with all this talk about CJ getting traded here, a much easier and more likely trade is getting houshmandzadeh. we could get rid of jansen, betts, and a 2nd round pick for houshmanzadeh and a 4th rounder. IT WORKED IN MADDEN 08 PEOPLE!!! if it works there, its basically bound to work in real life.lol lets do it! houshy next to moss and randel el. that solves our WR issue. next issue please. and it gets rid of jansens contract lol jk i know this wont happen

There's absolutely no way that it would be worth giving up Jansen to get TJ. However, I actually DO think -- in all seriousness -- that we'd be better off getting TJ than getting Ocho Cinco. We already have a deep threat; what we need at WR is somebody who can work short/underneath routes, and that's exactly what TJ does. Furthermore, I seriously doubt we'd have to finagle the cap as much for TJ.

Unfortunately, this is not fantasy football. I wouldn't trade for him even on Madden. He's a good WR, but let's get real. A smart GM would be looking for those WRs who would no longer be under contract by March 3rd. I believe Larry Fitzgerald and Roy Williams will be the top two WRs in free agency. Ceratto has said the team needs a wideout, so let's see what he does. The best wideouts coming out of college will be gone be the middle of the first round. But there are always those rare gems that scouts miss.
Jon Jansen is a all pro caliber tackle. He's just had some unfortunate injuries two out of the past four seasons. Jansen has already restructured his contract anyway.

you really need to stop "thinking" out loud here
tj is imo a very good nfl wr -would be our #1
cj is a great nfl wr-
keep in mind though- i dont have any madden experiance to back me up-
when the ball is snapped 2 people cover cj and 1 covers tj- use that on how to compare the 2
no cut at tj at all- you just never choose pippen over jordan

Absolutely NOT. We don't have the game breaker / #1 WR we need. If we had a true deep threat - it wouldn't have been week 10 for a WR TD. We need an Ocho Cinco/Roy Williams/Larry Fitzgerald type.
Moss is perfect as a #2 WR - it's what he's practically built for! The short/underneath routes are for ARE with a some Cooley and Portis action. ARE needs to be used much like Welker is.
If we're able to strengthen the OL and get a #1 receiver (and the right offensive game plan)...we could be scary. :D

tgc: That was my first post on this forum, so it's strange that you're telling me to stop doing something that I haven't really started. Besides, posting WHILE thinking is certainly better than posting WITHOUT thinking. :D
tgc, AND Redskins: V_o_D: My point isn't that TJ is the best conceivable player for us; it's that he's a better fit than Johnson. There's absolutely no way we can -- or should -- get the cap room for Johnson, Fitzgerald, or Williams. If I were starting a team from scratch, I'd certainly take Johnson (or Fitzgerald or Williams) over TJ, but the reality is that: (1) we have a deep threat in Moss, (2) we need a posession guy, and (3) we have limited cap room. So when I say TJ is a better fit, I mean just that: considering the team's needs and constraints, he'd be a better use of the team's limited resources. I think that Moss is a "true" No. 1 when he's healthy, but even when he's not, I'm not sure that we really need one: as you pointed out, we also have Cooley, Portis, and ARE. Those three, Moss, and TJ are all more than capable of getting open against single coverage (or conservative zones), so we wouldn't really need a dominant guy -- the sheer number of players the defense needs to account for would make sure that somebody's going to get open.
