yeah, we figured out how far momentum takes you.
The fact that you beat us in a game that didn't matter and our offensive starters played 30 minutes?
Sounds like faulty logic to me

Didn't we come close to beating you last time in Dallas? What makes you so sure that we wouldn't have beaten you given a second chance? Momentum counts for something, even if you sit here and deny it. People don't talk about momentum going into the playoffs because it's meaningless. Plus the fact that it's a rivalry game and we know each other's team and match up well. Momentum means that things are clicking on the field. It means that guys are on the same page and things are coming pretty easily. I mean, that's just common sense. It's not a guarantee of anything, but it's not meaningless either.

It was sweet. This loss doesn't take away the fact that we embarrassed your starters who were in the game for 3 quarters. 1 yard rushing is Fail in epic proportions. You can try to paint over it with all the vanilla excuses you want, but that's just futility like nobody's business. Good luck in trying to win your first playoff game in over 10 years.
Amazing how things changed in a game that counted on the road. Get a grip on reality dude. I knew this would happen today. Out of gas, out of steam. Turn out the lights! What happened to all the "momentum"... you were so good in December?

MEANINGLESS! AS IN MEANINGLESS GAME TO US, EVERYTHING FOR YOU AT YOUR HOME.

Ohh but we did beat you in the only game this season that actually mattered to us. Not our fault that you didn't qualify to play us again. We were waiting.

And you shouldn't have any regrets at all.
Redskins ending up turning out, what seemed like a disasterous season, into an incredible run and something to be proud about for a long, long, time, probably forever.
I simply couldnt resist reminding you that Seattle has a pretty decent football team too.
I can't really blame you, I too don't think they are a Super Bowl caliber team this year, but I will disagree about not taking them seriously.
It was only two seasons ago that they were in the big dance, in a game where they coulda, and if you speak to some, shoulda won, if not for some timely officiating in Pittsburgh's favor. They were right there, and some still think they were clearly the better team in that game.
But that's here nor there, I respect you a great deal ACR, and your loyalty to your Redskins is nothing short of tremendous. As it should be.
But I think, and I think you agree, there's nothing wrong with me playfully serving you a little crow.
Especially considering, in the end, how great of a season the Redskins actually did have.
