View Full Version : Horrible Ref Calls (Non calls)

Unbelievable. I thought we were over the BS calls like the one that gave Richards a penalty shot in Game two.

Philthy got the break of their season on the non-call for interference on Huet. Why the coaches don't yell at the refs like they do in football I do not know.

Refs are not supposed to change the outcome of games. The Caps are getting screwed in this series plain and simple. I don't have any idea how they are making calls here.

Federov gets mugged in the third no call. Ovechkin next no call. Boooooooooooo!

I hope they get cancer and die. Well... not that, but I hope they get herpes.

That non-call on the Goalie interference was obscene. NHL has to see when you make obvious bad calls that determine the outcome of a teams entire season, game 7 of a hard fought series, it makes the league look like a joke. There needs to be some type of review that the coach can call for, and some kind of repercussions to the refs when they miss a call that is so obvious.

You people sound like Flyers fans complaining about the refs.

For a city that tries to be tough, Flyers fans are some of the most crybaby "the refs blew it" fans of all time. It's freaking pathetic.

Montreal will destroy them.

League ruling was that Morrison "had control of the puck" so it was a legal check. Such a huge gray area.

Wow. Actually - you guys sound worse. And don't count the Fyers out of this series yet. Everyone said the Caps were going to run the Flyers off the ice in this series. I saw one guy pick the Flyers. It will be a nasty series in Montreal but Briere will have another HUGE series.

Spend any time with Flyers fans and you will know what I mean.

Eagles fans...no. They won't really complain about officiating. Flayers fans? It's a friggin disgrace. Conspiracy theories abound.

It wasn't a penalty, plain and simple. It should I guess have been an incidental contact and have a faceoff and the goal not allowed but that's what they called. The Caps had their share of non calls. How about in game 5 I think it was where one of the Caps defenseman checked (slammed) one of the Flyers into Huet and he was called for goaltender interference. That was a horrible call but I liked it at the time.

i'll accept that it wasn't interference, but why not incidental contact like what they called on us late in the season.

I was there, I was even with the goal line and had a great view of it. The goal should have been wiped out plain and simple. I watched one of the linesmen look at the replay and he shook his head in disbelief. That game last night was a crime. It was not called evenly. That being said, the chances were there and when the puck needed to bounce the caps way it didn't when it needed to bounce the Flyers way it did. That is how Game 7 goes. Great season, great fight and drive. This team should be playing for the cup 13 months from now.

I was there in the game too... That goal shouldn't have happened. That was undoubtedly a crucial turning point of the game. But it wasn't only that play, but there were plenty of penalties called against us that shouldn't have been and there were plenty that weren't called against the Flyers. The NHL should probably take a close look at how this game was officiated, and if something isn't done there would be no justice.

Not to mention, last night's officiating probably cost the league a lot of money because they didn't really give a chance for the Crosby vs Ovechkin matchup to happen by calling the game so one-sided. Hope they realize that...

Called the game in sided?? Cost the league money by not letting AO play against Crosby?? Are you listening to youself?? I think Crisby going to NY is a story in itself and the Flyers have GREAT young talent also. Sheesh.. And as far as calling things one sided, check out these stats:

Total goals - PHI 23 WAS 20
PP Goals - PHI 8 WAS 8
SH Goals - PHI 0 WAS 0
Penalty Mins- PHI 87 WAS 85

Doesn't look one sided to me.

Philly was one of the more penalized teams this regular season. Not so in the playoffs. I'm not crying about the friggin penalties, but it's not like the team all the sudden started playing clean.

Koharsky is a Caps killer. The Caps know that and they should be aware of the way he calls games. As for the ref shaking his head in disbelief maybe he's thinking it should be in the rulebook but if they determine the defenseman has possession of the puck he can be checked. Unfortunately he got checked into Huet. I don't like it either but it's over now. The Caps had plenty of opportunities to put that game away. Next year they won't make the mistakes they did this series,or they shouldn't.

Is it football season yet? Oh wait we still have to suffer through the Wizards losing. I am a fan of the Wiz but I'm not holding my breath with them. I do have Nascar to fall back on:applause: ROCK THE RED, we'll git 'em next year. Peace.

Yeah, as a Caps fan, this sounds like alot of whining. So the calls didn't go our way. Nothing you can do about it. Maybe if we had've played better in games 3,4 and 5 we wouldn't have had to rely on game 7 calls. And as far as the Ovie vs. Sidney matchup, let's leave game fixing to the NBA. They love the Kobe vs. Duncan headlines. I'd rather have Caps vs. Pens. No excuses. We lost, it's over and it was a better season than alot of people anticipated. Anyone here think we would win the division? Bonus.

Holy crap guys Morrison had control of the puck, it's no gray area, he's responsible for himself if he has puck contact, the goal was clean I was shocked at the lack of knowledge in the stands geesh. The Caps were lucky it wasn't a 5 on 3 in overtime, the refs let the first tripping go, the second on 30 sec. later was just stupid and they paid for it. It was just nonsense that poti complained about the call after the game.

The fans were Classless, worse then philly fans can be. Throwing trash on the ice, and one fan hit Jeff Carter in the head with a bottle. Holy Crap I can't bag on philly fans anymore cause the D.C. fan base is worse then them, stupidity at it's finest.

I am with the guys who reported back from the game who actually saw the play. Guy did not have posession. They need to have reviews for things like this in Hockey. Calling back goals is pretty serious.

Koharsky is a Caps killer.

Koharsky has a long list of bad officiating calls in the NHL. He actually had a character in 1992's Wayne's World named after him. The donut shop owner... in reference to when the Devil's coach told him to go eat another donut. He loves the Flyers, hates Dale Hunter and Sergei Federov's Red Wings. Makes more sense now. Fat bastard.

I think it was fairly clear that the game last night was extremely poorly called, but we had as much of a chance as the Flyers in OT and couldn't pull it out. It's a shame that the season had to end on such an unsatisfying game, but the season was a great one and I think we have a lot to look forward to these next few years. Don't get too bummed.
