jabar gaffney was asked this question recently by Boston Herald
He said the team didn't want the NFL to forget about their fallen teammate this past offseason Marquise Hill during the hyped up media attention of Safety Sean Taylor's slaying.
He said it was of no disrespect to not have Sean Taylor's number on their helmets it was more of just remembrance of their own teammate. He said the team voted on it and due to how close the franchise is, all the Patriots players came to an anonymous vote/agreement not to wear 21.
I don't think it has anything to do with them being disrespectful. There is at least 7 Patriot players that still wear 21 as well.
someone brought up a good point. if that's the case, why don't they wear both?
