Is the Redskin front office higher on Lorenzo Austin, Kili Lefotu and Chris Wilson than the fan base?

Seriously?

Is this really a thread?

Lefotu got cut.

And it's Lorenzo Alexander.

Plus we got a versatile 3rd round offensive lineman.

There are plenty of other threads based on the draft, this needs to get deleted.

Is this going to be another 1 star thread?

They missed out on selecting the desired D-Linemen apparently, this has been discussed in some other threads in the last day or so. They took the best players needed and so now we have to wait till OTA's and Mini camps and hope they were right. They did bring in a few undrafted Line men so hopefully one of those guys might pan out.

Blache is the same as Williams remember (he builds his D from the Corners not the Dline) with his defensive philosophy and it was his decision (as per Vinny) for them to select someone other than a defensive lineman at the respective picks.

Just thought I should bring you up to speed on the latest of whats been discussed here.

I like Wilson's potential so I am high on him. Not sure who this Lorenzo Austin person you speak of

I have a question, can our fan base get the spellings correct before posting? I mean it isn't that hard to get to redskin.com to find out.

Ok, read carefully.

They drafted an offensive lineman who they believe can help right away. Maybe he can even take the starting LG job from Kendall. If not, he'll back up. They're converting Lorenzo Alexander to guard full-time, and they feel ok with him and Fabini backing up inside. They are also okay with Wade and Heyer backing up at tackle.

On defense, they believe Phil Daniels has another year left in the tank. Our DL coach also coached Calais Campbell in college, and he seems to think Demetric Evans is good enough for spot duty at DE. They like Wilson as a part-time edge rusher. They hope our 7th round pick at DE or one of our UFA's can help out as well.

I think Zorn watched a bunch of film from our games. He also saw us in person, three times, including two playoff games in which our defense played pretty well but we simply could not sustain enough drives and score enough points to be a real contender.

He turned off his DVD player and said "our defense is pretty good, but what's with all the 16-13 games? Let's bring some new firepower in, junk the high school offense and start scoring some dang points around here."

Otherwise I agree -- I'm not nearly as high on Lorenzo Austin as they are.

I think our Oline depth is pretty good you have to remember Thomas and Jansen went down pretty early and we still made the playoffs plus we were able to get some other players some time. Having a young up and comer at Tackle in Heyer and now with are 3rd pick at guard shows that we at have now quality depth. We stil have Golston and Motgomery at DT there only 3rd year players Andre Carter had 10.5 sacks last yr and we have chis wilson to rotate with Daniels. If we can get some more players in the draft next yr or a free agent on the line we will begin to make the transition on our lines.

Well, for starters, I am high on Chris Wilson, I think he'll be good. Secondly, Chad Rinehart was drafted in the 3rd round. 1 or 2 new lineman each year should keep us pretty fresh.

As for D-Line, what, you're not high on Rob Jackson?

This thread needs to be stickied because of Lorenzo Austin. That's classic.

If you payed attention AT ALL you would notice that we drafted an O-lineman in the third round as well as a DE or two in the late rounds which is where we got both Golston and Montgomery who are both solid.

Unless of course you think that unless a linemen is picked in the first day he is useless?:doh::doh:

Probably shouldn't have pressed the "post new thread" button on this one.

I mean did everyone think we were going to draft potential starters on both sides of the ball in case someone went down?

Let's remember that, when healthy, we have one of the best lines in football. The Rhinehart part is only going to solidify that depth, as well as Heyer who also performed admirably.

I'd have loved for us to get a DT, but it wasn't like our defense was bad with the exact same players we had. Next year, I would think it would be a defensive-minded draft where we do what we did this year and stock pile DTs and DEs..
