BUCS ASSISTANTS BEGINNING TO SCATTER?

Our pals at the Pewter Report report that Tampa Bay running backs coach Art "Vandelay" Valero has received permission to interview for the vacant offensive line coach position in St. Louis.

Valero joined the Bucs in 2002, when Gruden was hired. The Rams wanted to interview him for a position last year, but the Bucs blocked the move because Valero was still under contract.

Several Tampa Bay assistants have contracts that will expire at the end of the month. The fact that no move has been made to lock them up is fueling speculation that head coach Jon Gruden might be on the way out. Gruden is signed through 2008.

That is what happens when you lose a playoff game to the most unimpressive 10-6 team in the NFL. :D

Gruden's not a bad coach-if anything, he needs to show more patience with his young QBs.

Gruden's not a bad coach-if anything, he needs to show more patience with his young QBs.

He's a younger coach with a very old school way of thinking. Fact is, he just loves veteran QBs. He did the same with Rich Gannon in Oakland, and now he's done the same thing in Tampa with Brad Johnson, Brian Griese, and now Jeff Garcia.

But I agree, if they consistently bring in these veteran QBs, that team is always going to be in a "win-now" mindset. Sounds familiar ...

Oh geez. Here come the Gruden to DC rumors. The only worse choice than Gruden would be Billick.

I doubt Gruden is going anywhere, but he needs to be out of Tampa.

Gruden has lost two home playoff games over the past three years and was on shaky ground when the last season ended. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they decided to axe him.

Nahh Gruden ans his yes man just re-signed 3 of the most worthless offensive coaches ever in the NFL, so Gruden is staying and Buccaneers are going to go back to being the laughing stock.

I wouldn't say laughing stock. Gruden needs to stick with his young QB's more.

Gruden has had so many injuries he dosen't get a chance to stick with his young QB's or RB's for that matter.

Id love to see him in DC, the attitude he brings would be great for this team
