Yeah, if they like him so much then how come they can't at least bring him back as Eli's QB coach. I just love how everyone knows what's best for our team without doing their homework.

Well there's the problem. He refers to him as Dan and not Mr. Snyder. Glad we dodged that bullet.

Snyder once more called upon Fassel, and after numerous conversations a match appeared imminent. Sure, Snyder spoke with candidate after candidate and, wanting to check in with Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo

does every sports writer suffer from a lack of common sense?

bubba posted these excellent points in anpother "Poor fassel" thread from the same media that was/would jump on us had we hired him.

"Newsfash

ONLY Fassel thought he was the lead candidate, and was the "source" for JLC.... no one from Redskin Park ever even hinted Fassel was the guy

1. Fassel left after his interview without an offer, and was never called back to discuss anything

2. The Skins interviewed other candidates AFTER Fassel including a second interview with Meeks

3. Meeks was the only candidate any public praise was given to by Snyder

4. Reports had the Skins called Mooch to dispute that he was out of the running when the Media crowned Fassel the winner

5. NO ONE was made an offer except Zorn

using common sense it is clear Fassel wasn't the lead candidate.

there was an article about Fassel a couple years ago, by a Giants beat reporter talking abut Fassel's huge ego, thinking all he had to do was show up, ad teams would crave him as their coach..... explains a lot about how HE THOUGHT it was his job, and why he is doing a media tour to play the surprised spurned victim, obvious to the fact it will close every door to him back to the NFL"

Wonder what this guy wrote about Fassel when they ran him out of NY on a rail?

well, Jumbo, we'll never know who was the lead candidate (GW, Fassel, Zorn), but one thing seems pretty certain: lots of verbiage was fed to us (often by JLC) that turned out to be wrong. Guesses masquerading as facts. We all know it's a tough biz: people want the latest and they want it NOW. But if you have a rumor or speculation, print it but call it what it is. And don't start spinning judgments from that.

Dan Snyder accomplished what he set out to do and that was get the best Head Coach for this franchise. The reason that Fassell wasn't offered the job was due to his ego and the fact he was fired as OC in Baltimore. He may be a good Head Coach but when you lose control of your players in NY and your offense is just that, Offensive, in Baltimore you won't get hired by too many Teams. Dan Snyder gave him an interview to see if he Fassell was still a coach to consider. When he didn't get hired before the Super Bowl that was the end of his consideration, IMO. Now he is going around saying that he was spurned and trying to make it seem like Dan Snyder and the Redskins are truly the bad people in all of this. He is just another crybaby that wanted a big payday that Dan was never going to give him. So there was never a Front runner except Gregg Williams and then it was up in the air when he was let go. JLC and all the other writers were mislead as per plan of Dan Snyder so he has the rumor mill under control and everyone around the NFL thinking he is an idiot when it comes to picking Head Coaches. They will be surprised and possibly shocked when we are in the big dance sooner than later. What is also lost in this equation is that Joe Gibbs had more than just a casual input into the process also. Maybe, just maybe Gibbs gave the thumbs down on the Fassell hire. Has anyone ever thought of that possibility?

I think fassel just wants a job that doesn’t involve making subs.

"Journalistic ethics" has been reduced to an oxymoron. This is more spew, and not even a fresh batch but just a regurgitation of the tripe others have been horking up. What a surprise.

I wrote him a note:

Dear Mr. Schwartz:

As a longtime displaced Redskins fan living in the NYC suburbs, I respectfully disagree with your critique of the Giants benefiting from the Skins’ decision not to hire Jim Fassel. So much of football is psychological and heart. To Redskins fans (among the most passionate in the NFL), Joe Gibbs represented hope, unity and a fighting chance (even if he didn’t always win games – he had some exciting streaks!) To go from Gibbs to Fassel, especially in light of Daniel Snyder’s desire to build on Coach Gibbs’ successes, would have been a huge blow to the hopes and dreams of players who thrive on a coach’s inspiration and leadership. The Redskins tradition is nothing like Big Blue – we don’t thrive on curmudgeons like Fassel and Coughlin.

Jim Zorn, though inexperienced, is someone who desires to keep much of the team’s personnel intact. His spirit (albeit occasionally misdirected, i.e. the colors mishap) is true and he represents the “young hope” to succeed Joe Gibbs. The fact that he is a league-wide respected leader and like Coach Gibbs, devoutly religious, is sure to be a source of inspiration for the players. In my (admittedly biased) opinion, we are a few acquisitions away from achieving what we won in the two immediate years after the Giants’ last Super Bowl victories: the Super Bowl trophy.

Hail to the Redskins!

Says the guy who posts those articles. For someone who seems to criticize the media as much as you do, you certainly don't have a problem scouring the net, reading them and then posting them.

Don't get me wrong. It's a great service you provide to ES, but there's a little bit of irony there.
