Healthy Clark sets sights on return to Steelers

Steelers FS Ryan Clark lost 30 pounds after having his spleen removed last season.

Clark was misdiagnosed with a spleen contusion when a sickle-cell trait that affected him in Denver's high altitude was really the problem. The Steelers don't appear to be counting on an impact from Clark in 2008, but he says he's healthy. He's currently ahead of Anthony Smith on the depth chart.

I don't think he'll be playing again. It's one thing to be a qb without a spleen, but quite another to be a db without a spleen.

Glad that he's well, though.

That's bull****. Whoever misdiagnosed him and had his spleen removed should have their license checked.

The 5-foot-11 Clark is still around 10 pounds shy of the weight he played at last season. But, Clark said, he is at full strength and has no doubt that he'll get back to the 205-pound range the Steelers coaches want him at for the upcoming season.

I wish Pied Piper Piccalo (hope you remember the reference) the best and can get back out on the field one day.

That's pretty terrible. I'm glad the moderately high salary and (hopefully) malpractice suits will be able to keep him living the very comfortable life he probably has now, because it's going to be rough for him to really play again. Upward fight for him. Wish him all the best.
