What are the odds Snyder strongly recommends the veteran coach for offensive coordinator, and Zorn complies?
As much as we all freaked out about the idea of him becoming HC, I don't think his veteran intelligence will be a bad thing for Zorn to have around as his top offensive assistant. Does he know the WCO though and will he be ok with Zorn calling the plays and him helping out more in an administrative role?

I think Zorn will get somebody he's comfortable with

Why would he humble himself and take the OC position after being shaftedof the HC position twice.

yeah, dude already said he felt used.
I guess it depends on how much more money he wants to make before social security.

Jim Fassel made the Ravens offense even worse than it was. They were the 31st ranked team one of the years he was OC. While with the Giants, Fassel's team NEVER finished in the top half of the league in scoring offense. Never in his 7-year tenure.
SAY NO TO FASSEL!

did you see how baltimore played the last couple of years? If you get fired by your best friend you know you messed up bad.

I'll be honest this opens up a LOT of possibilities for OC, look for names that maybe haven't coached in a while, perhaps a name like Bill Callahan (last I checked he isn't coaching anywhere after Nebraska cut him loose). That's unfortunately the only name in my head at the moment. Other than Fassel and Billick.

No, no, no, no.
I don't want him or Scientolojinx Tom Cruise anywhere near the Redskins ever.

Zorn has to get somebody that he's comfortable with, and also closely emulates his offensive style and teaching.
His original objective when he was hired was to primarily focus on Jason to turn him to be a great QB. With a much bigger work load, he probably won't be able to do that. So, with that being said, he has to hire somebody who's studied under him, and can probably teach like him, to teach Jason what he was originally gonna teach him.
Personally, I don't think Fassel is that guy.

My first thought was Bill Callahan, he's got NFL experience as a Coordinator, and I don't believe he's been hired anywhere. My second would be an up and coming coach that has a bit of experience with it. Not sure who that would be (College ranks maybe?)

my thoughts are that Zorn brings in someone he knows to be OC, a guy that he believes can teach the style of WC that he wants to implement.

Zorn will pick somebody he already knows personally....somebody he has coached with. It could even be a guy from the college ranks, and somebody that's not a household name......

If I am not mistaken, Bill Callahan was picked up as an assistant head coach with the Jets. That said, does anyone know the situation with Lane Kiffin in Oakland? That could be a solid fit of a young guy with WCO experience.

Whatever and whoever it would make sense for Zorn to hire a guy with both experience of in the WCO and NFL experience as a play caller. With all the rest of the things on his plate it might be too much for Zorn to call plays himself.

Are you kidding me?
1% chance. It's not zero simply because I'm never 100% sure regarding anything involving Snyder and his coaching staff decisions.
Fassel has probably vowed to never talk to Snyder again, and I can't blame him. Inches away from being the Skins coach now TWICE, and denied both times? Sure, to get passed over for Gibbs is hardly insulting. But this time - I mean, they picked a position coach (Zorn), a guy who's never even been a coordinator, over him!!! And he's going to come in and work UNDER Zorn? Hahahaha...
He'll never have dealings with Snyder ever again. Thank God for all of us.

I hope we get some hotshot college coach as the new QB coach. The next Josh McDaniels would be nice.
As to OC, just get a good hands-on coach, like for receivers.

With all due respect to the OP, lets never repeat his name again here.. lets just forget it was ever uttered. Time to move on and forget it every happened.

Seriously, lets not say that name any more. Lets just forget about it. Mods, please make a new rule that nobody's allowed to utter his name on here again. Refer to him as Billick's little brother, or whatever, but lets agree not to say the name any more. That was just too close for comfort..

I think Zorn will get a young guy or a guy who is well versed in the west coast offense. I'd like to see Tom Rathman as the offensive coordinator.

There's an interesting pick. He definately was always in the mix on those SF teams. Seemed like he was ALWAYS around the ball, either catching, running, or blocking. Have the sense that he really knows that system as well as anyone.
