View Full Version : So..CAN we catch Orlando?
The End

With the Heat finally out of the division race after nearly 5 years of owning us, now it looks like its between us and Orlando. Remember, at this time last year we had already peaked (the december to remember was over) and we were riding its good feeling into the all-star game. But this year, it seems like our surge is coming a month later. A month closer to when the games really start to matter.
So my question to you is...assuming Agent Zero will only be around for the playoffs (If it all), can we actually catch the magic and win this division for the first time in Eddie's reign? Most people think the magic are strong, but we've got something they don't...experience down the stretch.
What are the keys? Pecherov? Consistency out of Brenden? Personally, I think its getting a high level of energy and a play out of Stevenson every night. When he gets pumped up, the entire team responds. He's more animated on the court than the two captains, and it seems like he can turn the game's flow on a dime at any time on either end of the court. That, and of course, avoiding the snake bite.

I wouldn't count out the Hawks so quickly.
We are only two games out of first as of 1/14 and we are missing our best player. I think the Magic will continue to play at or a little above what they have recently which should put them on track for a 45-50 win season. Its going to be tough for us to put up that many wins without GA, it is not impossible though.
I think the keys are definately the bench. W/O the bench we don't stand a chance. I think we will float just around .500. Getting Gil back in March would be huge to this team, the more games they win like Sat night, the better off we will be when Agent Zero gets back.
My prediction is...
Magic 45-37
Wizards 42-40
Hawks 37-45
Heat....i just can't see them playing this bad the WHOLE season 27-55
Bobcats 26-56

Even though I'm not a Wizards fan, the answer to your question is yes, you can catch Orlando. I don't know that that means that you will, but it's completely possible. The Hawks have been playing well lately and they'll challenge you for second, but I don't see them catching up.
Although, I DO think that Miami will finish last in the division if they don't make a big move at the deadline. They need changes there.

We will catch the Magic with, or without Gilbert.

Gilbert is the key come playoff time, but as far as catching Orlando I think we can. They always fall apart and look at that team.
It just seems very dysfunctional to me. Turkolu hits the game winner, yes, but he is not an all-star like everyone is proclaiming. The guy is a solid 3/4 forward, but nothing really stands out for me about him other than he is a poor man's Peja. Howard is a dominating force, but his offensive game is not up to the level it needs to be. Rashard Lewis never was a go to guy in Seattle and he's not in Orlando.
I think the Magic have a lot of good offensive players, but they just don't have a guy like Gilbert, Butler, or Antawn who can really go on a tear.
