I go to school here and there are some real good spots to eat. Merts Soul Food restaurant, Champions Sports Bar (delicious) Mortons Steakhouse. All in the city.

My favorite place when I lived in that area was Frankie's Italian Grille. It's great if you're in the mood for italian and enjoy Sinatra's standards playing in the background. :)

Did Rock Bottom close as well? I know it was in the heart of downtown near an art gallery. Just curious.....

No trip to Charlotte is complete without a stop at Price's Chicken Coop. There's no tables to sit at, but go buy a box and enjoy fried chicken heaven for a bit.

Are you going to have a car ? Only 2 places I go for ribs.

Sticky fingers has 2 locations in/around Charlotte that I know of, their pulled pork is great, their ribs are pretty good but smaller and they leave the membrane on which is unusual.

Smokey Bones is in the University area, right off Harris Blvd. Best ribs in town for my money. Never had the pulled pork there but friends have told me it's good. The cornbread is awesome too.

Preach on, that place is great. I hate that they close so early (6) and are closed on Mondays though. Monday is typically my BS day and I went anticipating getting my grub on. Sucks. haha. I think it may be considered a Charlotte landmark. Although I have only ever had chicken there it is so much better than all of the chain places down here. I miss Popeyes. :(

There is Cheesecake, Maggianos, and a PF Changs (not at the mall) in South Park.
Downtown... you can go Brixx which is pretty similar to CPK without the tacky decor, McCormick and Schmick's, Vinnie's Seafood which is pretty much downtown (all you can eat Crabs on Mondays, steamed shrimp on Tuesdays), Rock Bottom, Fox and Hound...everything else is pretty much upscale or fast food.

I live in the University area and I recommend the Flying Saucer. They have over 300 kinds of beer.
Sticky Fingers and Lil' Dewey's both have good BBQ on Concord Mills Blvd.
Franky's and Prices Chicken are both top notch.

I have heard that The Palm is a good place, but pricey. Yea if you are looking for a casual place with GREAT beer check out the Flying Saucer, I go to the one in Raleigh and it is AWESOME!!

Cookout is also BANGIN!!!!!
Cheap food too. It's a drive up fast food joint though.
Arpas is nice, so is Blue.
Blue is probably the nicest restaurant in downtown Charlotte. It's expensive but worth it.

I was just getting ready to say something about Mac's. That is probably my favorite place to eat in Charlotte. Great BBQ and good beer prices. Good atmosphere too. I probably end up there once a week.

I probably end up there once a week. Now that it's getting warmer outside I plan on hitting it up hardcore during lunch. That place is so booming you have to almost eat lunch at 11:00am or 2:00 pm to even get a seat.
