you can still go to the NFL website and order a customized 81 monk jersey. You can order any name on there. Although, a few years back, they did stop allowing people to print #7 Mexico Falcons jerseys...

Yup NFL. com is the only way to get one. I got a customized Monk jersey a few years ago.

Actually you can't put just any name on customized jerseys. Below are the rules regarding customization. The line regarding retired players applies to Monk. Although he finished up with the Jets and Eagles, I believe he retired as a Redskin so I don't think we can customize a Skins jersey to 81/Monk.

League player names must match current team rosters and the team for which they currently play
Retired player names cannot be printed on the team's jersey from which they retired
Both adult and youth jerseys hold up to 10 characters
Characters accepted: capital A-Z (name field only); 0-9 (number field only); spaces
Each space counts as one (1) character
Language deemed inappropriate, derogatory, or profane will not be accepted
If your selection does not meet all of the above criteria you will be prompted to start over

you can get personalized authentic jerseys. But you're right ebay is where it's at. I got mine there 4 years ago (since my old one was from I was 10 and didn't fit anymore...sigh).

I have two Stoll jerseys that I got from the NFL. There is not currently, nor has there ever been a Stoll in the NFL, let alone the skins.

You know, I think you're right. I now remember my boss ordered a customized Monk jersey several years ago. So, either they are pretty lax about the policy or I'm wrong about Monk retiring as a Redskin.

Yeah, the rules apply to current or retired players. You can get your name with any number with no problems.
