Didn't they have him just a couple of months ago??

MWC (Mary Washington College???) It is usually better to only post these a week or two before the event so that people remember them.

I thought that was the one where he did not show up????
Either way I myself prefer more notice than less anytime....

It is Mary Washington College. Of courser, we're now the University of Mary Washington but to me it'll always be Mary Washington College.

As for experiences at the store, they're okay. If you buy something they usually let you get a picture with the athelete. I got a mini signed by Laron last time and took a picture with him.

Mean Staff??? What did they do, closeline you when you decided not to purchase anything???http://extremeskins.com/forums/images/smilies/laugh.gif

My brother and I walked and in and there was a lady standing at the desk. My brother then saw some Michael Vick stuff and said jokingly "Shouldn't this Michael Vick stuff be on clearance?" She then says "NO!" with a http://extremeskins.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif look on her face.

Then, I see a Jason Campbell signed helmet and it's sweet. So I barely touch the front of the facemask to see if the helmet is authentic or just some cheap replica and she says "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!" http://extremeskins.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif While I realize I wasn't supposed to be touching the memorabilia, it still doesn't mean she had to pretty much yell at me. She was only 10 feet away. I didn't touch anywhere near the autograph either.

So by then I'm like ok, whatever. I continue to look around and see a small Chipper Jones signed picture for like $150 or $200. I then proceed to say to my brother "If you send Chipper Jones a letter, he'll send you a free autographed picture." She just sat there giving me a glare.

Needless to say, I don't shop there anymore. http://extremeskins.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have been in that store and yes it is extremely overpriced! That being said, 35 isn't bad for Laron Landry considering he is quickly becoming the fan favorite in this town. I know that they charge 100 even for Cooley and I thought that was really high! Portis, Moss, and Taylor back in the summer were at the highest 75 bucks and I thought that was high. I guess since Cooley made the Pro Bowl, they decide that they can charge whatever they want. It is probably easier to get their autographs at training camp and they don't charge there.

I am sure it is some sort of combination. I am sure LaRon is not showing up to the store out of the kindness of his heart... and I am sure the store is paying him only because they think they can make a profit.:2cents:

I am almost sure they would... before you do anything like that... go to www.signingshotline.com (http://www.signingshotline.com). It is a website that lists almost every signing in the country... you can then go and look up promoter ratings. It will let you know if anyone has had problems with mail orders in the past.

Actually I think that you posted their website. www.leaderinsports.com

They have pretty decent stars and they sell jerseys of the players autographed for a decent price. While I love Cooley, I don't think that a 100 for a one time pro bowler is worth that, considering he is a very gracious signer and you can get his autograph at training camp for free. I have seen their merchandise and they have a lot of cool stuff at psgamegear, but I believe that because they are a mall store they are catering to a different crowd.

That is my local store... I have been to several of their signings (they even have Paul Krause this weekend)... I have never been to ps game gear, so I don't know what their prices are.

Your local store as in you own it or is because you live in Fredricksburg, that is the store closest to you? Either way, I much prefer what I have seen from Leaders in sports because they get the old school redskins players that people really have come to think are real redskins. Not to mention the fact that the prices are extremely reasonable. I think for both Monte Coleman and Neal Olkewicz to sign, it will be 30 bucks. That ain't bad. I saw that some of the money from the autographs will be donated to the Chris Cooley charitable foundation or some association, so I could live with that. Otherwise, I think it is crazy to pay that kind of money for an autograph.

He is telling the truth. they used to be in fair oaks mall. I live not more than a block from fair oaks and used to stop in all the time to check things out. While they had some cool items and a decent selection the prices were out of this world.

The owner, a large female, is not a nice lady. Since i was really into autographs i would try to talk to her about the industry and various items but she was never interested in it. It was buy or leave.

They were selling a full size univeristy of maimi helment signed by either Portis or Taylor, not both for over 300 a piece. Retail value is more like 200-250.

However i have them both on the same helmet and all it took was going to training camp.

However, 35 for landry is fine by me. Sucks i am at school now, gonna have my brother try to go and get my 75th Landry signed.

Well being overpriced is how they stay in business. They buy a helmet for say 20 bucks, another 20 bucks for the autograph and sell it for 300.

Now other costs like overheard, heating ect factor in, prob one of the reasons for the high price, but the margin has to be nice.

Still people and parents who dont know much about the industry dont seem to have a problem dropping large amounts of money for autographs as gifts and buying them in a retail store.

I received a response from the store regarding mail orders-->

Yes, Mail order services are always available...The autograph fee is $35.00 per autograph plus return shipping (depends on the item).

You can send payment with your item to:

Who said I have to like a shop?

I like to buy from the promoters after their shows. Guys like "gamebreaker sports" put their extra items up on ebay. Much cheaper way to get the exact same products.

For example, i think it was 1-2 years ago Gamebreaker hosted Santana Moss for a signing. Well PS Game Gear bought some of gamebreakers items. They then went on to sell them at an ultra high cost at their fairoaks store.

I know this because there was a "gamebreaker" hologram on all items from that particular signing.

I dont remember the exact prices but I know that I got a moss jerey for around 75 dollars directly from game breaker where as ps game gear wanted upwards of 300 dollars.

My guess would be around 50 bucks. I do not know for sure. I assume gamebreak added the cost of the jersey to whatever he had to pay (that wasnt already covered for in the signing) then put it one ebay.

I was in the store on Sun morning. It is on Sat 2/16 from 1-3.

On a side note, they have gamers from guys on the 2004-05 teams for sale for $199.99. Garnell Wilds and players of his stature. They have a gamer from Marcus Washington against the Eagles in 2006 (rainy game in Philly) that is all kinds of mud-soked, and a gamer from Randle-El from the Cowboys game in 2006 (home) that has grass stains all over. They are asking RIDICULOUS amounts for these, like $1400 or so.

I still love to go look at all the cool things they have, like the authentic helmet signed by our three SB MVPs for $700. Man, if only I had $700 laying around....

Now I see what people mean by this store being over priced... those gamers the skins sell for $50. The SB MVP helmet is WAY over priced. Riggins signs for 175 on those items... Williams is around 60 or 70 and Rypien is 40-50. So, that is retail of 295 for the signatures and 100 for the helmet. DAMN.

I rarely spend money on the current players... you're going to spend 35 for landry's autograph... Sam Huff is the same price in Fredericksburg in June... and... can you say... LaVar... Ramsey... Schuler.....Westbrook....Gardner.... etc, etc, etc.

Personally, I have no respect for someone who makes committments, and then bags on them... how many times has he done this... I believe twice down in VA Beach, twice at this store, and once in Chantilly. I think he only actually made one of these.

I think you need to pick out a new potential husband... lots of quality guys on the team... Landry just does not appear to be one of them.

The last time they had him he showed up but it was 45min late....... since i was there first in line i got to chat with store employee's and others and i had the same feeling after 1pm came and the owner was walking around in a panic and lookin P'd off.....

What can you do.

Late... that can happen, traffic etc... but in Louisiana instead of appearing at the event... and he has done this how many times??? There is a thing called character... something he lacks.

Actually.. if Laron is that much of a low quality guy... it will bite us at some point anyway... all I have to say to Landry is: :nutkick::troll::finger:

I guess his time is more important than the people that were willing to pay him money to see him. The worst is that he has done it several times. My son is a huge fan of his or was. I dont think he was to thrilled that he failed to show up again. lessons learned.
