Don't go too Cowboys crazy
Bring in Denny Green, because apparently everyone is ready to crown the Cowboys. The latest wave of adulation for the 'Boys comes on the tails of news that they re-signed Terrell Owens and Pacman Jones is partially reinstated.
T.O. is an outstanding player and the Cowboys are definitely a weaker team without him. But don't get too excited about his four-year, $34 million contract. How many playoff games has Owens won in Dallas? (zero) How old is he? (35) How often has he been hurt? (often). How emotional is he? (postgame tears).
The recent drying up of the receiver free-agent pool might have given the Cowboys little choice but to extend Owens. But there's still a lot of risk. At his age, he's not going to get less injury prone. And how many times have we seen players sign big contracts and subsequently get hurt.
Several writers have speculated this contract extension is insurance to make sure he doesn't get upset with the team. To even suggest that points to Owens' capricious nature. Although he's behaved fine in Dallas - except for run-ins with Bill Parcells, his vitamin overdoes and an ill-timed Jessica Simpson joke - his fiery days in Philadelphia aren't that far behind him. That was only three years ago. I have trouble believing players arrive in Dallas and completely transform themselves just by wearing the star. Which brings us to ...
Deion Sanders II. That's what Pacman Jones better be to justify all the headlines he's gotten. Finding the chemistry to win a Super Bowl is an elusive assignment, which seems to have a lot more to it than just talent. Whatever the perfect mix is, Pacman doesn't move the Cowboys in the right direction.
Dallas is a good team. But stop the offseason coronation. Where's the skepticism? This is T.O. and Pacman we're talking about. And I haven't even gotten to Wade Phillips or the loss of Tony Sparano. Not to mention the brutal NFC East.

I think people are making too big a deal about some of this stuff. The Owens four year signing isn't that bad. I don't think they should have acquired pacman jones cause they don't really need him. The only thing the cowboys should really worried about is the lost of Sparano and very high expectations.

Cute but logically what does a particular team winning a playoff game in say, 2003 have to do with THIS YEARS projections? Nobody should give Dallas worse than a top 5 ranking looking at them objectively in terms of talent, additions, losses, health, draft etc. Further, a top 5 ranking has little to do with being crowned champs.
The Giants proved that past failures don't necessarily project from year to year. Eli started his playoff career 0-2. Denver went 13-3 and had the #1 seed in '97 I believe only to lose to Brunnell and the Jags in the first round. They went on to win the next two Super Bowls.

Logic or pure hatred? What else are you going to say? We've struggled late in the year of late but a lot of teams/players face and overcome challenges. Do you logically believe that we'll never win another playoff game ever? Actually, don't answer that. :silly:

Oh, Get off it man! I give you proof and you spun it harder than a Dreidel. The media thinks the Cowboys are America's sweethearts! The rest of the league treats them like America's jiz rag in Playoff games. There is some strange fixation with the Cowboys and you are either blind, stupid, or spinning it to not look like an ass if you claim not to see it. I would vote for all three, but seeing as how this is a welcoming message board....

Here is some more Cowboys Love from the World Wide Leader in Bias (Sportsline, ESPN, ABC.) We must be Republican, because Fox is the only one that shows us any love.
It so funny to me to read his description of the Redskins O-Line and how he says they are solid as hell, then ranks them 16th. Maybe he is getting a little guidance from Conn..

Dude, you go to a Cowboys site and the media hates us, Godelle hates us. It's the same with every fan base. You choose to see what you want to see. I see PLENTY of analyst picking apart the Cowboys in certain areas with doubts that we can get it done in Dec/January. Dallas has been in the news plenty (although not all good) and we've been getting some hype. I'm not disputing this. I just don't there are as many "crowning us champs" as led to believe. That's my point all along.

One line of spin is not better or worse than any other. For months, several rival fans have spun gloom and doom about the Cowboys without any real offseason evidence of anything. Entertaining as some of it is, most of it amounts to spin.
So, my advice to those rival fans who loathe the Cowboys and find all of the Cowboys media love gut-wrenching...take a look at your own spin for a change and stop whining about the spin of others. :2cents:

Such as Romo, a QB who threw for 4,211 yards and 36 yards, being an average QB? Or a backup RB who ran for 975 yards being vastly overrated. Or how about the "inevitable time-bomb" T.O. signing an extension? Yeah, great fact-finding and execution of logic  .

There were several Redskins that went along and even added to your plethra of gloom and doom spins about the Cowboys. So, yes they should share in such criticisms if they are warranted.
And again, I don't have any problem with rival fans not going along with the (seeming) Cowboys love in the media right now. I merely pointed out the hypocricy of griping about media spin when a lot of it goes on right here.

They are considered early favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIII.

There are plenty of people that feel the Boys are favorites to reach the SB but to use that quote as proof Esiason thinks the Boys will be in the SB is beyond even a stretch.
Beyond the obvious of listing 3 teams, this isn't necessarily even a prediction of who will be going to the SB. I would say there are quite a few skin's fans that would agree Dallas is among the 3 best NFC teams but would not say they are going to be the NFC rep in the SB. Something about no doing well (choking) come playoff time.

Some very important fact that you left out of your spin:
Romo tied for 2nd in the NFL in interceptions with 19!
Marion Barber got 204 carries and Julius Jones got 164... Who is the backup again? With your logic, Ladell Betts is better than Marion Barber because of his good season when Portis got hurt.
T.O. is on a comeback soon! Did you not hear the interview where he slams Parcells the other day? He can't stand being out the limelight long.... I will admit that his behavior has been exemplary! However, with the addition of Q-bert and the focus off him, he will start to act up. If Romo starts to mess up and can't get the ball to him as opposed to the other team, you best believe that you will hear less crying for Romo and more bashing of him.

Pacman participated in PRACTICE for the first time yesterday and ESPN had BREAKING NEWS that he returned an INT 80 yds for a TD. EVEN THOUGH IT WASN't FULL CONTACT 11 on 11 DRILLS! No one was going to tackle him...
When was the last time you heard of a player returning a practice INT 80 yds for a TD on the BREAKING NEWS scroll on ESPN? Please answer.
Adam Schefter has proclaimed the Cowboys as the most talented team in the NFL and is "indisputable". Ignoring an 18-1 Patriots team and the Chargers.
They are favored to win the Division. They are favored to be the #1 seed in the NFC. They are favored to represent the NFC in the SB.
Those are facts. They have been supported with links. Deny and spin all you want. 12 of the Cowboys 16 reg season games are slotted as National games this year. 75%! If that ain't on your jock, what is?

I agree the trend of being 1-5 w/in the division isn't very impressive.
Come on, if being 4-2 w/in the division is lousy then being 1-5 w/in your 4 of the last 6 yrs division should be more more negative than "isn't very impressive".

Who's crowning Dallas champs? Everywhere I turn I hear caution and warning that Dallas must play better in December and of course in the postseason.
There are those who err on the side of caution. However, there are many more that have the Cowfags in the Super Bowl as the NFC rep.
Only time will tell...

The author who wrote this blog predicted on April 29th, that the Cowboys would represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. He's telling everyone to stop the coronation that he is taking part in.
I think that he's jealous and wants to be the one to say "I said it first! The Cowboys are the best!"

Oh he'll be the first...to be wrong :D

The Cowboys have an NFL record 32 playoff wins. Thanks for asking.
