I've wanted to get involved with WWII re-enacting for quite some time now, and was wondering if anybody here has had any experience, and if they had any recommendations for cool societies that do this type of thing around the VA/MD area.

I dont even know how they would do a WWII reenactment. The Civil War is one thing where the armies were mostly on foot or on horseback. Hard to reenact tank engagments for fun.

as ever, nothing better to do, so I found this.....
8th Inf Div (http://www.shadows8thinfww2.org/index.html)
apparently in your area
also....you can be the bad guys!
10th SS Panzer!!!! (http://www.frundsberg.org/main.htm)
(they have a clear statement that they are a historical society and not some crazy bunch of neo-nazis!). Dont know if they have any Tiger Mark IV 's, which would be fun!

There were a bunch of guys around here who formed a Kamikaze re-enactment troupe, but I think they only had one meeting.

Wow, that would be pretty awesome to do. I haven't heard of WWII re-enactments before but I imagine it would be pretty awesome to see as well as be a part of. Thanks for the links.

There's gotta be a group somewhere around here.

Not every engagement involved tanks.
However, there are some people who are crazy enough to recreate the AFVs of the period :D

In response to Comrade's question....
I do MEDIEVAL re-enactment stuff and have for well over a decade now. I've seen Rev War, Civil War, WWII and Vietnam re-enactment or living history groups popping up all over the place here in New England over the years.
