hi everyone, i am a new member and i love this nice board you folks have put together. i live near the lowes motor speedway where joe gibbs will spend some of his time now. i hated to see him go as i have never seen a finer person that has represented any sport the way joe has.
anyway, i didnt think too much of the way dan and vinny picked a new head coach. i dont think any of us knows how zorn will do but we do know hes been good training quarterbacks. also, no one knows how this new mix of coaches will get along. i hope i am wrong on this but it looks to me dan and vinny want to run the team, a.k.a jerry jones. they got rid of the experienced coaches and now have a lot of inexperienced ones. i have never heard of a quarterback coach being promoted to head coach. has any of you? if zorn is such a find, why has he been the quarterback coach for 7 years in seattle? i also heard on the riggo show vinny say that dan and himself really never knew williams. whats up with that?
i hope i am wrong because we are some serious skins fans down here in carolina and it upsets us all when things go wrong. my friend has season tickets and we come to some of the games. i became a redskin fan in 1953 when jack scarbath (maryland) was the quarterback and my all time favorite is eddie lebaron (u.pacific). thanks for letting me be a member of this reaaly nice board.

I don't know how these coaches will get along with each other. For me, it's just a wait and see process.
Welcome to the board! :helmet:

To be honest, I don't think it was *awful*. I mean, let's put it this way: you own a team or you manage a business or whatever and you want the best people you can find to help you run it. Right? And people are telling you to promot Gregg Williams but you're not sold on the idea. So it only makes sense that you would want to look around, talk to everyone, be really thorough and make sure you get someone you really like. I mean, this decision is the future of the franchise. Don't rush it. Don't do something you don't feel good about.
Now, some might say that it's unfair for Snyder to not tell Double-G Williams what was going on. And, while I'm not privvy to exact conversations, I will say that if Snyder said nothing at all to him - then that's pretty crappy. But if he said, "Hey, Williams, you're in the running for HC. And I'd like you to hang out while I decide if I want you or not," then there's nothing wrong there. It's fair, in my mind. That's business. And it works both ways.
On a side note, I feel similarly about Fassell. Some are reporting that Fassell felt used. Well, ya know what? Just because you interview for a job doesn't mean you're going to get it. No one owes you anything. If Snyder promised him the job but it didn't pan out, then, yeah, that's pretty shady, but I don't know that this was the case. And, like I said, even if it was? What can you say? It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings. ;)
also, no one knows how this new mix of coaches will get along. i hope i am wrong on this but it looks to me dan and vinny want to run the team, a.k.a jerry jones. they got rid of the experienced coaches and now have a lot of inexperienced ones.
I wouldn't worry. It's not like we revamped our entire coaching line-up. This isn't an all-new mix. Yes, we did replace our top two coordinators and our HC. But we kept almost all of the assistant in place. On top of that, the defensive coaches all already know one another and have worked with one another for years, here in DC; our new D-coord. is someone we promoted from within. On the offensive side, we have the brand new with Zorn, but he's trying to bring in some guys he knows and has worked with to help him out - in addition to, as I said, the majority of the assistants who have been here for a while.
And we have at least a couple (I think) ex-HCs on the roster of assistants - which means experience.
if zorn is such a find, why has he been the quarterback coach for 7 years in seattle?
Good question! I guess we'll find out! ;) But I tend to think (optimistically) that he was an assistant because Seattle had a very solid staff in place and there was no room for advancement. Plus, he was getting good opportunities to learn in Seattle, so he wasn't willing to leave to work the college ranks or, and this one might be stretching it with the optimism, find better assistant positions with other teams. Again, this is just my thoughts (i.e. guesses). If Zorn is a flop, we'll know why he was "just" a QB coach for seven years. :)
But as others have repeatedly stated, there have been other QB coaches, like Andy Reid, who have moved on to the HC position when it was their time. If Zorn has what it takes, then the fact that he was only a position coach won't matter. We'll see!

Welcome aboard! 1953? Eddie Labaron? Wow!
You are very lucky to have seen those guys play!
Just some friendly advice, (I'm not the grammar police), but it's much easier on the eyes, if you use paragraphs.
I took the liberty of quoting your post, and splitting it into paragraphs, and some capitalization.
It's much easier to read that way.

Another Skins fan in Mint Hill! We seriously need to get a bunck of us and find a place to watch the games on Sundays. Sunday Ticket is a great thing but it's a lot more fun when you're out eating wings, swilling brews and cheering your team with a bunch of other crazed fans!
