So someone had to do it. Usually it wouldn't be me. I was looking for some projections on the current rookie class and found a mock for 2009.

19. Washington Redskins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=was) -- Greg Hardy*, DE, Mississippi

Hardy is flying under the radar right now despite notching 10 solo sacks the past two seasons, and the Redskins will be looking for a young pass-rushing threat after failing to land one during the latest draft.

He also has Tim Tebow coming out early and going #7 to Chicago.

A Dallas/Pats Superbowl?

That would be unfortunate...

I'd hope we wouldn't pass on Jackson. McShays says he's better suited for a 3-4 but I would mind a 290LB DE that can get to the QB at all.

Though, who am I kidding, we won't take a DL in the 1st.

It will be interesting to see how he is used when he goes pro. He has been ridiculous in college. I know Florida has used him in the running game a lot because they have been lacking an impact RB.

A couple guys at LSU to keep an eye on for our DL are Tyson Jackson and Ricky Jean-Francois. Both should have huge years next year.

Crabtree looks like this year's Jordy Nelson meets Limas Sweed with Devin Thomas blened somewhere.

Not saying we have a need for him at all, but just saying, he's going to be great.

I'd rather go best Offensive Lineman in the draft with our first pick unless there is a can't miss DE in the draft. Doesn't look like it.

That guy was unstoppable last year. Everytime that I watched him, he was catching everything. It didn't matter the level of opponent.

I have a feeling that a number of DE will reach the status of can't miss by the end of next year. Like I mentioned, if Tyson Jackson can play to his potential, he will be one of them.

I wouldn't look too much at how the DE are placed in this mock draft. It will be completely different closer to next years draft.

Yeah i went to Landstown. Percy is gonna be really good, im sure he'll be used similiar to a Steve Smith.

Another guy i really want is Alex Mack a center from Cal. I know center isnt a premium position, but i play center in college and hes the best center i have seen at the college level. Def. a future pro bowler.

Have you guys checked out Taylor Mays..! Plays safety for USC.

He's listed now at 6ft 4" and about 225. He's a beast.

I've got to ask, since you went to school with him. I've heard that Harvin was a bit of a problem child in high school, mouthing off to teachers, referees, etc. and got away with it because he was the star athlete. Is this true? Guys like that always make me think twice about whether we want them, if only because I can't see them adjusting well in the pros (for at least the first few years) when they're suddenly on the lowest rung of the ladder.

Just curious.

Um, not. Check your Redskins history. It's been well over a decade since the Redskins have drafted a D-lineman in the first four rounds, let alone the first round. Its not gonna happen. We only draft D-linemen in rounds five through seven. Lets just hope its not gonna be a Wide Receiver...

i dont think any of the analysts actually know we only pick late round d-line. cuz last year we were taking gaines adams in early mocks, this year. campbell or merling. next year the DE...and theyve never been right.

We need to go with a linebacker next year. James Laurinitus.

It will be nice having another draft with a good allotment of picks. The lack of draft picks in the Gibbs era really had hurt us depth wise and I think filling the holes we have now and the holes we'll have next year will be a 2-3 year process. Hopefully with the addition of young players like Landry, Heyer, Blades, C. Wilson, and the 10 picks from this draft we're off to a good start.

Next year I think we're going to be looking for D-Line (Possibly two players), Linebacker (Eventual replacement for Washington), O-Line (Continue to get younger, possibly a tackle if Reinhart and an UDFA emerge at tackle), and Corner help.

rey mauluga mlb from usc or the usc safety taylor mays- kyle moore usc's de may be underrated so far- imo he is first round talent

if both of the recievers this year work out and either are or moss are sent out- i say the 3rd reciever of the future could be pat white, west viginia's qb

this is early for draft talk, but coming onto this thread to complain is absolutly stupid- you dont have to read a thread you dont want to- many of us enjoy the draft talk period- its not like we are making individual taylor mays or rey rey mauluga threads, its one thread looking foreward

i am interested in seeing what tyson jackson does at lsu this year. this year will tell us whether he is a stud in the making or if he was just a byproduct of glenn dorsey dominating.

personally i hope that the defense gets as much attention paid to it as the offense did in this draft. going into next years draft i think we are going to need a defensive end to take daniels place, a defensive tackle to take griffins place, a couple of linebackers for washingtons replacement and as an insurance policy if mcintoshs knees prove to be his undoing, and finally i think we are going to need a corner to take springs place and to also be an insurance policy for rogers knee injury as well.

So are Santana Moss and Steve Smith - you dont have to be 6'4" to play in the NFL.

I agree with this analysis. I do think though that we will address at least one of the D'line spots next year via free agency - probably DT as its harder to find those 1 gap DT's unless you are drafting very high which we all hope will not be the case.

I know you made this statement yesterday but I just had to say something.

Oh my gosh that would be the worst thing ever. Wow :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad: just wow.

But now that I calmed down and actually thought about it for a second. That was pretty much almost what happened this past Super Bowl. A division rivial vs the Cheatriots. I guess I just hate Dallas that much more than New York.

Anyway, I hope we pick 32nd in the 1st round next year. I think that pick would make me the happiest.

He is going to be surrounded by a bunch of stud DTs again this year. The one thing that I worry about Tyson Jackson is he had some stupid penalties for LSU. The talent is definitely there.

I made my first thread last year with a link to a list of post-draft mocks. They had us picking Calais Campbell with the 1st overall pick in at least one of them. Most had us picking at around the 5 spot.

Here's a link to the thread, but the old Mocks are gone from the link.

Every year they say we are going to take a defensive lineman.....every year we dont......I dont see next year breaking that trend.....

I think after our secondary gets shredded this year.....(because of lack of pass rush) we will go out and get a corner, or a safety.

With the 32nd pick in the 2009 pick the redskins pick.....oh who gives a f**k we won the superbowl!
