Time for some humility on this board. So let's see it. Who is man enough (or woman enough in some cases) to admit they have been wrong in the past on here?

I'll start it off obviously:

1) In '06 said we were playoff bound
2) Thought we would draft DE with 1st rounder in '06
3) Made a bet about our team that resulted in a "board beyotch" avatar for a month
4) Thought Lloyd would be a good pick-up

I made a bet with a fellow friend of mine that JC would have a better TD to int. ratio. then Romo also that Moss would have another 1300-1500 yard season and make the pro bowl again...

In 1981 I wrote a letter to the Skins front office demanding that this loser Joe Gibbs who had us at 0-5 be fired immediately, and that he'd never amount to much of a coach............... :jk:

Seriously, I didn't see much chance in hell in 2005 of us putting together a playoff run after the OT loss to the Chargers. There's a poster skinsfan1010 who has a blog in which he kept insisting that things were going to shake out fine and I pretty much just laughed. Well..............

After ST's death and the Buffalo double-timeout fiasco, I didn't see us getting there this past year either.

I thought Ramsey would turn out to be a solid starting QB...

I thought Gibbs would never retire before his 5 year contract was up...

I thought Brunell was gonna suck huge in 2005...

I thought the Skins were gonna do some damage in the playoffs at the beginning of the 2000 season...

I thought Lenny P was just blowing smoke out of his ass when he said we were gonna draft Jason Campbell a week before the draft...

I thought Antonio Pierce would not be missed very much...

I thought Rod Gardner would go on to have a decent career after he left here...

I thought Archuletta would go on to have a decent career after he left here...

I thought bringing Al Saunders on board would cause our offense to explode...

When we added Randle El and Lloyd at receiver and Saunders as our offensive coordinator, I thought we were going to have the "Greatest Show on Grass" or whatever, with Clinton Portis putting up Marshall Faulk like numbers.

I truly believed that Jason was going to have a Pro Bowl/Breakout year in '07. While he had a decent first year, fact is I set the bar way too high.

After our debacle in '06, I thought the guy we should've been gunning for was Jamal Anderson, and while I didn't mind us picking Landry, I was a bit upset we didn't choose Anderson. One year later ...

I didn't think a playoff run was even conceivable after our display in the Buffalo game following Sean's death. While I was proven wrong, that game still hurts to this day ... :(

I thought Romo was going to regress and prove to be a one year wonder. Meh, he still sucks anyway ...

By this point in time, I thought that Matt Leinart was going to be an absolute stud in the NFL, while Jay Cutler would turn out to be a Patrick Ramsey clone. Eh so far ...

That's all I got so far, my brain's pretty dead right now ...

Add me to the Arch Club. I almost bought an Archuleta authentic jersey.

I remember emailing a video to all my family- the video where AA is flinging dumbbells up in the air with his fingertips, and bouncing up off the ground during push-ups and landing the opposite direction. None of that seemed to come in handy for the personal punt protector.

At least I bought the Cooley jersey instead of what could have been, the worst jersey purchase EVER.

2. I thought Betts was going to the pro bowl last season.

chiefhogskin48 should probably post on this thread lol...here's why:

"Shawn Springs would be a huge mistake

Obviously, our replacement for Champ will be Shawn Springs if Danny gets his way. But this would be an enormous mistake, and a pretty obvious one at that. Anyone who has watched any film on this guy can see that "Toast"--- yes, that's his nickname in Seahawkland--- can't get it done as a starter.

He was replaced by the likes of Ken Lucas and talented rookie Marcus Trufant. Decent/good players, but this doesn't bode well.

Signing Springs gets Danny his former probowl corner, a big name and a former top 10 draft pick. But his name alone will command him a higher salary than he deserves. If he gets anything similar to what Dre Bly received last season from Detroit, this move will go down as one of our worst free agent signings ever.

Please, Danny, go with Winfield, Vincent, Plummer, or Bryant (in that descending order). Don't flirt with disaster and sign a has-been whose hamstring will probably never heal.

Just my 2cents......"

I'm trying to find an old thread of mine I started about Brunell, and I'm finding other old threads that kind of fit into this thread (as well as the one about nailing it). Here's a whole list of "I Was Wrong" predictions lol...

Poll: Who's Going To Be The Biggest Surprise Next Season? (with "next season" being the 2005 season)

http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95766

A few nuggets of wisdom:

"Not on your list...Ladell Betts. He becomes a touchdown machine. He'll be the short yardage guy who benefits most from the OL improvement."

"I'm gonna go out on a limb and vote for someone else not on the list: Darnerian McCants. Word is Gibbs has said D Mac is a part of his plans. He is the possession receiver that we could use. And I feel that I could be a inside the 5 yard line TD scorer like a couple of years back."

"I'll tell you who I think is going to have an incredable year (besides Gibbs and Ramsey) is Taylor Jacobs. I think he will step up real big."

And ironically enough, even though he did get some votes, only one poster mentioned Santana Moss as being the surprise player for 2005...

The biggest thing I've ever been wrong about in football was the Ricky Williams trade and subsequent choice of Champ Bailey. I was so upset I almost cried; I was certain that we needed a running back, and we actually somehow had the opportunity to take the best one in college history, and we passed it up. I was really devastated. (I was also eleven, so I deserve a little slack.) Obviously, that ended up working out much better than I expected...

I also thought that Skip Hicks would be a good player for us. Oops.

Probably too many to count :D so I'll list some random ones that come to mind.

I had the Giants going 6-10 in 2007.

I think I said Clinton Portis had a shot at 2000 yards and a ton of receiving yards after we hired Al Saunders in 06.

I didn't know why Rock Cartwright was being used as our kick returner (still think we can upgrade but he's done a hell of alot better than I thought he would)

I thought Skip Hicks was going to be our runner in 99 and not Stephen Davis.

There are so many players that I thought were going to be good but turned out not to be but I'll single out one that, looking back, is quite embarrassing.

I thought in 1992 that Desmond Howard was going to be so good and so dynamic a player that he was going to provide the Redskins with enough big plays to offset the deterioration/loss of both Art Monk and Gary Clark (both of whom were getting older so I thought this new young player could compensate for both great receivers declining skills). I can still vividly remember saying this to some friends and I'm relunctant to own up to this but here it goes. I said "Desmond is going to be our Jerry Rice. A player who is a threat to go all the way anywhere on the field and with any type of route". Boy was I wrong. Horribly horribly horribly wrong.
