Just wondering.
I know Parcells interviews him tomorrow and we all know he is the front runner.
So is he announced or does that have to wait until the Cowboys season is over?

Has to wait until our season is over. Then It would be a week or two then we will probably sign Hudson Houck.

I don't think a week matters much.

Wasn't Houck a position coach (OL) with Miami?

Why are you so concerned about this?

Why not? It's good to know the rule.

He was. But he was one of the coaches that was let go. He was our old O-line coach who had us have our most dominant line. He coached I believe 6 different Lineman to Pro Bowls. Emmitt also won the rushing title when Houck was the O-Line coach. So it could be a easy fit back in Big D if Sparano leaves.
He also inherits 3 Pro Bowl lineman. Which is pretty nice when you come from Miami.

Harry Carson called Parcells the day that he fired Cameron and told him that the :pooh: would hit the fan if he didn't interview a minority coach before making his decision.

If he has already made up his mind it isnt gonna change if he interviews 30 minorities

You know that, I know that and every other rational person knows that. What Parcells needs to do to keep the league office from dropping their hammer on him is to interview at least one "minority" to appease the letter of the Rooney Rule.

The Rooney Rule is a joke. Everyone knows the teams have a pretty good idea who they want to go after. Interviewing for the sake of interviewing puts a negative on the whole thing. Interviewing 1 minority candidate just to get past the Rooney Rule is an injustice for the minority candidates that really are qualified. Makes it look like a token interview. There has to be another way of doing this. I wish I had the answer.

Parcells won't interview anyone without they're likely being hired.
Look at Ireland.
Sparano is going to be Miami's HC...he probably already knows it.

SPARANO TO INTERVIEW WITH FINS
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Cowboys offensive line coach Tony Sparano will interview on Saturday for the vacant head-coaching position with the Dolphins.
Sparano was scheduled to meet with the Falcons on Friday, and is due to interview with the Ravens on Saturday morning.
By rule, assistant coaches with teams having playoff byes may interview during the bye week. Saturday is the last day for any such interviews. The assistants then remain off limits until their seasons end.
It has been widely rumored that the Dolphins and football poobah Bill Parcells are focused on hiring Sparano, who was on Parcells' staff in Dallas for each of his four years there.

I can't say that about the ones on the current roster. That would make Sparano look to be albe to do more with the talent at hand. Perhaps Miami's line could have been better under different leadership. :whoknows:
EDIT-I just looked at what Houck had in Miami. Shelton is okay and Satele seems to be the real deal. I dont know much about the others but he had some talent.
BTW-I think Jrock was pimping up Satele last season.

You can't hire a coach until the season is over, announcing the hiring even if you don't make it official would be tampering.

I'd rather have Sparano, but if he leaves, I'd gladly take Hudson Houck. The guy made Vernon Carey a decent LT (a guy who's natural position is guard, but less talented than Lenord Davis imo). But overall hasn't had much to work with in Miami, not to mention horrendous QB play.

Tony Sparano Already Lining Up His Coaching Staff?
As Bill Parcells insists that he hasn't offered the team's vacant head-coaching position to Cowboys assistant Tony Sparano, given that to do so before the Cowboys' season ends would be a clear violation of league rules, we've gotten an anonymous tip indicating that Sparano might already be lining up his staff in Miami. Though we're not reporting this as hard news, we've been advised to keep a close eye on a man named David Lee. Lee is slated to be the next offensive coordinator at Mississippi under Houston Nutt. Lee served as offensive coordinator in 2007 under Nutt in Arkansas. And Lee spent the prior four years working with Sparano and Parcells in Dallas. There's a rumor that Lee has told Nutt that he won't be coming to Mississippi, and that Lee instead will be on Sparano's staff in Miami. As the rumor goes, Nutt already is looking for another offensive coordinator. We'll let the "real" media do the rest on this -- with full knowledge that they'll take full credit for the scoop if they can corroborate our rumor, and that some of them will gripe about the fact that they've been assigned the task of chasing a story that showed up as a mere rumor on some Internet hack's blog. Regardless, we suspect that Nutt will be getting a few calls tomorrow. He might even get a few tonight.

I have no doubt that Parcells has told Sparano he's getting the job, I was just pointing out an NFL rule about naming coaches when they're still active.

If the Cowboys are lucky Ireland and Soparano will be the only two they lose.
It will be interesting to see what if anything Garrett is offered.

Sure sounds like it, doesn't it?
I hope Sparano can stay focused for the weekend...
