I just read where the Cardinals did not tender Darryl Blackstock -- they couldn't afford it because of the Larry FitzGerald contract fiasco -- which will make Blackstock a free agent on Friday.

I wonder if the Redskins would have any interest in this player, who could offer insurance in case McIntosh is not 100% in September?

Blackstock played at Virginia and was a reasonably high 3rd round draft pick. I also noticed that he had 3 sacks last year in very limited play, which is more than many Redskin players.

Do any of you Virginia carpetbaggers know anything about this player or have any of you seen him play?

I've heard he's a good pass rusher but sort of just a one trick pony. He's weak in coverage and has questionable instincts. I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in for depth but I don't see him being the guy until Rocky gets better.

He was a solid college LB and could be counted on to make more than his share of stops against the run game but is a little slow in coverage. I like the guy but he's not a starting NFL LB at this point. Good depth.

He was there for my first couple of years at UVA. More of a prototypical pass rushing OLB than a solid all-around tackling machine / cover guy / pass rusher. He put up pretty impressive sack numbers in college. I don't think he would be ready for a starting gig without some grooming.

I don't know really. If you play for the Cards and aren't a starting WR i'm really not that interested in you at this time.

I'd give him a look, if nothing else to compete, be insurance for Rocky and Marcus Washington and be a top special teamer. Those are going to be the kinds of players we're going to have to sign given our cap situation
