View Full Version : Cramps in Feet and Legs

I am home sick today with some sort of stomach virus.

I went to work......puked in my office.....and came home.

This afternoon I have had HORRIBLE PAINFUL cramps in my feet and legs.

The kind that draw your feet up and legs up.

I tried to rub them out and it hurts so bad.

Can anyone tell me anything to get these out or to stop?

I have had to put them under hot water......and that helps......but am wondering if there is another "cure."

Thanks.

I think you're dehydrated.

Drink some room temp H2O with a pinch of salt for electrolytes. You also should try and take a multi vitamin or two with potassium, which is good for muscle cramps.

Make sure you're not dehydrated.

Potassium shortage?

Calcium?

Sorry, I don't what else to tell you.

Do bananas help?

I am having trouble keeping food down.

Its likely your potassium, plus, when you don't eat, your body starts to breakdown non-carbohydrate sources of energy (like the muscles in your legs). Can you keep bananas down?

Rubbing alcohol massage will make them feel better, if you have any around....

So sorry to hear of your discomforts, Blondie.

With the stomach virus and puking...well, it's that time of the season. But the horrible cramping in your feet and legs...I don't know. You might want to be seen by a doctor. I hope you're feeling well real soon.

I have alcohol.

I ate bananas yesterday.....I think I might be able to keep them down.

I am drinking sprite.......and it is making my stomach roll.......but it is staying down.

I need a volunteer to rub my legs.

Diet or regular? Sugar doesn't help you rehydrate at all. I caught a case of food poisoning last year and felt worse and worse when housing more and more Gatorade.

H2O is the way to go.

Breast cramping is extremely rare. Although if it turns out you're in the minority, I have plenty of frequent flyer miles.

Nice try King....

Both are correct. Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. If you can go to the market, get some bananas and (sugar free) gatorade.

B- do you have any other symptoms (fever etc)?
Do you take any medications ie. for high BP etc?
Do you have any other medical conditions?

If it is potassium or metabolite deficiency, the sugar-free gatorade should work.

Feel free to PM.

I'm an athlete so I've seen it before. it sounds like a bad case of prolonged dehydration. best thing to do is it get a heat pad, put in under the worst spots on your legs and drink slightly chilled water, not too cold and not luke-warm. that and soaking them in hot water helps alot. completely submerge them in hot water for about 30 minutes and the cramps should get better. it takes the body 24 hours to hydrate so it'll be tough.

edit: almost forgot. electrolytes with help too. I also heard somewhere that bananas are good for cramps??? not sure though I tried it once and it didn't help that much.

Wife says just to be safe, see your doctor.

If you're taking hydrochlorothiazide, you need to get your blood checked.

This thread had the potential for us to completely flip into an extremely sexual night for Blondie.

Alas, this is the first time I saw it
