Is he still the closer of the future? Or are the Orioles done with him?

The Baltimore Orioles on Saturday placed six players, including former closer Chris Ray, on the 15-day disabled list.
All six of the moves were retroactive to March 21, enabling each player to be reinstated on April 5.
Having notched 49 saves over the previous two seasons, Ray remains sidelined after undergoing "Tommy John" surgery on his right elbow last August.
Also placed on the DL were righthanders Danys Baez, Fernando Cabrera and Jim Hoey, lefthander Troy Patton and infielder-outfielder Freddie Bynum.
Signed to a three-year deal in November 2006 to set up for Ray, Baez also is working his way back from elbow surgery, suffering the injury last September. He is not expected to pitch this season.
In other moves, the Orioles announced that outfielder Tike Redman accepted an assignment to Class AAA Norfolk of the International League. He hit .318 in 40 games with Baltimore last year.

He's only 26 so I assume they'll give him a chance when he gets healthy

Ray will try to make it back in August, though it seems doubtful that he'll resume picking up saves before 2009.

He pretty much wasn't healthy all of last year. Hopefully he can get some innings in at the end of this year to build confidence in 09. Sherill's the closer now to pump up his trade value, and I doubt he'll be here long term.
