they did not get Indianapolis and Dallas in the Conference Championship Games.

The NFL is a business and I think they are probably wanted #1 Vs #2 in each Conference for ratings proposes.

I think they are more upset that the Colts are not going because Colts / Patriots are the rivalry of this decade. Outside of Southern California the Chargers do not have a real big following.

As for the NFC you have the Giants who are in the biggest media market but I think they wanted there Glamour Team in the title game so they could hype up an "Old Favre Vs. New Favre" Match Up.

Yep deep down the NFL wanted Indianapolis Vs. New England in the AFC Title Game and Green Bay Vs. Dallas in the NFC Title Game.

Oh yeah because there is a chance (slim one at that) that the Super Bowl could be the Giants & The Chargers.

As much as anything, they probably wanted an Indy/Giants Super Bowl. because a Manning brother vs brother Bowl would be a huge marketing boost.

I think they wanted Dallas / New England. The NFL’s Galmoure Team against a team searching perfection.

I think you're right and also if Dallas went I would be safe to say there would be at least 1 or 2 Jessica Simpson shots during the game.

I wouldn't think they'd be that mad. The Giants are a big market team, so they have some drawing power, and having them over Dallas ain't so bad. As far as Indy, they probably would be a little bit more upset at that, but since LT is probably playing in the title game, that's not a bad deal either.

I think they'd be a lot angrier if the Pats didn't make it to the Superbowl.

I doubt it. This isn't like the NBA where there's a huge difference in ratings depending on which teams are in it.

The playoffs, Super Bowl included, are always setting ratings records and I guarantee that all of us would watch the Super Bowl even if it was the Jacksonville Jaguars versus the Arizona Cardinals.

I think in a way, it benefits them in the long run. Fans won't be just expecting the top two seeds to win the divisional round and it may attract a larger audience in that round in the future.

I'd hafta agree. And then they really wanted a Dallas - NE Super Bowl. Number 1 seed vs. Number 1 seed.

Personally, although GB isn't anywhere near a major market, I think Brett has a lot of football fans now rooting for him to knock off Brady and the Pats ... so people will tune in for that.

I'm really hoping the Pack gives 'em a run for their money (provided they win tomorrow of course ... I was a Giants fan last week and last week only) :)

Yeah they're probably upset. These matchups won't get the ratings and # of viewers that the #1 & 2 seeds in each conference playing each other would have gotten.

The only way the NFL is going to be upset is if the Chargers beat New England. If New England wins, then the Superbowl will be the highest rated Superbowl in history, no matter who plays the Patriots. At that time, they also could care less if New England wins or loses.

Hate being a conspiracy type person, however I'll be watching the refs a lot more than the players. There instructions may be to watch San Diego a lot closer than New England.

As long as they get Patriots/Packers ala Brady vs. Favre..the NFL will be happy!

Well, now they've got Boston and New York, the BIGGEST sports towns in America.
