Seriously. Even if we got the spot to ourselves I'm sure there wouldn't be much said of any interest. I'm not sure how this Field Pass thing goes, but I imagine we'll hear some BS about how we aren't expected to compete in the NFC East, new coach is still getting the hang of things, with a little tidbit about our new receivers thrown in..I'm betting on crap, but thanks for the headsup OP!!

i predict they'll give us a record of 7-9 for the 2008 season...

Developing rookies, out of the market for CJ
Fred Davis will help stretch the field
Kiper likes Thomas and Kelly. Fred Davis "complementary"
Still have D-line need. Durant Brooks gives Frost competition. B+ for draft from Kiper.
O-line old, D-line unproven with two old vets.
Secondary-Springs old, Rogers hurt
Prediction: No continuity...8-8
I hate Mark Schlereth.

summery:
talked about how old the offensive line is, how not so talented the d line was and how the CB position was questionable with Springs getting old and Rogers hurt.
They liked the draft picks, Kiper gave us a B+, talked about how Davis and Cooley will be a great combo. Predicted us to be 8-8.

dude whatever schlereth no continuity...complete turnover???!! We're going out with the same defensive strategy and a coach who had an important role in the D's of the past. Do your research. I understand Zorn's the wildcard, but how about mentioning the continuity of THE PLAYERS, the ones who play the game, and the same ones who made the playoffs last year. Hater.
A record of 9-7 while flirting with the playoffs would be a better prediction IMO.

THANK YOU about Schlereth....he never says anything good about the skins except for when Joe Gibbs came back in his first year and predicted 9-7 year and playoffs.....well good job Mark we went 6-10

Seriously
I don't even think the guy is a great analyst to be honest but its infurating how much he hates on the Skins. I remember reading a piece by him about how Gibbs should kick Sean Taylor off the team following the ATV incident. He talked about how Gibbs was getting soft and he would have never let something like that happen back in the day.

no continuity????
is he high?
we have virtually the same team and coaching staff! wtf?? he doesn't even bother to learn about the skins before he reports on them! i hope bram sets him straight.
and if we do have a tough season next year it's because we play in the freakin' NFC EAST - THE TOUGHEST IN THE NFL!!

Schlerreth's "no continuity" comment sounded really strange, as if he was faulting Snyder and the Skins for not hiring Gregg Williams...because that must be what he was referring to. He could have easily have said "The Skins have a new head coach who's still an unknown quantity, so for now expect the Skins to go 8-8". But to simply say we have a new head coach doesn't sound critical enough of Snyder...saying "no continuity" gets to dredge up Snyder's coaching moves in between 2000-2002, and act like he's at it again by hiring Zorn.

You do realize that's only one win difference, right? Why do you guys hang on so tightly to what these guys say anyway?

Yes I do, but do you realize the importance of one win in the NFL? Especially when that win is going to take you from 8-8 (an "eehhh" kind of season) to 9-7 (a winning season). Not to mention that 8-8 will damn near guarentee us no shot at the playoffs while we could sneak in at 9-7 (see last year).
Sclereth is saying we have no shot at the playoffs, I am saying we do, so theres your difference.
And fyi i don't hang on what these guys say, but hell, it's the offseason, we need all the conversation starters as we can get.

Here's the thing, we hear on the TV:
The Redskins will be 8-8 and have the potential to be better or worse depending on who steps up
What they're really saying:
I have no idea what's going to happen next year... So 8-8 sounds like an ok prediction because I'll probably be just a few games off either way.
So now we don't have to worry about what he says :D

:yawnee:
I think the offense will only get better once everyone picks up the playbook. 8-8 or 9-7 isn't that bad. Our schedule is a little easier than it was before, and we were in most games until the end minus the debacle in Foxboro...
But eh, opinions are like (_(_| holes...And we all know what Schlereth is...lol

He is still very bitter over the skins cutting him when Norv was the coach here. He had some disease or condition that Casserly and Norv thought wouldn't ever improve, so they cut him. He then went on to Denver and won 2 more Super Bowls. He doesn't consider himself a Redskin and he doesn't feel any loyalty to the organization, only to the guys he played with and that one Coach(Joe Gibbs) that he played for.

Well, Zorn is an "unkown" quantity therefore it will be hard to scheme against him early.
It's not a certainty he will "copy" the Hawks offense.

Guess that makes sense, a damn shame too...
...I would have thought he would have gotten closer to the organization after ST's death, what he said on Mike and Mike in the Morning was really well put.
Sigh, can't win them all I guess.

Gee - there's only one win difference between a stupid Schlereth prediction and one that you think is reasonable? The D line is older. The OL has been beset by injuries. The CBs are often injured. The starting OLB is coming off a serious injury. New offense and new HC. A prediction of 8:8 is reasonable but predictions mean nothing.

See my post around the top of this page to see how I feel about that one win difference.
Look it boils down to Schereth's opinion: dismissing us from playoff contention (and saying the EAGLES will leapfrog us and wind up in the playoffs  )versus my opinion - another year of fighting for the last spot until the very last minutes of the regular season. Whatever the numerical value, those are two different animals when it comes to predictions :2cents:.

Why is it everytime we hear a prediction this early in the season it isn't good enough for all the fans here on ES? Why is it that we expect "loyalty" from a former Redskin player turned media personality? Why is it that when said media person is anything less than a blind Redskin "homer" and may actually be attempting objectivity he is labeled a "hater"? Why is it that all media people, according to many on this site, are "haters" if they call for anything less than a superbowl for the Skins year in and year out? And last but not least, why do these people who dislike these media people so much for being Redskin "haters" take so much time out of their lives to listen giving these "haters" the ability to ruin their collective days? And no, I am not a fan of Mark Schlereth. I'm just curious....
8-8 means we are average. I'd say it is a fair assesment entering mini-camp.
- We have question marks at CB because of age(Springs) and health(Carlos).
- We do have an "above-average" aged OLine, who plays well when together but has been injury prone recently.(How many backups played last year?)
- We do have some difficulty getting pressure via our front 4 without blitzes.(obvious and not debatable)
- The Cowgirls played well last year, lost little and gained a few nice offseason players. Err..
- The Giants just won the SB wether you care to remember that or not. I tend to try and forget, personally. :puke:
- The Eagles still have McNabb and Westbrook and when healthy can be a problem for most NFC teams, including the Redskins.
- We do have a new head coach who has never even been a coordinator.
Oh yeah...only a complete "hater" whould predict anything less than 16-0 and us winning the division.

Not to mention I think our defence will be even less attacking then it was before. I dont think it's a terrible asessment.

This isn't a call out to you and your post, but it just dawned on me when I read it. I find it real bad as a Redskin fan to see my fellow fans rave about a 9-7 season. Back in the 80's, anything below 10-6 was a failure. There are a lot of low expectations by our fans. Who wants to sneak in to the playoffs every year? I want 11 wins or I'd rather not go to the playoffs. I've just set my standars a little higher than most. If we finish 8-8 or 9-7, I'd rather us just suck again at 5-11 and continue to rebuild the team with more draft picks. Now, I DON'T WANT us to go 5-11, but constantly hovering above .500 is....well....something the Wizards do. I want us to be contender every year. I want us to compete. I don't want to just keep our heads above water. 9-7 won't cut it for me this year. It will mean yet another road playoff game and yet another first round defeat.
