Anyone else see this? Was checking on Musician's Friend's Stupid Deal of the Day and saw this http://www.musiciansfriend.com/Gibson-robot
Not sure if it's really worth the pricetag (not sure how much it is but imagine it's in the $2,000 price range), but a cool novelty nonetheless

In ten years:
Try Gibson's new Fingermatic! You can now play like a rockstar without moving your fingers. That's right, the Fingermatic does all of the hard work for you. Sweep picking a problem for you? Well, it is not for fingermatic!! Play all of the difficult stylings of your guitar heroes without breaking a sweat. Starting at only $7989!!
Drugs and groupies are not included!

Man - this is so cool.
I think I would wait a few months until they get all the bugs worked out, though.

Thats funny as hell.
I know Guitar Hero is really popular now but the funny thing is that all the time spent playing the game, you could be learning how to actually play a guitar and do it for real!

Good concept. Price needs to come down, but you could say that about anything Gibson makes.

It is a cool novelty, but if you want a "real" Les Paul, don't buy a Gibson, buy a Heritage. You won't get the auto-tuning devices et al, but it will sound and play better (unless you settle for their bottom of the line H140).

It's to compete with the Fender/Roland Strat where it models different tunings without having to re-tune the guitar. But that is modeling technology, so the sound you hear out of the amp is not the real thing, while this Gibson is. Wouldn't spend the money on it, but I'm curious to see how well/fast it actually works.
Got to give them credit for trying to be innovative...

AARGH.... stop saying this....
If I wanted to learn the guitar, I would learn how to play the guitar... If I want to play an innovative game, I'll play an innovative game...
All the time spent playing madden, you could be at the gym training to tryout for the NFL...
All the time playing GRAW you could be serving in the Marines instead.
It's a freaking video game, some people just don't care about doing things in "real life"

What in the world?!? Very cool and an interesting look at the future of guitars, but not something I'd pay extra for.

I would never buy this guitar..... It takes the fun work out of playing.... The imperfections of self tuning make it all the better.

Pretty cool, pretty dumb. That's basically the reaction you'll get from guitar players.
